So, everyone else is doing it... so I decided I would too. Actually, I started my pre-trip on MySpace, I think, around November/December of last year before I even knew everyone started their pre-trips years in advance. I guess I'm late to the boat.
Anyways, I plan WDW vacations every 2 years. Since my last trip was in 2006, 2008 was the lucky year. I had the vacation pretty much planned out except for what days we were going to which park (and eat at which restaurants).
So basically it all started out with me and my boyfriend, Eric, were going to go. Let's talk about Eric's last trip with me:
Oh goodness, he did not want to go. He wanted to go to Myrtle Beach or someplace like that.
The always famous question "why go to Disney again?!" always came up. Eric didn't want to go because he thought it would be boring, childish, etc. I'm sure many of you know the story.
So I would make him watch all the travel shows on WDW. He started to spark an interest. Finally Modern Marvels did him in. He's kinda mechanical so seeing how things worked really got him excited.
Anyways, we booked free dining (it was really the best deal for us). You can read my trip report for it, its in my siggy (there are lots of pics). For a basic recap though, this is kinda how it went:
Day 1: Eric lived in his own apartment and wouldn't wake up to leave for the airport which is 2 hours away (I don't know how the hizzy he slept, I was up all night). Finally on our way, I drove the first hour, then had to wake my mom up to drive the rest of the way (her steering wheel is too small and it hurt my arms). (My mom was going to drive another 2 hours to my aunt's house to bring her some furnature and stuff from when we sold my Gramma's house, so she was dropping us off at the airport.)
So we are waiting for the plane:
We board, wait and wait. The pilot comes online and states they are having problems they are going to try something... it didn't work... they were going to restart the plane and it was going to get very hot in there... restart... "Ok we think we solved the problem." Now I didn't ask for window seats because I thought I knew how big the plane was... I was right, it was 2 x 3... but our seats were the very last on the plane... no window and "we think we solved the problem"... Panic Attack! I was just glad it was a direct flight.
HOLY HOT in ORLANDO! Anyways, no wait for ME, we boarded and were on our way. Got to POP and called home told everyone we got there ok. I loved the room, it was king bed with a handicap bathroom and fridge (which Eric used to keep his beer cold). The bathroom was just the toilet and a shower... I hate tubs, so having that big shower was really nice (shh also made showering a lot faster 2 fit better than one & there was no hanky panky, get your mind outta the gutter!).
Basically got to POP and went to the bus to MK for our dinner at Chef Mickey's... We were the last on and stood right next to the driver. Eric befriended him and the driver told us all sorts of stuff (that I already knew) but Eric was so impressed. I think it was a great opening to the trip.
Here's Eric and Goofy:
Me & Goofy:
We were there and no Mickey, but the other characters kept coming around and around... finally Mickey and we left.
Day 2:
Magic Kingdom... We got there like 3 minutes after rope drop
ERIC WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST GET UP 5 MINUTES EARLIER! LOL! We stopped at Main St Bakery cuz Eric had to eat... he got a bagel. Blah blah blah (see trip report for details)... We ate lunch at Pecos Bill's... and right after Eric was feeling sick, so we went back to the room for a nap. Got some drinks there... then came back to MK a couple hours later. Blah blah blah... He bought one of those bouncy balls near Mickey's Toontown Fair... it's like 3 feet in diameter. It downpoured and Eric didn't wanna wear the ponchos my mom bought us for $.50. So we ran in the rain to Space Mountain. Eric loved it. We rode it 2 or 3 times and we were dry. Dinner at Ohana... Rode at the front of the Monorail for it:
This is a whole story in its own. Loved the food, read the trip report... Watched Wishes and back to POP.
Day 3:
Disney Studios... Rode RnR first... Eric loved it! I met MATER!
Watched Lights Motors Action and both of us were really excited about it... we love cars. Eric really liked it because of the mechanics behind it. Some point we did Indiana Jones... through out the past couple of days I tried to get Eric to "test" some things out (secrets)... no luck so far, but at Indy you pull that rope at the well... Eric was so excited after that... he told like every person we say for the next 10 minutes. Lunch at Toy Story Pizza Planet and dinner at Sci-Fi. The atmosphere is great here! Food.. not so good. Eric left this place sick. Went to watch Fantasmic and only standing room was left... Eric didn't want to stand. Went on RnR again got the ride photo... And Eric wanted to buy this hat at the Villian's store:
I didn't want to ride ToT, but wanted to walk through it to get pics because the theming is amazing! (ToT makes me sick.) Anyways, the wait was 45 min so we passed.Eric was complaining about being sick and I told him to just take the bus back to the hotel and I'll meet him there... he wouldn't leave me
Day 4:
Day Off... Went to DTD and bought all the Mr Potatohead parts... (My bag weighed in at like 60 pounds... shh don't tell the airline, they didn't check.) Had lunch at Planet Hollywood... Eric loved the Lego Store, loved the cigar store. Spent time around hotel until it was time for WCC. We were 15 minutes late, and they told us it would be another 15 for a table... so we headed off to the bar. Nope, didn't even sit down. LOVED this place. LOVED the pulled pork.. yummmmmmmmmm
Day 5:
Epcot... Epcot is my favorite! I live for Epcot. Now in the past most of my trips have pretty much spent all the time in Future World.
We rode M:S, the extreme side... and TT and then went to Club Cool. I got Eric to drink Beverly... and I tried it again (which I will do every trip, you know just to remember). A family was there also, and the dad was heckling me because he didn't see me drink the Beverly but had Eric do it. Anyways, Eric had to call his dad to tell him about the free soda/pop/whatever you want to call it and the Beverly. Blah blah blah lunch at Sunshine Seasons, did the Segway thing in Innoventions (Eric was so excited), then did the Disney Visa meet and greet... blah blah blah..
Let the drinking begin.. UK, (skipped Canada since we were eating dinner at Le Cellier), France (no slush sorry), skipped Morocco (I don't know why), Japan, and Italy... stopped at Italy to watch Sergio... never seen him before... LOVED him. I started to kick myself for not bringing my video camera.
Got a beer in Germany (actually I only got drinks in UK and Mexico... Eric got beer everywhere else)... the dark German beer made Eric sick... I got a Fiesta Margarita in Mexico (I hate mango so next time, no mango). Walked to the front of Epcot to get our pic and chugging away at my margi... I was buzzed when I got there. Eric went to use the rest room...
Back to LeCellier... For some reason... I think it was raining, we skipped IllumiNations (I will never skip any fireworks again
).
This is what our room looked like when we got back:
The mousekeeper gave Mr. Ewok a home!
Day 6:
Animal Kingdom... We had extra QS credits left over so I got us breakfast... not much of a wait, FYI. Though I would not get fruit topping on our waffles again if I'm walking back to the room, they were soggy.
Rode Kali like 2 times in a row because there was no line, then moved to EE. We kept riding it over and over to get a good pic (free pic) and both of us ended up sick. Tried to find someplace with a/c where we could sit and all the restaurants were closed to change from breakfast to lunch. Did have lunch at Tusker House (wanted to eat at Flame Tree but we needed the a/c). I had another panic attack during FOTLK. Went back to the room after doing AK and napped til our ADRs at Boma. Eric didn't like Boma, I did.
Day 7:
Time to go home.. we hung out at the hotel til ME picked us up. We were dressed in sweaters and stuff because we knew it was going to be cold in NY. It was HOT.
WDW from the plane:
Eric's family picked us up at the airport and we went home.
So anyways, after that trip Eric couldn't wait to go back. So I was excited for our next trip! Let the planning begin...
