All I Want For Christmas Is an Okapi, a Dinosaur, a Herd of Elephants and ...

Brooklynn looks so cute and proud getting her camera inspected. LOVE IT!!!!

I also have no reason when it comes to Disney trips. Spend it and start saving to do it again is the name of the game. :upsidedow. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Unless of course I were just independently wealthy and could visit any old time.

Wealthy sounds good. Maybe I could get us some DVC points and Jill could stay at Boardwalk like she wants to. :)

I have a retirement plan, so I am hoping that between that, what I get out of my house when it is sold, whatever part-time (or new full-time) job I have, and the kindness of my children, I will able to live a semi-comfortable life and still make a couple of Disney trips a year. We'll see, if I ever get to retirement.

She is so proud of having to get her bag checked. A right of passage for sure. :thumbsup2

Yep. She had no idea why he was checking it. She probably thought he was just admiring her new camera.

Did you notice her with it in the ME line a few pages back? ;)

Subbing in so I don't lose the link. I have to say that I'm jealous of little Brooklyn and all of her visits! :thumbsup2 She is one lucky girl!!

She is a lucky girl. I hope she will always love the experience and not think it gets old or boring after a while. When I was talking to Jill this morning, Bella was in the backseat saying she was ready to go to Dizhy Wuhld today. :lovestruc

Jill did tell the girls we were eating in the castle this summer, and she said they were both quite excited, especially Brooklynn, since she has a little better grasp on the meaning of that.

I love the pictures you capture. Brroklyn at bag check is so cute.

Thanks. I just shoot the pictures to try to make everyone who sees them be able to feel like they are right there in that spot. Some of the pictures are silly, but I might think it's a place where the viewer can use his/her senses to add to the picture to 'be there'.

Brooklyn certainly looks like she thinks she is big stuff having her bag inspected. :rotfl: I wish standing in that line was still a thrill for me.

Love the pictures of the castle lighting. I would hazard to guess that if I ever see it in person, I will be a big teary mess. :goodvibes

Wish you could have been with us this year. Maybe next year? You can give us pictures, since we won't be there.

I'm late but I finally made it over!
I remember reading about John getting in trouble on Facebook! Good thing Jill is quick! My youngest was the same way! He could get away from ya in the blink of an eye!
I love the castle at Christmas time! Last time I was there to see it was in 2007! Can't wait to see it again!
Looking forward to more!

Yeah, I believe Jill told on John pretty much immediately on Facebook.

I only missed last Christmas and I was ready to see the decorations again. I know you are ready to after that many years!

I also love the pic of Brooklynn at bag check. So cute!! I on the other hand try to stuff my pockets full so I do not have to go through that.

I would love to see that castle lit up like that. Hopefully someday.

Bag check is so iffy. I try to put all the little things in a gallon bag. I open the zipper, pull the bag up where they can see the bottom, and I am usually through it pretty quickly. There is not consistency at all in the checkers.

It will happen for you. :goodvibes

I'm a little late but I've found you all! :)

I love the shot of MeMom in the car with all the bags/strollers on top! I've been there-done that!

Brooklyn looks soo cute waiting for her bag to be checked!

My DS has been asking about every week to go back to Disney. He always gets this really sad face and asks if we can go back. It breaks my heart cause that's how I feel too! :rotfl: I tell him we have to save our money (and it's not like we didn't just go in September!) and then we'll go.

But September was soooo looong ago, Mommy! :sad1:
Keep saving those pennies and start planning the next trip! :woohoo:

So glad you are here. :)

Just popping in to say 'hi' and glad to say I'll be following along again.
I've been away from the Dis for such a long time - almost since our own trip last August - I've missed so much of your previous TR but hoping to find a bit more time again and keep up with this one. I love reading your TRs!

We are glad you enjoy them. More pictures tomorrow night, most likely. Friday night is crash night for me. I hang out with my 'puter and HGTV. :goodvibes

Oh friends, I SO wish I was back in FL right now!! We're forecasted to get our first big snow storm of the year tomorrow. Super. :headache: About this time each year, I try and figure out how fast I could pack my bags and move to FL. Honestly, I think about it every year! If it weren't for my two sweet nieces only 4 hours away, I'd already be there!!! :woohoo:

Stay warm this weekend, everyone!! :santa:

We have a warming trend on the way. We are supposed to have highs in the 50's for most of the next ten days, but there will be some rain. Those temperatures are wonderful for us for January. Even though I won't be so thrilled with the rain, I will be happy that the heater won't be running ovetime like it was in our frigid temperatures last winter.

I might move to Florida, too, if I could get my entire family to go. I really do like the seasons here in TN, and I would probably miss that. I think some of the northerners have it right - stay up north for the summer and go to Florida in the winter. :thumbsup2

BIG NEWS IN NASHVILLE:

http://www.wkrn.com/story/16556228/gaylord-opryland-theme-park

Your TR is off to a great start! I'd love, love, love to go at Christmas, by my DH is against it. We've gone the last week of January both times and the crowds are so low, he can't imagine going when it is busy. However, as the kids get older, it is more difficult for them to miss school. I'm also considering trying to get a full time teaching job, so a school year trip will be out for sure.

Big news for your area with a new theme park! How exciting! My parents have a cabin in Pigeon Forge and love going to Dollywood. I'm sure the new park will be very nice!

Nope Memom, I have never been during the holidays!! I just haven't made my way down there yet. So Disney decorated at Christmas still alludes me!

I saw this with my daily amusement email I get. Sounds exciting and a way to bring back a park in that area.

It would be easy to get spoiled to going during the off-season. I really like going when everything is not so blazing hot, too, like in October or December or March, but summer is the time when we can take the most days, so we deal with the heat and the afternoon thunderstorms and the crowds for those trips. With the way so many schools are spreading out the calendars now, there are not too many weeks in a year, I bet, that Disney World is really, really slow.

What grade or subject do you want to teach?

I have been wanting to go to Dollywood for several years. I guess Dolly figured out we were never gonna get there and decided to bring the park to us! ;) If this place really does get built, I know the girls will really enjoy it.

It is sure pretty. :)

It will be fun to watch it happen. People around here have mourned Opryland and will really enjoy having a new entertainment venue.

I will go and read that article in a minute. :thumbsup2

yay.. I am finally on board. I leave for Disney today... yay!!

You came over here to brag about leaving for Disney World????

Just kidding. Have an awesome time, and bring back some good pictures.

I was going to put up new pictures tonight, but I went to bed last night coughing, and I woke up coughing, stuffed up, and with a sore throat. Had I not already had such a choppy couple of weeks, I would have stayed home, but I went on, knowing I could crash tonight.

Which is what I am going to do.

My eyes hurt, ears hurt, head hurts, throat is raw - just sinusy crud, I guess, so I am going to put away the computer and fall asleep to HGTV in a short while. I took some Nyquil, so that will knock me out and hopefully take care of all my issues while I am sleeping.

Hope you all have a good evening, and I will put up the next set of pictures tomorrow.

The new park in Nashville sounds fun! I have vague recollections of Dollywood and Opryland from trips with my mum and dad when I was young. Hope you feel better soon

Feel better. i'm looking forward to the next update.

Sorry you are feeling cruddy!
I sure hope that you wake up to a "great big beautiful tomorrow" and all of your symptoms are gone!

 Hope you feel better soon!

Your TN news sounds very exciting and fun! :thumbsup2

Lexi had a P.D. day today so we went and saw Beauty & the Beast in 3D and it was great!
The story just popped out at you! Being my favorite...I was enchanted from start to finish.
Now I can't wait for Nemo in 3D coming in this fall.

We have news of our own around here:

We have decided to book a trip for next January. :woohoo:
We really enjoyed ourselves in the cooler weather but felt too rushed so close to Christmas so we are going a bit later.
I'm bummed to miss the decorations but I will look forward to it never the less.
It's still Disney!!!!
We also decided to bump our cruise til then.
Got the all clear from my boss so we are happy about that.

Sleep well. :goodvibes

Hope you're enjoying sweet dreams tonight, MeMom, and a long healing sleep. I dozed off to HGTV tonight, too! All tuckered out from shoveling snow. It's good exercise, though, and Mickey & gang help -- I use my resort mug to sprinkle de-icer. Then a nice, hot tea in my favorite Minnie mug thaws my popsicle fingers. Ahhh.
I'm so glad I got to catch up here before turning in for good. All your MK pics brought Christmas back to life for me. :wizard: And just in time for our belated family Christmas celebration tomorrow, now that Mom is better. :santa: We'll be whooping it up for missed birthdays, too. Better rest up now. There'll be more shoveling and a ton of wrapping in the morning!

Get better soon. That's one on the side effects of working with children isn't it!! You get every bug going. The number of times i am sat working with a child and they cough or sneeze in your face. Bleurgh!!!:rotfl:
Looking forward to your next lot of lovely photo's.

I hope they have plenty of shows with whatever they open back up. I really enjoyed the shows Opryland had. I figure with Dolly in the mix, they will. I think all of the kids up to their 20's will love any of the rides, since we have had nothing like this during their generation.

Thanks. My head feels better right this minute and only one ear hurts, but I can add gunky eyes to the list now. :upsidedow

Feel better. i'm looking forward to the next update.

I will have that for you this morning. :thumbsup2

I hope you have a restful sleep tonight.

I was up four times, and at 2 something I stayed awake a little while. I fell back asleep with the computer in my lap probably around 3:20, so if I wrote anything on any of your reports during that time, I do not know what it might have been, and I take no responsibility for it.

Sorry you are feeling cruddy!
I sure hope that you wake up to a "great big beautiful tomorrow" and all of your symptoms are gone!

Cruddy is a good word for it.
At least one symptom is gone for the moment. My headache has subsided for now. I've been sucking down Advil, antihistamine, and Nyquil.

Feel better soon!

Thanks. I hope it'll be short-lived.

Ugh, nothing worse than a winter cold! Feel better soon!

I don't know if I 'caught' a cold or if it is some kind of sinus issue. If my throat gets worse, I guess I will go get a strep test on Monday, but hopefully it wil be better by then.

Feel better MeMom!

Thanks. I hope to do that very quickly. :thumbsup2

Such exciting things you have to look forward to! :cool1: You got to see plenty of decorations this year, though, and you will be better off going during a slower period, since you can.

I want to see Beauty and the Beast, but I don't know how long it will be out, and I don't know if Bella would sit through a long show with the 3D glasses.

Hope you're enjoying sweet dreams tonight, MeMom, and a long healing sleep. I dozed off to HGTV tonight, too! All tuckered out from shoveling snow. Enjoy that family celebration! :dance3: So glad your mom can be back among the group. :goodvibes

Drew is the only coffee drinker in this house, so we don't have a lot of mugs. Almost all of them are Disney ones, though, that I've brought back to him from trips. ;) I borrow them to have hot chocolate occasionally.

So far, we have been very lucky on our snow. The next few days are supposed to get up to the 50's, so I think we're clear for a little while. :thumbsup2 (Of snow, anyway. We have some rain coming.)

Looking forward to your next lot of lovely photo's.

I have been fortunate not to get sick very often. Maybe twice a year I have a spell where I lose my voice. I don't necessarily feel bad, but my voice goes raspy. I think that might be more allergy related than anything. This feels like an old-fashioned cold with lots of symptoms. I can't stop coughing, and that is making me choke and making my ribs hurt.

I will get to the next batch of pictures in a little while. I am going to go fix some Cream of Wheat for breakfast. I barely ate anything yesterday, so I am feeling a bit hungry. I probably need to keep this cold long enough to help me shed off about 60 pounds. :rolleyes1
