.GREG'S MURDERER REVEALED ON AMC
This week begins with Dixie and Zach being found innocent of murder. "Dixie is totally in the dark and terribly hurt by the fact Tad would do this to her," says Head Writer Megan McTavish of Tad's stint as chief witness for the prosecution. "But Zach has figured everything and says, 'No, you have to talk to him.' So she goes to him and he tells her the whole story."
And that is? "The idea to [bury Madden] came when he found himself in the park with Greg...suddenly he was the 8-year-old Tad in this same park with bio-dad Ray having broken his arm. There was something going on in him that was so primal. Tad never intended for the man to die. It wasn't 'How can I kill him?' but 'How can I break him and get him to reveal Kate's whereabouts.' And Greg was about to break, "then that pesky earthquake came along and finished him off."
The forensic evidence against Zach and Dixie? "Tad used something to make the coffin that Zach had touched that night at the airport. Tad got both Madden and Erica out of the terminal, but when security came by, he shoved the body in the trunk of the car, not knowing it was Dixie's rental. So he became their accuser to save them."
Tad's confession "enables forgiveness" between Tad and Dixie. "Dixie made a terrible mistake when she gave Kate away but now he is as responsible, if they never find Kate, as Dixie is. [Tad was so Babe-on-JR'ed] A new understanding between Tad and Dixie will arise from this. The bitterness and the anger that you've seen on both sides is literally washed away in their tears and they become a team to find Kate. It's a direction that the audience will like," she opines, "because they missed the Tad and Dixie of old - and hopefully, we can give that to them." [Yes, and I bet K/Z won't be as lucky. Dixie living at hotel Zach will probably still have Zach whipped at K/Z's expense. I'd go into why, but been there, said that...]
Why isn't Tad jailed? Atleast for perjury! "Zach pulls a rabbit out of his hat," McTavish grins. "He tells Derek, 'Tad told the truth. I did it.' He can't be tried again since he's already been acquitted, and Derek can't do a thing about it."
