All of the pools at the Grand Californian closing 1/3/2017

After a quick search just found this thread, we are really not happy about pool closure, we booked at the 7th month for our week stay from April 1st and on booking was not informed about it and have not had any notification since? Only found out reading an online blog! As Uk guests would expect at least an email not a letter. Did anyone ever hear anything back from letters? I have sent 2 emails since I found out last month and no reply! Our kids love the pools and with a weeks stay we were planning on using them a lot! So having to upheave to other hotels will be a right pain!

Took this picture on Monday, Feb 20th - I wouldn't count on the pools being done ahead of schedule based on the looks of things and the fact that we got several inches of rain while we were there. The pools and entire hotel are a bit of a mess. There are construction curtains up everywhere, plastic covering the carpets, and plywood walls in the elevators. The grills are closed and access to ice machines in the DVC wing is not available. you have to go over to the hotel side for ice. Grand Cal guest services are downright unhelpful with most issues. Not the best time to go to the Grand Cal for hotel guests or DVC.

On the plus side, the new TVs are really nice in the villas.

That really does not look good:guilty: so many closures happening for our first time to Disneyland, I am getiing more and more disheartened about the stay. Really unhappy that they will not answer emails and have never told us about this. Thanks for the update :D

FWIW, the whole family had a great time despite all the issues. Although it wasn't our best trip, any trip to Disneyland is a good trip in my book. :yay:

They have a shuttle stop at the little exit by Pinnochio's workshop to drive you over to the DLH to swim. Inconvenient, but it is there.

Thx for the update! We visit in May, so this is welcome news. :)

@Whitewater waiting for food.
Wall is up and North pool has been full of water and circulating as Nonsuch reported. Front desk said still "a week or two " for that to open but seems like it is closer.

Slide still has scaffolding and that area has a ways to go. Tile saws going all day long.

True, I can completely agree with the timing of a pool refurb , but all of the pools at the same time !?!?! Holy cow !!!
And even though there will be no pools and I assume construction noise, rooms are still over $500 a night :(

Anyone have any update? Is GC doing anything for guests because of the noise and non functioning pools?

Here now.....not opened.
Haven't noticed any noise.
Shuttle is still running to DLH pool
