Day 3 Part 2

When I left you, we had just arrived at
HS2011PP.jpg

and we were headed for our favorite attraction …
ToyStoryMania1.jpg

Not my best picture, but you get to see one of my best friends ever … my beloved water bottle. It has acquired many dings and minor injuries since that picture, but it still works great!
Best ride/game EVER! We’ve got a FP+ for 10:25-11:25. I think I want to do it on the earlier end of the window, because our HS FP+ are all bunched up (this is the one day that I want to try to get an additional FP+ once our 3 are all used up … we want to try for RnR if it’s available – if not we’d figure out what to get).

If we get there too early for the FP+, we’ll look for characters around the sorcerer’s hat. In 2011 we saw the Pooh characters there, but I don’t know if they’re there anymore. Mostly, what I think I may be able to expect is:
DonaldampDaisy.jpg

Someone is not looking at the camera in this one … and it’s not Donald and Daisy

Chip.jpg
Dale.jpg

We may have seen them twice by then, so they’re a second priority, not first priority –but we’ll see them as many times as we can because they’re an awesome character interaction – also, these picture are not from HS, they’re from California – I think they’re always together in Florida

Goofy-1.jpg

Pluto.jpg

These pictures are from California 2009 … in case the settings looked at all unfamiliar to the Florida-only people out there

So if any of those (or anyone else we want to see) are there and the lines are manageable, we’ll stop for pictures.

Anyway, back to
ToyStoryMania2.jpg

We’ve been practicing (on the Xbox), so we’re pretty excited. We really both absolutely love TSMM – and I don’t think I need to explain why. We want to go on it more than once, but … we’ll see how the line is. But I’m going to win. Just saying. I’m excellent at the rings, while my sister is more comfortable with breaking plates. The most important part, though, is having fun (and me beating my sister … although I’m not as super competitive as she is).

Our next FP+ is for
VOTLM.jpg

for arrival between 11:45 AM – 12:00 PM (I’m assuming for the 12:05 show). We’ll most likely skip this one because it would require running over to Animation Courtyard when our next FP+ is in Streets of America (we can catch the show later in the day if we want). We did this one as a throw-away because we wanted to try for the coveted 4th FP+. If we don’t get something good, I’ma be annoyed.

Since we’re most likely skipping VOTLM, we’ll hang out in Pixar Place a little bit.
We’ll probably wait on line to see these guys:
ToyStory2008PP.jpg

This is from 2008, from the old “Al’s Toy Barn” M&G location

We also would like to see if we can catch some of these guys …
greenarmymen.jpg

Image taken from: http://land.allears.net/blogs/dnews/2008/08/green_army_men_characters_at_d.html
We’ve seen them before, but never stopped for pictures because we just didn’t have the time. This year we should have time because we’re doing a full day at HS (we never have before). Not a priority, but I really do want to stop.

We’ll then head over to Streets of America. Depending on the time, we may go straight to our next FP+ …
MuppetVision.jpg

We love this. How could anyone not? I don’t know what exactly FP+ gets us, so I’m interested to see that. Mostly we’ll just watch and enjoy.

I hope to time Muppet*Vision so that when we get out, it’s just about time for our lunch at …
Streets_of_America_53.JPG

Image taken from: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.id=88

I am super nervous about this. I think I’ve mentioned it before, but for those of you who are new to the PTR or just skipped over some of my detailed planning updates (or just forgot since I last mentioned it because for some strange reason that I can’t understand my PTR is not the most important thing in your life) – I can’t order off the menu at any Disney restaurant. I need special pre-packaged Kosher meals that are brought in from an outside vendor. There are select quick service locations that offer them without advance notice, and for most table service meals they can provide the Kosher meals with 48 hours’ notice (so I call and add it to the reservation as early as I can – and I have to pick my food then).
Anyway … before this trip, we never did sit-down meals, only quick service. This was the first table service I booked (and until recently was the first one over the course of the trip), and I’m a little nervous that the Kosher may not have been added to the reservation properly (especially because the package includes an appetizer and we decided to skip the appetizer – all they offered was a soup, and we have no interest in a soup). My plan is to call up the week before and see if I can actually get in touch with the restaurant to make sure they have the info about the Kosher reservation, but if that’s not possible, I at least want someone at Disney Dining to go into the reservation and confirm that the Kosher order is listed there as I have it written down.
So yeah, I’m nervous that the Kosher could go wrong, or the restaurant could have no experience handling the Kosher meals and not know how to reheat them or that they should come with their own silverware (we’ve had that with chefs before, although we do know what to do in case they don’t), or I just might feel really self-conscious eating my pre-packaged food when everyone else is ordering off the menu. Since we’re doing BOG the night before, I may feel a little better about this … but I also may feel worse if we have a bad experience at BOG. So this could either be great or be horrific … or more likely, something in the middle.
But yeah … we’re getting one order of Cheese Lasagna and one order of Baked Fillet of Salmon, and we’re both getting Chocolate Layer Cake for dessert (I assume the cake will taste like reheated frozen cake … the salmon’s not bad, and I don’t think I’ve ever had the lasagna).

Anyway …
Either before or after Muppets & Lunch, we’ll see some awesome Pixar friends, including …
MikeampSulley.jpg
LightningampMater.jpg

We’ll also stop in and see some Frozen stuff, including checking out the merchandise at Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post, and attempting to build a snowman at the Frozen Snowground. I’m actually really looking forward to the Frozen stuff because I really loved the movie.

After Streets of America, we’ll head back through Pixar Place to Mickey Avenue and Animation Courtyard.
In Mickey Avenue, we may check out “Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream,” because, as previously stated, we’re history people. If we’re short on time, we’ll skip it, but honestly … it’s Hollywood Studios, how likely are we to be short on time?

In Animation Courtyard, we have a few things to do. If we feel like it, this is when we’ll catch Voyage of the Little Mermaid. But the big priority is characters in The Magic of Disney Animation.
We really want to stop in to see this guy …
Sorcerer_Mickey.jpg

We also want to see some favorites (who we see every year)…
FrozoneampMrIncredible.jpg

NO CAPES!

We were actually really excited about seeing Ralph and Vanellope (who currently meet here) because we saw Wreck-It Ralph a few days ago and thought it was adorable, but … apparently their last day is October 24th because they’re converting that area to Big Hero 6. If the Big Hero 6 characters are there when we’re there, we might stop by, but probably not.

We also may do
dsc_2054.jpg

Image taken from: http://www.disunplugged.com/2010/01/27/animation-academy-at-disneys-hollywood-studios/
I always really wanted to do this (despite the fact that I can’t draw, I do love drawing), but since I learned about the no erasers thing … I’m a little scared of it. So we shall see.

Once we’re done in Animation Courtyard, we may cut back into Hollywood Boulevard to do …
GreatMovieRide.jpg

Now that I know how long it is, I know to anticipate it (for those of you confused about that statement, see this post (scroll down a bit – when you see the above picture, you’re about in the right place), in which I explained my Great Movie Ride Folly). I didn’t love it (I thought it was okay, but not worth doing more than once), but apparently my sister liked it, so we may do it again, time permitting.

Our last-ish stop of the day is Sunset Boulevard, where the main attraction is …
Rock-n-Roller-Coaster_01.JPG

Image taken from: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/mgm/st-rockin.htm
I’ve said this a million times before, but … we’ve never done it, we want to do it. Long story short, my sister hates upside-down roller coasters (I love them), so it tends to drop off our list when we’re short on time. But I’m hoping to do it and love it. My sister is probably hoping I hate it so that we never have to do it again. We shall see what happens.

If we have time and the timing works out, we may see
Beauty_and_the_Beast_Stage_Show_14.jpg

Image taken from: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/mgm/st-batb.htm

I’ve never seen it and I love Beauty and the Beast, but man, that thing be long. I have a little bit of ADD, so long and I don’t get along so well sometimes (yes, I know Fantasmic! is just as long, but … I can handle one long show, 2 is asking a bit much of me).

If it’s before 6, I have no idea what we’ll do, but I’m sure we’ll figure something out.
If it’s 6 or later, we’ll head over to get our seats for …
Fantasmic1.jpg

This is from before I realized that my phone takes better night pictures (and annoys people less) with the flash off

We love Fantasmic! (which celebrated its birthday last week, just btw) and we’re excited to not have to wait in as long of a line to be seated (I don’t know if anyone has picked up on this, but I’m not so great with the lines). Hopefully we’ll get good seats, settle in, and enjoy the show
Fantasmic2.jpg

Fantasmic3.jpg

Once the show is over we get to park closing time, so we’ll make our way towards the exit (stopping for some hat pictures along the way if we can). From there we’ll head on to our next stop …

DAY 3 PART 3 (coming soon)

I know, I’m all about the suspense in Day 3! But this day has 3 distinct parts, so I wanted to post it that way. The rest of Day 3 is coming soon!

Hi, Sarah. Thanks for joining my TR, and I thought I'd come join your PTR.

I'm going to admit right off that I did NOT read every single work. I'm getting ready to hit the sack shortly, but I did read a lot of it and: 1) love all your graphics, 2) love your plans that you have outlined thus far, 3) I am thoroughly enjoying the pictures from past trips of you and your sister and 4) and probably most important -- YES you can use your phone app at Starbucks (I did it numerous times during our trip in September).

I look forward to staying caught up as best I can.

Day 3 Part 3

When I last saw you, my favorite WDW night show, Fantasmic!, had just ended. We were headed towards the park exit after what hopefully will have been an awesome day at:
HS2013PP.jpg

We’ll take some night hat pictures before we leave the park (I forgot to mention that last post) and then most likely grab a bus to AoA.

FAIR WARNING: All pictures from here on are nighttime cell phone pictures … better than with my regular camera (which is terrible at night time), but still not great

Once we get to see this beautiful sign again
AoA-1.jpg

we’ll head back to the room, dump our backpack, grab either smaller bags or just our wallets (I may also take my water bottle – I regretted not taking it last year), possibly change our shoes and grab another bus headed to …
MarketplaceEntry.jpg

Our other option is to walk from HS to the nearest hotel and take a bus from there … but I really don’t want to carry around the big backpack at DTD, so we’ll probably stop in our room first.

Downtown Disney

Just by way of explanation of our DTD habits:
I’ve never been to any area of DTD other than the Marketplace. We shop, we have ice cream, we sing along to the music … that’s all we do. If we have time after Animal Kingdom and we feel like doing something, we might go back and explore a different area … but that’s not a must for us. We’re not really restaurant or nightclub people, and you couldn’t pay me to watch Cirque du Soleil (seriously, I saw a video once … creeped me out. Not my kind of thing), so we’ve never seen any reason to go. If we did go, it would just be to walk around and browse.

So anyway, now on to the plans. So, we will walk through the gate and will not be greeted by this
Pumpkin.jpg

Last year everything was decorated for Halloween, and it was too much pumpkin for me. I’m hoping they have a period between Halloween and Xmas decorations. If they don’t I guess it will be nice to see the place all decorated for Xmas.

We’ll browse through a lot of shops, but rather than tell you exactly where we’re going and when, I’ll give you the highlights (aka places we’re likely to buy something or at least spend a lot of time) and skip the stores we just go into for a quick look. This is written in the reverse of the order that they’re on the map.

So, here goes:
Disney Design-a-Tee – We didn’t notice its existence last time (although my 2013 map says it exists). We probably won’t get shirts, but we want to check it out.

LittleMissMatched
IMG_20141023_210940668.jpg

A random picture of the mess that is my LMM socks … I tend to just throw them on a pile when they come out of the laundry instead of sorting them

We’ve never been to the LittleMissMatched at DTD in FL, but we’ve been to the one in at DTD in CA and the one in Midtown Manhattan. And I used to be a frequent shopper at the Upper West Side location (it was 2 blocks from my old office and next door to my bank). That store closed when the company was under new management, and I don’t think I’ve been in a LMM store since. I want to see what they have (I especially want to see if they have anything adult-size … I get the impression that since the new ownership/management took over that it’s all kid-sized now).

Marketplace Co-Op:
I’m interested to see what they have. Probably won’t get anything, but I want to see what this place is all about since they seem to be promoting it a lot.

Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop
Ghirardelli.jpg

Our table from last year

DINNER! Yes, that’s right, we’ll be having ice cream for dinner. Not exactly healthy, but delicious. I think what I love most of this place is that it reminds me so much about the store in San Francisco.
SFGhirardelli.jpg

So we’ll go in, decide what we want for dinner. I believe last year we may have gotten the Gold Rush (Vanilla Ice Cream with freshly homemade Hot Fudge and Peanut Butter throughout. Perfectly topped with Whipped Cream, Chopped Almonds, a Cherry and a Ghirardelli SQUARES® Milk Chocolate) – either that or we got that one time in California. We’ll get almost anything there, so we have a lot of options. Also, last year we got a (I think) 10% off coupon from the Ghirardelli area at F&W, so that makes it even better.

Next on the list is my favorite store in all of DTD (and possibly the world … add an H&M inside and it will definitely will be my favorite store):
World_of_Disney.jpg

World of Disney
We will spend most of our money (and probably also our time) here. This is where we buy most of our souvenirs and gifts for others.
Our shopping list includes:
- Pin for my sister (probably 2014, not sure if she wants something else or more)
- Zip-up Disney World sweatshirt for my sister
- 2014 keychain for me
- 2014 keychain for my aunt
- Whatever my mom wants for her kitchen
- Something for my dad
- Something for my brother – he is impossible to shop for because he doesn’t collect anything and doesn’t like whatever you buy him. Last year we got him a back scratcher (which we thought he would use) … but apparently it’s too awkward for him to use. Previously we’ve bought shot glasses (a “collection” we accidentally started for him) or golf balls (which he collected until a few years ago), but that’s stuff we don’t want to buy him anymore because we know he doesn’t want it. I really have no idea what we’re getting him.

WoD_Inside_1.jpg

I want to start a new collection, one that’s just for Disney (I collect keychains from everywhere, but I want a collection of stuff that I only get at Disney). I’m actually trying to figure out what to collect – I thought about Vinylmation, but what would I do with those? (They’d probably sit on top of my dresser in their boxes next to my bobbleheads). Any suggestions? I want to keep it below $15 per trip if I can, but I know things at Disney ain’t cheap.
I’m actually thinking about a bracelet … either a cheap charm bracelet if they still have them (in 2011 I saw these “make your own charm bracelet” in a few stores, but I don’t remember if I saw them last year) or a Pandora bracelet. Pandora charms are being released on November 3rd, so I may check them out and think about buying one … if I decide to do Pandora, then I need to budget for a bracelet and one charm (I’m figuring up to $150 total, and I’ll probably go for one of the cheaper charms right now)… and I’ll add a new charm on every Disney trip. Sounds awesome, assuming I have the money for a charm every trip (not likely since I don’t seem to have money for a charm this trip).

The LEGO Store
We’re too old for Lego, but there are still plenty of reasons to go to there (or at least to the area around it):
Lego.jpg

Lego1.jpg

Lego2.jpg

Lego3.jpg

Lego4.jpg

Lego5.jpg

And we also have to peek at the lake to see a guy that we somehow never noticed before last year (we saw it, but it never made much of an impression on us):

LEGO_Dragon.jpg

In addition to the stores/areas mentioned above, we’ll also stop and take random pictures of stuff we see, such as:
DTDRandom1.jpg

DTDRandom2.jpg

DTDRandom3.jpg

That will probably be all we do at Downtown Disney. Once we’re done with our shopping we’ll head back to the buses and then back to the hotel. We’ve got an “early” ADR the next morning, so we’ll want to be well rested and ready to leave the hotel early.

And so ends day 3.

Next Up: Day 4, Part 1 - Character Breakfast & Animal Time

It's hard to read through everything ... I write a lot and I'm not very coherent sometimes. But I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to read some of it.

Thanks for the compliments on the graphics/plans/pictures - all greatly appreciated!

And thanks for the Starbucks info - I'm trying not to charge anything on my MB if I can help it (I'll tie it to my CC in case I'm ever just too tired to pull out my wallet or forget my wallet in the room), so it's easier to pull out my phone than it is to dig up my small wallet from my big backpack.

Thanks for saying hello! I hope you enjoy reading about the rest of my planning - not much left, trip time is almost here!

When I last left you, we were ready for bedtime after a fun day of running, resort exploring, Hollywood Studios, and Downtown Disney. Now it’s time for …

Day 4, Part 1

This is the morning of our “early” ADR (it’s early for us), so we’ll be up (not so) bright and early. I’ll check with the front desk once we’re there, but I’m guessing it will take 1-1.5 hours to get to our ADR, so I’m hoping to be out front waiting for a bus between 7 and 7:15.

We’ll hop a bus to Magic Kingdom, then take either the monorail or the boat to …
Grand_Floridian_21.jpg

Grand Floridian Image Taken From: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/resorts/grandfl.htm

My preference is the monorail, because we’ve never ridden it before and I really want to, but we may end up with the boat because from what I’ve heard, it’s faster, and I tend to be behind schedule in the mornings.

Either way … once we get to the Grand Floridian, we’ll check in at 1900 Park Fare for our …
SupercalifragilisticBreakfast.jpg

Yes, that’s right, Sarah’s love of graphics strikes again! We’ve only ever seen the Mad Hatter in California, so that’s where that picture is from. (Also, the alignment on that picture is off ... gah! I thought I fixed that!)

Once again, we’re getting Kosher food, but apparently we can also get stuff off the buffet (the way it works with Kosher for the buffet is that rather than being all-you-can eat, you get one Kosher entrée (for breakfast – for other meals there may also be appetizer and dessert), but apparently you also get access to the buffet). Even though we can’t eat most of what’s on the buffet, we’ll get coffee, and I may get juice or fruit … and if we see something prepackaged that we can grab to go, we may grab that too. We’re getting one order of Cheese Blintz with Hash Brown (for me – the sis doesn’t like the cheese in cheese blintzes) and one Cheese Omelet with Home Fries (for the sis). Exciting sounding, no?
For those of you unfamiliar with the concept of a blintz, it’s kind of like a crepe rolled up and stuffed with something (in this case, cheese). That’s probably not the best description ever, but it gives you an idea.

I’m hoping we get to see all the characters while we’re eating, but if not, we’ll dawdle and delay a bit to make sure we get to see …
MaryPoppins.jpg

AliceampMadHatter.jpg

(Yes, this is the same picture as above – it’s the only one that I have of the Mad Hatter)

Tigger.jpg

Pooh.jpg

And of course, we also want to make sure to see (and get a picture of)
DSC00947.JPG

Image Taken From: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.id=28

Once we’re done, we’ll probably spend a few minutes walking around the hotel, exploring the lobby, seeing what there is to see … an abbreviated version of what we did the day before at our hotel.

Just one note on 1900PF: A few people have mentioned that they did 1900PF dinner and they really enjoyed it. I’m hoping breakfast is also enjoyable. I actually could have gotten a dinner reservation (after I already had the breakfast one), but I asked my sister which she would prefer, and she said breakfast. I don’t know if we’ll do ADRs on future trips (heck, I don’t know if there will be future trips), but if we do, I think I would definitely consider 1900PF for a dinner ADR. We love Cinderella (she’s SW’s second favorite princess), so I think it would be a super fun experience for us.

Once we’re done with breakfast and exploring the Grand Floridian, we’ll head over to the bus stop, where we’ll catch a bus to …
AnimalKingdom.jpg

Yes, I am aware that we’re not looking at the camera

Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is an interesting place for us. It’s always been a half-day before (as has HS), so we don’t really get as much time to explore and look for animals.
So, I’m going to write the plans out according to how I have them on our daily plans checklist (with one exception), which may not be the order we will actually do things. I really don’t know the order that we’ll go, so I just have to pick something. For each area I’ll list/show the attractions we want to hit, the characters we want to see, and the animals we’ll be on the lookout for (assuming none of them have disappeared or moved since 2013, which is when my animal guide is from).

We start with Oasis, which is the area where you first come in. No attractions or characters, but we will be trying to do some animal spotting.

Previous highlights include …
Macaw.jpg

I saw it and said “look, it’s a macaw!” and then took a picture. I find it more than a little amusing that I like the macaw, because as a general principle, I hate birds.

We usually kind of rush through this area because we’re on our way to rides, but I’m hoping we get more time to explore and see the animals. Nothing in particular we’re looking for, but we’ll see what we see.

Next up …
Discovery Island
Where, of course, the highlight is …
TreeofLife.jpg

Not much here by way of attractions (really, not much anywhere at AK for us by way of attractions), but if we have the time and we feel like sitting down, we’ll catch
ItsToughtobeaBug.jpg

This picture is from California … it’s possible we haven’t done it in Florida

It’s cute, but we don’t love it enough to do it every year.

Character highlights in this area include …
DaisyDuck.jpg

Pocahontas.jpg

And … Adventurer’s Outpost: (we’ve got a FP+ for 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM, which is a little early for my comfort, so we may end up getting to the park and rushing to make the FP+, and the doing whatever we missed later)
MickeyMouse-1.jpg

MinnieMouse.jpg

Animals we want to see in the area include …
800px-Cotton_Top_Tamarin_001.jpg

Image Taken From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotton-top_tamarin

Flamingo.jpg

and a few others ... I have surprisingly few animal pictures.

Next up we’ll head to
Asia_entrance_sign_Animal_Kingdom.jpg

Image Taken From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asia_(Disney's_Animal_Kingdom)

The highlight in Asia will be …
ExpeditionEverest.jpg

We’ve got a FP+ for 1:05 PM – 2:05 PM.
I don’t know that either one of us particularly likes this ride, but … we do it. It seems like we should. I got really sick after the first time we did it (almost passed out), and this is one of those rides where it feels like the lap restraint doesn’t go down tight enough for me (and I’m not that skinny), but we do it. I don’t dislike it, I just don’t care much about it.
Long story short …I wouldn’t cry if I missed it, but we do it because it feels like we should.

If the line is short and we feel like getting soaked (or we happen to have ponchos and a giant bag to keep the backpack dry) and the weather is hot, we might do…
1024px-Disney-Animal-Kingdom-Kali-River-Ride-8319.jpg

Image Taken From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kali_River_Rapids

We’ve never done it before, but we’ve done similar rides elsewhere, so we kinda know what to expect. It’s not something that’s a must-do for us, but it’s not something we’d never do.

Characters we want to see in the area are:
BalooampKingLouie.jpg

There aren’t really any animals we want to see in the area because we’re skipping Maharajah Jungle Trek. Last year we did it because I told my then sort of boss that if he emailed me, my response would be a picture of a tiger, and that’s where the tigers are. I saw it once, and the only part I liked was the tigers, which you have to practically fight people to see. So … it was a one-time thing for us.

Okay, next land would definitely put me over the picture limit, so I’ll stop here. I should be posting a planning update either later today or tomorrow, and part 2 of day 4 should be coming a day or two after that.

Trip is getting closer and closer every day – the excitement level is starting to get up there!

Yay! I am finally caught up to you. :) Your trip must be getting pretty close!

Gaston is a one of a kind meet for sure! Even if you don't want to wait out the line it's definitely worth the time to go over and watch his interaction with others. He is the best.

Otherwise your MK looks great. Busy but great. I don't think we could accomplish all that in a day BUT we travel during busier seasons.

Great idea planning a run and I can totally understand why you would want to be alone during your run. You two will be together for the whole trip so a little breather for an hour or so seems like it might be good for you both. I wouldn't worry to much about distance/time, etc. Just do what feels good. You are on vacation so any workout is just bonus!

Not sure what to tell you about breaking shoes in. I am notorious for buying shoes a few days before we leave and I also wear flip flops in the parks so my advice might not be the best to take. I would start wearing them now and see what you think before you go. I would think a couple weeks is more than enough time to break them in.

We don't make an effort to arrive at an ADR early although I think we just end up being early a lot because you get to a point where you don't think you have time to do anything else. We have actually checked in many times super early and been able to be seated early because of that. That usually makes me happy!

Sad you are going to miss Ralph and Vanellope! That is one of my favorite recent movies!

Ice cream for dinner is a great choice!

Hope your 1900 Park Fare breakfast is great. I love the dinner but have never gone to breakfast. I had a friend just there a few weeks ago for bfast and they loved it and said the characters were great.

Yay! I am finally caught up to you. :) Your trip must be getting pretty close!

Thanks for taking the time to catch up! (I know I ramble a lot). I'm getting really excited - trip is very close - I started my packing list a few days ago!

Gaston is a one of a kind meet for sure! Even if you don't want to wait out the line it's definitely worth the time to go over and watch his interaction with others. He is the best.

I think we're definitely going to at least try it - even if I have to stay behind the camera and force my sister to do the meet. I'm also planning on making "character cue cards" with something to say to each face character, which I'm hoping will help with my anxiety a bit

Otherwise your MK looks great. Busy but great. I don't think we could accomplish all that in a day BUT we travel during busier seasons.

We've never been in November, so I don't know how the crowds are, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get everything done. We have a very intense travelling style, so we'll try to get everything done, but we'll probably also sit down at breakfast that morning and decide what we think can be cut out.

I think I'm just going to plot out a course starting/ending in LM area that I think will take me about an hour walking (it'll take a little less running, but I run pretty slow) and follow that, and not worry about how far it is and how long it actually takes me.

Not sure what to tell you about breaking shoes in. I am notorious for buying shoes a few days before we leave and I also wear flip flops in the parks so my advice might not be the best to take. I would start wearing them now and see what you think before you go. I would think a couple weeks is more than enough time to break them in.

That's what I'm doing. I would love to wear flip flops in the park, but I have high arches, so it would kill my feet. I wore the new shoes on my run this morning and they seemed to be okay, so I'm hoping they're fine for the trip. And if they're not, I am bringing another pair of shoes anyway, so I can just wear those every day.

We don't make an effort to arrive at an ADR early although I think we just end up being early a lot because you get to a point where you don't think you have time to do anything else. We have actually checked in many times super early and been able to be seated early because of that. That usually makes me happy!

Thanks for the info! I think most of the ADRs we'll be early just because of my nervousness, but this is one where I'm worried about being late because we want to see the fireworks. I'm hoping we can make it by 9:25, but I'm trying not to worry about it.

Sad you are going to miss Ralph and Vanellope! That is one of my favorite recent movies!

I'm happy that they didn't announce it until after I had seen the movie, because otherwise I might not have seen and it then I would be missing out on an awesome movie. I've watched it again a few times since - I really love it.

Ice cream for dinner is a great choice!

My taste buds agree ... my scale not as much. But we do it every year, and I love Ghirardelli ice cream, so I'm excited

Hope your 1900 Park Fare breakfast is great. I love the dinner but have never gone to breakfast. I had a friend just there a few weeks ago for bfast and they loved it and said the characters were great.

From what I've seen people do enjoy the breakfast. We're more excited about the breakfast characters, which is why we chose that, but I think I'd consider dinner in the future.

Another planning update should be coming soon - I did some jewelry making over the past few days, so I have a few pictures.

Week 14 Planning Update:

MOVIE NIGHT: The Aristocats (we thought it was cute … reminded us a lot of Lady and the Tramp, which we really liked … also, Eva Gabor sounds less Hungarian than usual in that movie)
CHARACTER: Ariel
Our character activities:
- SW: Changed her computer background
- Me: Watched clips from The Little Mermaid, tried to learn the lyrics to “Under the Sea” (I should know them, but I don’t)

I finally finished Fantasia. There were one or two bits that I thought were good, but overall I just didn’t enjoy the actual animation.
The highlights for me were The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and what they did at the very end with Schubert’s Ave Maria – I actually really loved that very last part. I’m glad I watched to the end so that I got to see that one part.

Trip is fast approaching, so most of the stuff that’s happening is planning and packing.
Here’s what got taken care of this week:
IMG_20141022_171118036.jpg

It’s inspired by Anna’s coronation outfit & necklace (it’s for my Anna Coronation Disneybound – I wanted a gold pendant on a black ribbon because that’s the necklace she wears, and my sister recommended this pendant because Anna’s dress is green). It’s just a pendant on a ribbon, but I put some knots in the ribbon around the pendant, so hopefully it will stay mostly in place. It ties in the back.
This is for HS day (because of Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post & Frozen Snowground and the potential for Frozen Sing Along, which there is about a 0.001% chance of us doing).

Next up on my jewelry-making agenda was a fish necklace for my Ariel outfit (made out of fish beads from a necklace my awesome aunt made for me that broke). I wanted 2 “strings” of fish, so that was my first issue to figure out. Then I needed to figure out what would go between the fish as a sort of divider … I tried the beads from the original necklace, but I had trouble getting them on the string. Finally I decided to cannibalize a broken power bracelet (anyone else remember those guys?). Anyway, here’s the result:
IMG_20141026_200540649.jpg

Close up on the 2 strands of fishies:
IMG_20141026_200838643.jpg

(those are my pajama pants in the background of the pictures …)

Also, I may have already packed much of my jewelry …
I was cleaning the part of my room where I used to keep travel shampoos, etc (they’re now in a different part of my room and will likely eventually be moved to the bathroom), so I decided I might as well pack some of that stuff, and I grabbed a makeup bag (and put the shampoo, etc in a plastic bag within the makeup bag), and I figured my jewelry would also go in the same bag, so I started to pack.
Most of it is trip-specific or stuff I don’t wear much anyway (like all the stuff for my DisneyBounding outfits), but … I’m just going to have to be without my silver Mickey Mouse earrings from now until the trip (the gold ones don’t get packed because I’m most likely wearing them on the plane).

We’re making great progress on our “stuff to do on line.” I’ve got 30 trivia cards printed (4 questions on each – total of 120 questions), waiting to be torn apart. My sister is finishing word searches and will print them at work. I finished character bingo and I’ve been sticking it on cardboard (or, in the case of the last four boards when I ran out of cardboard … Bristol paper):
IMG_20141026_120012433.jpg

I’m also working on Magic Kingdom Fun Facts (ala Ted Mosby, for those of you who watched How I Met Your Mother), one fact for each ride and a few general facts. If I finish those with time to spare, I’ll do the other parks too (I may ask my sister to do them if I don’t think I’ll have time).

I’ve also decided to try and break in my new sneakers. I’ll wear them as much as I can this week, and if they feel broken in by the end of the week, I’ll bring them. If not, I’ll make the decision whether to just stick with the old ones or continue to try to break in the new ones (I usually don’t have too much trouble breaking in new Asics, so hopefully it’ll be okay). I wore them on my run this morning and they actually felt okay – so I’m hoping they’re good to go.

Not sure if I mentioned this yet – I got a haircut. I hate it. Every once in a while I’ll look in the mirror and decide it’s okay, but then a few hours later I hate it again. My sister got a haircut, and she likes hers. Why can’t life be fair? Whatever, it’ll grow out eventually, and if I hate the Disney pictures, I’ll just have to go back.

Anyway, from now until trip will be pretty busy for me, so I’m not sure how many updates I’ll be putting out. But I’ll finish the daily plans, will probably post some updates to the daily plans (because things have already changed a drop), and may post one or two additional planning updates between now and then. If things get super quiet, doesn’t mean I’m gone, it just means I’m busy.

I’ve been up since about 4ish (although I didn’t actually give up on sleep until after 6), so you guys get an earlier update from me. And I get to try to decide whether I want hot coffee or iced coffee (and whether to make it at home or head to either Starbucks or the bagel place).

Just to demonstrate how tired I am:
I write up these daily plans in Word, with notes on where I want to put pictures, and then at the end I gather all the pictures, upload them to Photobucket, and then insert the image URLs into the Word document. I almost posted this before uploading the pictures … aka with just the notes on where the pictures go. That would have been a strange post.

Anyway, now that the pictures are here, I present …

Day 4 Part 2

When you last saw me, we were in the Asia area, possibly enjoying Expedition Everest.

Animal Kingdom, Part 2
AnimalKingdom-1.jpg

Next on our agenda is Africa.
The highlight of Africa, of course, is …
Kilimanjaro.jpg

That seems to be the only Kilimanjaro Safaris picture I have…
For reasons I don’t want to go into (aka it was all my fault), we skipped this last year. That was a big mistake (and we knew it at the time), so we won’t miss it this time. We’ve got a FP+ for 2:25 PM – 3:25 PM.

We want to see all the animals, but here are some highlights from when we last did this (2011):
Fair warning: I was much better at getting the woman sitting next to me in my pictures than I was at getting the animals
Safaris1.jpg

Safaris7.jpg

Safaris2.jpg

Safaris3.jpg

Safaris4.jpg

Safaris6.jpg

Safaris5.jpg

Speaking of animals, we also want to hit up the Pangani Exploration Trails, specifically to see
Pangani-Forest-Exploration2.jpg

Image Taken From: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/animalkingdom/ak-africa-pangani.htm
but we’ll also check out what else is there. I think I saw somewhere that there’s a refurbishment going on, but it’s only partial, and I don’t remember when it ends (might make sense to look that up, right?)

When we’re ready to have a seat and enjoy ourselves, we’ll find our way to a showing of
FestivaloftheLionKing.jpg

FOTLKShow.jpg

Last year I took a tushload of pictures during the show. Basically, I was watching the show through my camera. This year my cell phone is going in the backpack during the show to remove the temptation to take pictures. I want to enjoy the show, not just photograph/record it.

Next we’ll hop on the Wildlife Express Train and head to
Rafikis-Planet-Watch.jpg

Image Taken From: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/animalkingdom/ak-rafiki-ovr.htm

Since AK has always been a half-day (or less) for us, we’ve always skipped this area in the past – but we really want to see this guy:
Rafikidisney.jpeg

Image Taken From: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Rafiki
I think it's a good thing that he can't talk to guests at the park, because if Rafiki spoke and it wasn't the voice of Robert Guillaume, I'd probably be super sad.

We’ll also see if these guys are around:
ChipnDale-1.jpg

I keep reusing the same Chip and Dale 2011 AK picture … I like it
In terms of animals – I don’t know if the cotton-top tamarins are still here or not, but if I haven’t seen them elsewhere, I’ll look for them here.

According to my 2013 animal guide, this area also houses one of my sister’s favorite animals:
DartFrog.jpg

And that would be California picture number … who knows, but it’s only the 2nd or 3rd San Francisco picture

My sister is a big froggie fan, and she especially loves the poison dart frog because of the beautiful colors, so we’ll be on the hunt for our dart frog.

Once we’re done there, we’ll take the train back to Africa, and then head back to Discovery Island to catch anything we missed the first time around. If we have time, we’ll also stop by Dinoland U.S.A.

We’ve never been to Dinoland USA before, but it’s not particularly high priority for us – if we have time, we’ll go, if not, we won’t.

We will not do DINOSAUR. My sister doesn’t like dinosaurs, and what I’ve seen of the ride from my Destination America Disney specials scares the crap out of me. So we’re skipping that.

We might do:
Dinolanddsc00032.jpg

Image Taken From: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/animalkingdom/ak-dino-primeval.htm
It looks kinda cute and I think it’s worth trying once.

We also may try …
dinoland-usa-023.jpg

Image Taken From: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/animalkingdom/ak-dino-TriceraTop.htm
Which is exactly the same as Dumbo and about 5 other rides, but is still worth a ride if we’re in the area and the line’s not bad.

In terms of characters, we’ll be looking for

Donald-1.jpg

Goofy-2.jpg

Pluto-1.jpg

We’ll take more pictures by the Tree of Life (and anywhere else we see a PhotoPass photographer) on the way out.
And that will basically conclude our day at Animal Kingdom. The park closes at 7, so we’ll probably eat dinner at the hotel (either get something there or have something we brought with us).

In terms of night activities, we have an early flight the next morning, so we won’t want to stay up late. We’ll definitely spend some time packing. Other possible night activities include:
* Return to DTD – either more Marketplace exploration or the other area(s)
* Air Hockey at …

Image Taken From: http://www.**************.net/2012/04/preview-inside-disneys-art-of-animation-resort-where-deluxe-decor-sets-a-new-standard-for-walt-disney-world-value-hotels/
* Nighttime hotel exploration – at AoA, Pop Century, or both
* Electrical Water Pageant – we’d have to figure out where to watch it from – problem is it’ll keep us out pretty late
* I ditch my sister and watch Thursday Night Football at the Drop Off Pool Bar (not likely, mostly because I don’t give a hoot about the TNF football game – last year I almost did this because I cared about the game (I believe it was Giants/Pats), but decided not to) – my sister does not approve of this plan
* Mini-Golf … even though we’ll have to pay because our voucher is only for games starting before 4

Day 5 plans will be posted soon … it’ll be a short one because it’s just departure day, but I’m still going to make it its own post.

Day 5

This is the saddest day of the trip.

We will be waking up at some obscene hour of the morning, probably looking like…
AnnaSleep.jpg

Yes, I did screenshot that while watching Frozen

We’ll get up, get dressed, pack our pajamas and anything else we didn’t pack Thursday night, and head to the main AoA building.

On the way we might take some dark pictures, like these:
AoANight1.jpg

AoANight2.jpg

AoANight3.jpg

AoANight4.jpg

Once we get to Animation Hall, it’s time to check out.

I don’t think I’ve posted pictures of the AoA lobby & check-in/out area yet, so since I took a lot of these pictures as my sister was checking out last year, I’ll post them here:

We’ll continue to take pictures and/or hang around until our Magical Express bus comes (seriously early … I think 4ish? I don’t remember exactly what time my flight is, just that it’s at an hour that I don’t normally like to be awake).

And then it’s sad time, as we head away from one of our favorite places in the world and back to real life and all its crap.

The magic isn’t over yet, though …
We’ll get to the airport super early, so (assuming we remember that it’s before security), we’ll stop in at:

Or

Image Taken From: http://orlandoinside.com/orlando-airport-2/
(whichever one is closer to our gates – I don’t remember)

At this point I wanted to throw in a fun picture from our 2008 trip … but I cannot find the picture. I know it was taken with my old digital camera, but I don’t seem to have transferred it to my computer. I dug out the old camera to see if it was still on there (not likely, but possible), but the battery (non-rechargable) is dead, I don’t want to try to dig up new batteries, and the card doesn’t fit into this computer (and I honestly don’t remember how I used to transfer stuff to the computer from this camera). I scoured both my photobucket and snapfish accounts, and it doesn’t seem to be there. So you’ll just have to believe me when I say it was a really cute picture from the airport.

Once we’re done there, we’ll head through security and to our gate. And that’s the end of the trip.
Once we get back to JFK, we may stop for Starbucks, or we may just go straight home and make coffee at home (or we could go to Starbucks by my house … or maybe go for bagels … lots of coffee & food options).

Once we’re home, it’s time for coffee, breakfast (if we haven’t had it yet), and (for me at least)…
cinderella-scrubbing.png

Image Taken From: http://everybodysgottabesomebody.com/2014/09/06/cleaning-cinderella-style/

Friday is house cleaning day around here, and just because I won’t have been home all week, doesn’t mean there won’t be a lot of cleaning for me to do.

And that’s the end of the trip.
There have been some changes to the plan since I started posting plans, but I’ll post those tomorrow or so.

Before I leave you, one last comment:
I’ve been trying to take an “if I don’t do it now, I can do it next trip” approach, but honestly … I don’t have any clue when (or if) the next trip will be.
I can’t take another trip until I’m working a steady job again (preferably full-time, but even a regular part-time, as opposed to the “random work when I’m needed” I have now, would be a really amazing thing). I’ve been in my current state of unemployment for about 15 months, and if I haven’t found a job yet, I honestly don’t know that I ever will.
Without going into too much specific detail, here are the basics of my job issue:
I'm applying for jobs in 2 different fields - the field I “just” came out of (which was always intended to be temporary for me), and the field I want to go into.
For jobs in the field I want to go into, I don't have the education and/or varied experience that they're looking for.
For jobs in the field I just got out of, I still have limited experience, and they can tell from my resume that I'm more specialized and looking to get into a different field, so they're not interested (even if I take my current part-time work in the field off my resume, it's still in the job description of my last job and on my LinkedIn profile)
So basically, I have no options and no idea what to do next … other than keep applying for jobs that are not interested in hiring me.

So for right now, even though I want to treat this trip as “one of many,” I think I have to treat it as probably my last trip ever (or at least for a very long time). Which is why I don’t know why I’m trying to start a new collection, but whatever.

Hi Sarah! I'm subbing, looking forward to reading more and catching up on your planning so far.

I think we're planning the same trip! :) I just started my first PTR as well, and I decided last-minute to go - two days ago, I booked a LM room at AOA for mid-November for 4 days. Good times, maybe we will be neighbors! :cool1:

Hi!

I actually read your first post on your PTR - totally randomly discovered it when I was looking for new PTRs to read.

We're going early November (we wanted to be there for the tail end of Food & Wine), so we'll be just missing you :( I love last-minute trips - we did one a few years ago and it was fun to not worry about planning so far in advance.

Thanks for stopping by to say hi!

Sorry I fell behind. No internet at mom's and by time I get home I crash.

Love the updates and pics.

Completely understandable - you've got a lot going on right now, I'm amazed you have any time to be on the computer. I hope things get a little easier for you soon!

Changes to the Plan

I was very update heavy at the beginning of the week because I wanted to get the daily plans posted before I got way too busy … which is a good thing, because I got way too busy.

Of course, I could have just updated in the middle of the night every night, since my stupid insomnia was acting up earlier this week, but … I decided to wait and update during normal waking hours (thankfully the last few nights I’ve been sleeping a little better). I really hope this insomnia thing isn’t an issue on the trip (I’ve always had insomnia, but I go through periods where it’s worse and it takes me 2 hours to fall asleep, I wake up several times a night, sometimes I wake up at 5-6 and can’t fall back asleep, and I don’t end up sleeping more then 2-3 hours a night – normally these periods only last a few days, but they’ve been known to last as long as a month once in a while or stop for a few days and then return).

The purpose of today’s update is to detail changes & additions to the plan. As expected, a few things have changed since I posted my plans … but this should be the last of the changes until the actual day-of changes (I may seem super organized and planned out, but we do change a lot of things on the fly).

I will also include for each day what I plan to wear. For the most part I will be Disneybounding (which is actually kinda funny because when I first saw people talking about Disneybounding, I thought it was cute but there was no way in heck that you could get me to do it … and now I’m super excited about it). My DisneyBounding outfits probably won’t be instantly recognizable, but I’ll feel like I’m doing it, and that’s all that matters to me.

So, without further ado, changes to the plan & planned outfits (changes are organized by post, with a link back to the original post in case you missed it or can’t tell what I’m talking about

Day 1 Part 1 (Travel and Epcot Future World)
Outfit – Goofy Disneybound
Day1-Goofy.jpg

  • Orange Long-Sleeve Shirt (with white tank top underneath just for comfort – tank top shouldn’t show) – I actually bought this shirt just for the trip (but I always need more long-sleeve shirts anyway, since I wear them year-round) - and I promise, it looks more orange in real life than it does in this picture - the lighting in my room makes it look more reddish, not sure why
  • Denim Skirt – for more pictures, see 2011, 2012, and 2013 pictures … this will be this skirt’s 4th Disney trip (3rd to Florida)
  • Beige & green necklace – dug out of my old jewelry box (you can’t really see the green in the picture, but I promise you, it’s there)
  • Green magicband
  • Blue shoes
    IMG_20141030_213206049.jpg
  • Still working on something yellow/black for the vest (animated it’s black, but in the parks it’s yellow) – may do a crocheted magic band cover, if I can find yarn I like lying around the house

* We did online check in a few weeks ago. We requested ground floor (because it’s easier not to have to deal with stairs/elevator). We also requested Landscape View, because I figured Lake View is building 7, which we were in last year, and we wanted a different building. The second request was kind of whatever – the only one that’s really important to us is ground floor.

*I think Sum of all Thrills is officially off the list (for now at least). It’s a feet hanging thing, and the last one of those that my sister did was Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and that was very reluctantly (but also very awesome … in my opinion - she didn't like it, but she's not a Potter fan) – she doesn’t like them. And I didn’t realize how closed in it actually is … I’m a bit nervous that it will be too claustrophobic for me. So that’s going to be a no. Fine with me, it gives us more time to do other things.

Day 1 Part 2 (Epcot World Showcase)

*Thinking about it, I think we’ll skip checking out F&W booths (not that we had so much of that on the agenda). I’d rather spend the time on rides or meeting characters.

Day 2 Part 1 (Magic Kingdom, Part 1)
Outfit – Ariel Disneybound
Day2-Ariel.jpg

  • Purple shirt
  • Green skirt
  • Fish necklace
  • Possibly fish bracelet
  • Purple magicband
    PurpleMagicBand.jpg
  • Black leggings
  • Purple & black shoes
    IMG_20141030_213220472.jpg

*I will be wearing the same shirt to MK this year as I did last year. I spent a lot of time trying to avoid that. At least my hair is totally different, so hopefully in the future I’ll be able to differentiate the pictures.

*I saw a comment somewhere that seemed to imply (actually said outright) that at certain times Mary Poppins meets with penguin. We will be looking for the penguin. If we see Mary Poppins with a penguin, we will stop and visit them, because penguins are rare and we love rare (and, of course, we also love penguins)

*We decided that rather than going from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, we’re going to cut back across and go to Adventureland to look for characters and we’ll go through all the lands meeting characters (no rides, except possibly BTMRR if the line is super short) until we land back in Fantasyland (coming from the opposite direction than usual)

*Because we have an early morning planned and a late dinner ADR, we have all of our snacks & meals scheduled for the day –morning snack at 11, lunch at 2:30, and afternoon snack at 6. It’s only a little more spaced out than my usual snacking routine, and since we’ll be busy, I think I can make it. Last year we did a late lunch and I didn’t snack, so I was pretty grouchy by the lunchtime – we’re trying to avoid that this year.

Day 2 Part 2 (Magic Kingdom, Part 2)
*We realized that when you have FP+ for Princess Fairytale Hall (of which we have 2, sorta) you don’t see the portraits. So we’re thinking of maybe switching out the Cinderella/Rapunzel one for either Enchanted Tales with Belle or Peter Pan’s Flight. We’ll make the decision day-of based on what the wait times are (if the wait for Cinderella/Rapunzel is too long, we’ll keep the FP+ and just skip seeing the portraits).

*We had the option of moving our 7DMT FP+ for earlier in the day (apparently they released a slew of additional times this week). We discussed it, but because I’ve read good things about riding it in the dark, we decided to keep it. Not sure if that was the right decision, but we shall see. Whatever happens, happens. As they say, Anything that happens, happens. Anything that, in happening, causes something else to happen, causes something else to happen. Anything that, in happening, causes itself to happen again, happens again. It doesn't necessarily do it in chronological order, though. (Please tell me someone out there gets that ...)

*As I mentioned in a planning update, I got a Be Our Guest ADR! 9:25 PM (originally it was 8:35, but we decided to go later – for the full story, see week 13 planning update). So, that changes both lunch (will now most likely not be BOG, although I haven’t dropped the FP+ yet) and dinner/night plans. I’m trying to figure out how we can still see the projection show and the beginning of Wishes (specifically, Tinkerbell) and make it to our ADR – I think we should be able to do it, but it may be cutting it close, which makes me a bit nervous.

Day 3 Part 1 (Pre-Hollywood Studios morning)
*In terms of the running – I set up a course for myself with warm up, walk/run, and cool down (and I have maps on my computer of where I plan to go that I will transfer to my phone). Hopefully the course will be close enough to what I actually do that things will be perfect – if not, I can always do another loop around a building or something
  • Warm Up (Approx. 0.75 miles): Cut through Lion King and past Finding Nemo, go between Finding Nemo and Cars to get to Hourglass Lake, run along the lake (back towards Nemo) to the Generation Gap Bridge, and cross the bridge
  • Walk/Run (Approx. 2.75 miles): Start on Pop Century side of Generation Gap Bridge, run along Hourglass Lake past 70’s, cut between 80’s buildings and in front of 90’s to 90’s parking lot, run along 90’s parking lot, then cut between 80’s (building 9) and 70’s (building 10?), run back along Hourglass Lake until you can cut between 70’s buildings, run behind Classics Hall & then alongside it to get to 60’s parking, run along 60’s parking & 50’s parking, and at the end of 50’s parking, cut in front of 50’s building 2, run in front of building 3, then behind it to get back to Memory Lane/Hourglass Lake, run along Hourglass Lake (AWAY FROM BRIDGE) all the way around through AoA and the other side of Pop Century, until you reach the Generation Gap Bridge, go across the bridge into Art of Animation, go along the path next to Hourglass Lake until you get past the first Cars building (3), run in front of Building 2 and then in front of building 1 and follow the path to Animation Hall and end as close to Animation Hall as possible.
  • Cool Down (Hopefully 0.8-0.9 miles): Start near Animation Hall (wherever I finish – and make sure to go inside and refill water bottle), go around each of the Lion King buildings, cut behind Little Mermaid buildings to get to my building and approach it from the back.
*Reading through that running course again, it seems super complicated. I'm leaving it as a possibility, but I may just run around the lake and maybe up and down to each main hall to refill my water bottle.

Day 3 Part 2 (Hollywood Studios)
Outfit – Anna Coronation Dress Disneybound
Day3-Anna.jpg

  • Black shirt (different one than is pictured here – my regular black shirt is in the wash, but it looks much blacker than this shirt does)
  • Green dress
  • Necklace – black ribbon with gold pendant
  • Green ribbon headband
  • Black/purple shoes (probably)
  • Green magicband (not sure whether or not I’ll use the crocheted cover)

*I spoke to Disney Dining (aka my BFFs) again one day this week. We went through the kosher. So now I feel mostly better about the ADRs. We’ll see how I feel after they actually happen.

Day 3 Part 3 (Downtown Disney)
*I was discussing the Pandora bracelet thing with my sister – whether I get anything or not still depends on the price, but if I can find an “affordable” charm, I don’t necessarily need to get a bracelet – since they’re basically beads, I can wear it on a necklace and then buy the bracelet at a later time when I’m (hopefully) on less of a strict budget. So, depending on what my final budget is and how much I’m spending on other stuff, I’m thinking that if I can find a charm I really like for under $50 (under $40 would be even better), I might buy it even without the bracelet.

Day 4 Part 1 (1900 Park Fare Breakfast & Animal Kingdom Part 1)
Outfit – Minnie – This is my least developed outfit so far, but I’m working on it
Day4-Minnie.jpg

  • Minnie Mouse T-Shirt
  • Gray or white shirt underneath (haven’t decided which yet)
  • Denim Skirt
  • Blue shoes

*Looking at this post, I realized I used a lot of California 2009 pictures. I really love all of the California 2009 pictures … I looked super cute. I think part of it was the hat. I used to practically live in baseball caps, and I really don't know why I don't wear them much anymore. My Yankees hat will come with us (and possibly also one other hat because I'm wearing black on the day that the accuweather forecast predicts rain and the Yankees hat is navy), but I probably won't wear it much.

Day 4 Part 2 (Animal Kingdom Part 2)
*I should not post while half asleep … really. I think I ended up going with iced coffee, made at home.

*I’m trying to convince my sister to Disneybound as Rafiki on this day because I think it will be a cute picture when we meet Rakifi. So far I don’t think I have her convinced, but Wednesday night we spent like 20 minutes texting about what she should bring with her to wear.

Day 5 (Departure Day)
*No idea what I’m going to wear, but it will probably be the green dress because it’s easier.

*Flight is at 7, so DME will come around 4ish. Which means we’ll probably have to be up around 3ish. At what point in time is it just easier not to go to sleep?

*I’ve decided that no matter what happens, even if I can’t afford it, I want to go to Disney World in 2021 for Magic Kingdom’s 50th Birthday (but not on October 1st, because that day will be a madhouse). Bonus points if I can stay in one of the hotels that opened in 1971. I’d love to go to Disneyland for the 60th birthday next year, but I doubt that will be possible.

And those are the updates to the plan. Expect a planning update to come early next week (probably Sunday or Monday), and then maybe an occasional other update if and when something happens. Or maybe I'll just wait and update from the airport. Who knows.

Sarah, I am loving all of your "Disneybound" clothes. The changes sound good. There is NO way you would get me to do Sum of All Thrills EVER!

I hope your insomnia doesn't creep up on you on vacation.

OMG, I love your themed outfits! I plan what I'm going to wear, but not with a theme. It's a really cool idea! So fun.

Thanks! Insomnia has been a little better the past few days, so I'm hoping it's taking a break for a few weeks.

Thanks! This is the first time I'm doing the themed outfits. There's this incredible blog that I got a lot of inspiration from - http://disneybound.tumblr.com/ - she really does amazing stuff. She has accessories and shoes to match every outfit, but I can't put in that kind of commitment.

Its the month you go to Disney!! :yay::cheer2::yay:

Great plans. I think you mentioned NOT doing the Frozen sing-a-long. I wasn't sure why since you said you liked the movie but I wanted to encourage you (if you have the time) to try and see it. I thought it was really, really, cute. I don't think it would be a must do every trip cute (if it sticks around) but very fun!

Love your Disney Bound outfits. I have too many Disney clothes (skirts....ha!) to Disney Bound for a whole trip but would love to do it for a day.

Nice job on mapping out the run. When I went for a run at Saratoga I just took the running map the front desk gives you and tried to follow along. Your plan is probably better. :)

Yup - it's very exciting. Almost trip time!

I think what really scared us off was the fact that we thought it world be mostly kids. And we're not really sing along type people (that's why I never saw the movie in theaters - by the time I got around to seeing it, only the sing along version was playing near me). Maybe we'll think about it if we have time.

thanks! If I had your Disney skirts I'd wear those most of the time too ... But you should definitely try Disney bounding one day, it's a lot of fun putting the outfits together.

Thanks. I don't know if I'll follow the route or just run around the lake, but I wanted to have something planned out.
