All in the Golden Afternoon... Epcot's Flower & Garden

Chrissy, your photos are spectacular and I thank you so much for sharing them with us. Simply beautiful.

Thank you Kathy. :goodvibes And you're very welcome. LOL. I'd like to say that during your trip in Sept we have to meet up, even if it is only for a few mins at some point. :)

Well I guess I can also add another photo on here.

It's not Disney related but now you guys know I like to bake so why not share this. My sister suggested the recipe, it was listed in Rachel Ray's may magazine - I present 'Almond Joy Cake'. It's chocolate cake with coconut flakes mixed into the batter, then layered with a coconut and toasted almond glaze, and topped with whipped cream and toasted almonds. I think I did a good job. :rotfl:

Poor Megan, although that seems to be a common fear since Molly mentioned her girls had the same reaction. Well you can show her these pics so she doesn't feel like she missed out on it. :)

Thank you Molly. :) How interesting that your girls and Lisa's daughter Megan had the same reaction.

Do you really want to see bug photos? :rotfl: Let me see if I can convince DF to try to go to Disney one of these days this week to take some more photos to upload of things for you. Perhaps the new queue of Haunted Mansion (which is awesome to play around with!!).

That IS funny that Lisa's daughter also had a similar reaction! (Lisa, I've been a silent lurker on your TR :goodvibes)

Um, no bug photos for me! I was kidding! I hate bugs:eek:. And snakes, sharks and spiders in case you were wondering.:rotfl:

Ooooh, totally post some Haunted Mansion pictures!!:thumbsup2 I'd love to see the new queue! HM is seriously one of my favorites, we rode it many times this past February, even got stuck on it for a few minutes. How often do you and your DF venture into Disney? I'd hate for you to make a special trip just to get HM pictures for me.

Have a great night Crissy.:goodvibes

Oh my word! That cake has three of my favorite things...chocolate, coconut and almonds. It looks delicious, you did a fantastic job on it! How did it taste?

I am drooling!!!!!! YUMMY!!!! I make a snickers cake (about once every five years it is far too rich) and it made me think of that. YUMMY!!!!!

LOVED the finale of your TR...time to go again so you can write us some more!!!!

Just a really quick update but I'm going to a dessert party at Epcot tonight!! Woo-hoo!! :rotfl: I went to scope out another wedding today with the bride I met last week. She had already been invited to the dessert party, I was a last minute addition. I'm hoping the couple is ok with me going, it was more of an on the spot thing. :rotfl:

We started off getting our annual passes last May for the F&G show and now we'll be ending them at the F&G show with a big bang!! I don't think we'll be renewing our passes (I'm so sad, they expire on Friday), so its nice to go out with something fancy.

Wow a snickers cake. You have to share the recipe when you have a chance. That cake is taking its time in this house. It is on the sweet side, so I'm guessing thats why its taking so long to finish it. :) I'm hoping to attempt to make some home made marshmallows this weekend. LOL, can you tell I have too much free time?

Have a great time, Chrissy and hope you take lots of pics. :)

We opted not to bring the camera because we had to do some running around before hand. So sadly I have no new photos to add. :(

It was fun at the party. I made a new friend (YAY!) and had a blast. If anyone decides to do the Illuminations dessert party for any reason (I imagine that would be a great meet and greet for a Dismeet) the UK Lochside was an awesome viewing location. You get that feeling as if the firework show was just for you and your group. :goodvibes

I have ways to still get in the park. :rolleyes1 Particularly since I want to work there. I'd technically be there already for any meeting of Dis friends. :goodvibes: Or as an employee you have a few free passes that you can use to go into the park.

I didn't forget to respond to you Molly. :)

I remember the sharks thing from Tim's thread. Wait - so can you go in to Its Tough to be a Bug at AK? :rotfl:

I didn't get to make it to the HM. But I swear to you the queue is AWESOME! We always get stuck on the HM. DF loves it when we get stuck in that blast of cold air. I remember one time it was pouring outside when we finished the ride and the CM's told people they couldn't have them stand in the doorway that if we wanted we could ride the ride again. I swear we rode it 6 times in a row while it was raining out. When were both unemployed we were probably averaging a visit every 2 weeks. For the Food & Wine we were there every couple of days because we wanted to see the performers. It got to the point that we had to skip Epcot for a bit because we needed a break from it. Once DF started working it became more like once a month. I wish I would've paid attention to how many times we went during the year so I could've broke down the cost. I would've loved to say I paid like $4.50 for each day I went. LOL, could you imagine if that was the cost.

happy you have a fun time at the dessert party!!!

keeping fingers crossed you get to be a CM!!! SOON!!

Once again, you have taken great pics of the butterflies! I can't believe I haven't been here to comment on them.... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Hope you had a nice time at the Wishes dessert party! popcorn::

I didn't forget to respond to you Molly. :)

Aw, thanks Crissy.:flower3: For the record, I didn't think that either!

I remember the sharks thing from Tim's thread. Wait - so can you go in to Its Tough to be a Bug at AK? :rotfl:

:laughing:You have a good memory! Yes, I have a serious shark phobia. I only go in the ocean up to my toes! I can handle It's Tough to be a Bug though, because I know it's fake! But I have to admit, everytime that little group of bugs scurry across the seat under you, I scream!

I've read really great things about the new HM queue too!:thumbsup2 How fun to ride over and over again. We got stuck right at the part where the dinner banquet and dancing is going on which happens to be my favorite part, score!:thumbsup2

Oh, now I'm just jealous that about the cost you mentioned! Ugh, it's probably a good thing I don't live in Orlando, I'd drag DH there every single weekend!

Have a great weekend.:goodvibes

Dearest Crissy, Please forgive my MIA lately...I wish you were HERE with me, I could put you to work...problem is I couldn't pay you...I love seeing all of the TR's and your meeting so many people and I can't WAIT until it is OUR TURN to meet you!!!!! I will write the Snicker's Cake Recipe down for you (It is ALL in my head, whcih is bad since my head feels as if it is ready to :scared1::scared1: lately). I fear it will stay in your hause a LONG time because it truly IS super rich (but also super addiciting, which is why I haven't made it in ages...) Praying all is well!!!:flower3::hug:

Shame on me, has it really been a week since I was on here? LOL. Well DF has been off for a few days and we've just been trying to catch up on errands. And of course, squeezing in driving lessons. For those that don't know because I can't remember who I've told, no I don't drive YET. But that'll be changing soon. I honestly think I am ok on the road. It's the parking that's killing me. :lmao:

happy you have a fun time at the dessert party!!!

keeping fingers crossed you get to be a CM!!! SOON!!

Cross your fingers, your toes, your eyes, everything. LOL. Well maybe not your eyes, that might hurt after awhile. Once I pass my driver's test, I think the next day I'll be in casting. :rotfl: I definitely suggest people do a dessert party if they've got a big group. It was really nice to have a reserved seating area for fireworks. And the view was fantastic! DF turned to me and was like 'Yeah, we've got to do this when we get married'. :)

Once again, you have taken great pics of the butterflies! I can't believe I haven't been here to comment on them.... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Aw Tim, that's ok that you haven't made it here. I totally understand. Thank you for the compliments on the pics. Yes, I did have a fun time at the dessert party.

Aw, thanks Crissy.:flower3: For the record, I didn't think that either!

Wouldn't it be cool if that was the cost per day for all my trips to Disney. I really wish I had kept better track of it. Although to be fair, Disney made their money back because it's not like we didn't buy stuff when we there.

Question - does anybody remember at the scene where the dancers are in the HM that you could see a shadow on the floor/track of the doom buggies? Like as if one of the ghosts were sitting on top of your car? DF noticed it when we rode it but I don't know if thats also a new addition to the ride. And there's a new hidden mickey at the end of the cemetary scene too, I forgot to mention that too.

LOL, come on Molly move down to FL. It's a great place to live. ;) And then we could hang out from time to time. Just teasing, trust me I know how big of a decision that is.

My dearest Judy!!! Don't worry about not being on here, I know how busy you are. By the way, my current rate for working would be hugs and home made cards from kids so if I were closer, you'd have no problem paying me to help you! Yes, send the recipe whenever you can. It's no rush.

I am hoping to sneak in tomorrow to HS to check out Star Tours. I told you I had secret ways to get in :rolleyes1 . We'll see if I can get in because I hear lots of talk about it reaching capacity and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get in. I've made plans to meet up with lovethattink that some of you may have seen on Judy, Tims, and I think Kathy's TR. Don't you just love the circle of friends you make on here. :goodvibes Anyway we are hoping to get in but worse come to worse I think we might go to a different park. I'm hoping to snap some pics tomorrow. And yes, I know I still owe pics of my in the beaker hat.

I remember you mentioning that about driving, I think on Tim's thread? I hope it's going well! Parking was hard for me too. Funny thing was that I couldn't parallel park to save my life as a teenager but now I'm better at it than my DH! Weird phenomenon, right?

Okey-dokey, everything's crossed that can be!:thumbsup2 Casting?? I recall you mentioning you were trying to get a job at Disney but had to be driving to do so. Is that the only hang up, then you can begin work there?? Oh, the dessert party sounds heavenly! Perfect place for your reception Crissy. I hope you can do it.

Hmm, I think $4 a day sounds pretty reasonable! What stuff do you buy, other than Beaker merchandise?;)

I'm trying to remember but I *think* that sounds new. I don't recall a shadow on the doom buggy, except the hitchhiking hand one at the end of the ride. A hidden Mickey?? Oh boy, I'll be scanning for that!! My girls and I love hunting for them.

LOL, come on Molly move down to FL. It's a great place to live. ;) And then we could hang out from time to time. Just teasing, trust me I know how big of a decision that is.

Ha ha! Sure, I'll be right down! DH isn't too keen on Florida unfortunately and his job security is up here. But I agree, we could hang out!:thumbsup2 If we come this winter (possibly January) I'll let you know so maybe we could meet up.:goodvibes

Really? Lucky dog! I hope you can get in!! I'm so excited about the new Star Tours. I grew up watching Star Wars and even kicked my brother-in-law's butt at a SW trivia game.

Have fun at your Dismeet too!:goodvibes

good luck with the driving! I still have problems with parallel parking unless I have a big area to land :lmao:
will keep lots of :goodvibes and :wizard: heading your way to becoming the BEST CM Disney will ever have!!!!
hope you get in to see Star Wars, have fun with Tink and Anakin!

Thankfully they don't test you on parallel parking out here. They test you on head in parking along two cars. My problem is I have a tendency to pull in really close on the drivers side. My guess is the parking spots are probably big (at least that is what I am hoping for) on the test but DF's got one of those small versions of a pick up truck so it's big.

Yes, I technically have one foot in the door for Disney. So you can imagine how badly I want to hurry up and get in. The driving really is the only thing holding me up.

Let's see, we picked up the Tables of Wonderland card a few months after we got the annual passes. I'm still confused at the savings on that. They take off 20% off but the tip is 18%, so I'm saving 2%. It seems odd to me. We've used it a few times, maybe its a better savings for people who like to get apps, entree's, and dessert all in one sitting, which we usually don't do because we get too stuffed. Let's see what else do we get - Of course there is the random dole whip, ice cream from Main St, cinnamon bun from Main St, etc. :rotfl:

Oh yes, please do let me know whenever you do come down so we can meet up for a bit. :)

Ok, I won't tell you the location for the new Hidden Mickey, I'll just say keep your eyes peeled at the end of the cemetary. Well DF will be happy to know that the shadow at the ballroom seems to be another new addition. I wonder how many people will notice it because you don't see it unless you are leaning forward in the ride.

I didn't make it to HS today. Tink's son Anakin wasn't feeling well yesterday so she thought it was best to not to try to rush him in to HS this morning. I couldn't blame her. It's supposed to be really hot today in the 90's and I can only imagine the crowds. I was up at 3am and the local news channel was interviewing people who were already camping out at the parks. :scared1: Camping out? I didn't even know Disney allowed this. I think I'll hold off a few days before trying to to get into HS.

good luck with the driving! I still have problems with parallel parking unless I have a big area to land :lmao:
will keep lots of :goodvibes and :wizard: heading your way to becoming the BEST CM Disney will ever have!!!!
hope you get in to see Star Wars, have fun with Tink and Anakin!

Thank you Lisa for the good luck wishes. :goodvibes Aw, I would love to be the BEST CM Disney ever had. It's my goal. DF says I should be aiming for Guest Relations - he's thinks its an area I'd enjoy. I think they tend to hire the college program kids for that so we'll see. So far they only have openings for the rides (attractions) and quick service. I'm not 100% thrilled for those but I also know that once I put in the 6 months, I could try to transfer into another spot. And the main thing is just being in there. :)

As I mentioned earlier I didn't make it to HS today. I can only imagine the craziness going on there. I think maybe I'll aim for a weekday to check out HS. I think this weekend and next weekend (Memorial Day) will be really busy. But I promise to take lots of photos to share. :goodvibes

Chrissy, hope you got into the Studios and can give us a first hand update on the new Star Tours ride. :goodvibes
