All our ghosts have been dying to meet you… Pre-Trip: Update & costume tweaks 9/20

Amen.
Who is not a python fan?!

Can I send you a large packing tube for the parasol? I have concerns.

Congrats on the Be Our Guest lunch!
My sister has to go home a few days early and asked me to move our reservation for there. Ha ha! Yes, she is one of those. I told her she is just going to have to do a counter service. What kinds of lines are we talking about for her?

Seriously, you like Python too? We were meant to be friends. Too bad we don't live closer, we could have grown up movie night and crafts for Python films....

I have the cardboard tube it arrived in, thankfully. I'll use that to transport it and it should fit in the overhead. I think I can get away with it as my "personal item" (e.g. you may have a carry on bag and one personal item, such as a purse, coat, umbrella) Thank you for the offer though, I would absolutely take you up on that if I hadn't saved the shipping tube.

What, you can't just magically change your BOG ressie on a whim? hahaha :lmao:

From what I understand, the lines seem worse than they are. Reports are that people line up beginning at 10:30 and it'll extend past the bridge pretty quickly. That said, it does sound like the line moves well - with people reporting that even after joining the line in it's prime, they only waited about 30-45 minutes before placing their food order. It sounds like a situation that seems a lot worse than it is. The biggest complaint seems to be that the line is out in the open, so there isn't any sun protection at all.

I wasn't going to be too fussed if I couldn't get the lunch FP, but I was going to be happy to take it if it was available!

Wow, so close!! Very excited for you!

If it were me, I would absolutely be taking the costumes in a carry-on bag considering how much work you put into it and it's for one of the highlight events of the trip. Chances are your checked luggage will be just fine but why leave it to chance? :thumbsup2

I think you're right. I think I was pretty certain I was going to do this anyways. Maybe I just needed reassurance that I wasn't crazy.

Well, any crazier than usual! :rotfl:

I'd pack the costumes in my carryon too. I'd be way too paranoid after all that work! It'd be worth just the peace of mind of knowing they were with me.

And I think I forgot to mention earlier -- I love your interchangeable Minnie ears too! They are so cute.

Ha! That would be awesome!

Of course, we would be all fresh out of Red Leicester, Tilsit, Caerphilly, Bel Paese, Red Windsor, Stilton, Ementhal, Gruyere, Norweigan Jarlsburg, Venezualan Beaver Cheese, or Cheddar.

Just some Crunchy Frog.

:rotfl:

Seriously, we were meant to be friends! I am sending you a PM!

Sorry I got so far behind! But now that I'm all caught up...
Holy crap! Your costume is freaking amazing! I can't wait to see the pictures of you in it all put together! Man you're talented. Sewing doesn't hit my top 100 skill set unfortunately. I'm shamefully terrible at it.
Also, congratulations on the new job!! Closer to home and to what you studied for sounds awesome.

2 days! 2 days!

I'm moving forward with the carry-on-the-costumes plan. I think it'll just make me feel better about the whole thing. I'm quite sure they'd be fine, but the tiny chance that they wouldn't will probably drive me batty!

and thank you - I made a couple more bows last night, a tartan one and a Haunted Mansion Maid one. This making bows thing is fun and addicting!

Ha! That would be awesome!

2 days! 2 days!

Thank you!!! I'm pretty sure that my mom and I are both surprised with how much I've been sewing the last few years. I don't think we anticipated that I would do anything with it other than mend a few things or make curtains. Now there's fabric everywhere. At all times. Ha. I will say, the more you sew, the better you get.

And thanks - tomorrow is my last day at my current position, which feels a little weird. I've been gradually cleaning out my office so I don't have a ton of stuff to take tomorrow. I'm excited for a new adventure and very excited for a much shorter commute.

the plane takes off in 48 hours and 30 minutes!!! We're going to Disney World!:hyper::hyper::hyper:

I can't believe it but we leave TOMORROW!

I've checked us in for our flight - we got boarding group A (hopefully that's a good thing, I always tried to get As....)

As of last night, the craft sweat shop is closed. What's done is done, what's left I'll live without.

Mousekeeping envelopes are done, glued together and tips are allotted and done

I can't take credit for them, the gal at WDW Prep School created these and they're adorable!

Made a few more bows for my interchangeable ears....

Tartan! For wearing at Epcot. I used the Ancient Cooper tartan, should go with a lot of my clothes

and Haunted Mansion Maid

I also did one for the Enchantress/Enchanted Rose from Beauty and the Beast and a zebra one for AK. Forgot to take a picture..

A last minute Etsy find arrived this week as well - I had to snap it up and the seller/artist was fantastic. She made it and shipped it out right away and I love it! :lovestruc

Today is my last day at my current job in addition to the vacation prep, so my coworker friends arranged a little surprise celebration at our staff meeting yesterday.

So before I show you pictures, there's a little story that goes along with my celebration cake. My friend Andrea volunteered to order it and pick it up. When she called Kroger to place they order, she asked for a vanilla cake and for "Congratulations Abby!" to be written on it. She also asked if they could just put Mickey ears/the classic 3 circle Mickey head shape somewhere on there since she knew I was headed to WDW this weekend.

Apparently that was a very confusing request that lead to a go-around conversation for several minutes. :rotfl:

Finally the girl at the bakery just said "well, we can do a Mickey & Friends cake - does that sound like what you want?" Pretty frustrated and deflated at that point, Andrea said sure.

This would be what she saw when she went to pick up the cake

She was really bummed out and shocked at how bright it was - and how the request for a simple Mickey head had gone so terribly wrong. :rotfl2:

I thought it was hilarious - the story make it SO much better! Minnie even shakes at the hips (and quite frankly looks like she's had a few too many mai-tais if you know what I mean....)

They also gifted me with a Starbucks gift card and my favorite mellowcreme pumpkins

They certainly know what I like! I'm going to miss my coworkers, but am excited about the new position. It's a great opportunity to work in the field I went to school for (marketing) and a change of pace going from higher education to the corporate world.

Tonight I need to run a few errands after work, finish packing and make sure that everything the catsitter needs is easily accessible. I really am not looking forward to leaving Zoe! This will seriously be me tomorrow morning -> I'll be fine once we get to the airport, but the leaving part is always terrible.

This time tomorrow we'll be just about ready to land at MCO!!!

I think I should get my Monty Python DVD and play it soon and have my husband rewatch it! I made him watch it once when we were dating, but I don't think he really got into it. I have a feeling it'll be funnier for him now.

That HM tank top is AWESOME! Sometimes I wonder why Disney doesn't look for designs like this on Etsy and pay the designer to sell this in the parks. Some people are just SO creative!

How exciting that you're almost there!!! I hope you have a blast!

I love the HM tank so cute!

I also kinda like the Hawaiian Minnie Mickey cake, its cute haha. So funny what a simple mickey head turned into!

I also love all the little bows for your Minnie ears, how creative and what a great idea!

Please post back with the final results of your vinylmation signing, I'm tempted to steal your idea!

Have a magical trip!

I think that most people don't really 'get' Python on the first time - I don't think that I did! It absolutely gets funnier on subsequent watchings.

The tank was such a great find, it hits that perfect mark of subtle Disney with style that much of the Park merch misses.

I would've liked the Mickey & Minnie cake regardless, I think it's really cute and fun - but the backstory just took it to a whole other level! And I got the keep the toys, haha!

Hayley at Magical Ribbons has a video tutorial on her website for how to modify your ears to take interchangeable bows. She also is able to do it for you (for a fee) but the video is very clear. It took less than 10 minutes.

I will report back on the vinyl - I'm hoping they're able to sign it and it goes well! It was definitely an easy craft and a lot of fun to do. At the very least I have a fun custom vinyl even if they don't end up signing it.

The day has come! Safe travels, have a fantastic trip! Can't wait to hear all about it!

(Also, I'm in love with that shirt from etsy!!)

I thought of you today as I was hand sewing Robbie's zipper on his Mushu costume in the car. Happy trails!

Ahh love that Etsy shirt! What a great find.

I'm the same way about leaving our pets. Thank goodness my in-laws are so close and very happy to watch them for us. It makes me feel so much better. But the first time we left them before we moved to where we are now was awful! We hired a pet sitter and it all turned out fine but I was so nervous. But Zoe will be fine and you will have (are having!) an amazing trip! Enjoy!

Love love love the bows.

I can't seem to find the video tutorial to modify ears.

Do you have a link you could send me???

The Etsy seller was The Magic Haberdashery - she was great to work with! You could chose from several tank colors. If you order, I'd follow her recommendation to order a size up - I did and was glad!

I was grateful our friend was willing to check in on her - made it better! And I was ok once I was able to get out the door :) She did pretty much glue herself to me as soon as I walked in Sunday night and refused to get off of me for most of the day yesterday. She's back to normal now pretty much - but has to at least be in the same room as me still.

Love love love the bows.

Glad you found the tutorial! It was quick and easy and I found a few tutorials for making different styles of bows on YouTube. I got a lot of compliments on my interchangeable ears - very worth the few minutes of effort!
