All DVC owners need to contact member services to complain about the NBA

DVC at beach club is very small compared to the rest of the resort and and Yacht Club. Something like 282 or so rooms in DVC vs 1213 cash side between beach and yacht. If it wasn't for timeshare laws it probably wouldn't even be opening.

Villas Grand Floridian very small too. 147 and there are 847 cash side that aren't even opening. I'm surprised they are even running as many amenities as they are for those resorts and not just offering to move people elsewhere. I mean with VGF they have the whole main building available for services DVC essentially.

because they are using and blocking other people from using amenities normally paid in part by DVC members of those two resorts. (BC and GF) at least this is what people are hypothesizing will happen. I also think some people are upset because of the fencing going up is ugly, tacky, and ruins the ambiance of the resort.

I've also seen stuff about them getting designated outdoor basketball courts like at the contemporary. So if you're staying at Bay Lake tower you will not have access to the sports court which you normally would... If this is true. people who own at Bay Lake tower pay for the upkeep of that basketball court and should not be blocked out of it

If it is not part of the condo aspect, and we only pay to use, then BLT owners can expect to not be charged.

I do get that people may be upset that certain things we are used to getting may not be available, but if what we have is right to use, subject to Disney, then making sure charges are not happening is what would be important,

Again, Disney May also be still paying for some things even though bulk of rooms are not open. The cost for the Beaches pool at GF...it’s open exclusively to VGF during this time and I wonder if Disney is paying because they took out use of courtyard pool. For those interested, it’s a good thing to ask,

I guess the point is that while somethings may be an inconvenience like a blocked sidewalk or an ugly fence, Disney could be in turn picking up some of the same costs as always, even though they only have NBA.

In the end, DVCs share may not be increasing to cover loss of occupancy overall.

I will say people going on a budget have nothing to be ashamed of. They can treat rooms as good or bad as people staying in deluxe.

It's always important to remember that money means different things to different people. It is, for example, easier for me to decide to get a giant Starbucks hoohoohooaccino on a whim than it might be for a single mother of two who never gets child support on time. And how people prioritize the use of the money they have also varies considerably. Someone may have paid off law school loans and a partnership, but like AOA LM rooms because of good memories, or because they're park warriors, or maybe they had to work nights all the way through law school and still scrimp. (An ex-boyfriend's dad was kinda like this. In his fancy reserved parking for a partner at a Chicago law firm, he invariably was driving the cheapest American made car he could buy, replaced every 8 years. But he paid cash for both his kids through masters programs. He had his spending priorities.)

Indeed. That’s why I said traveling on a budget as opposed to not having money.
My friends uncle was a multi, multi millionaire. Heck of a philanthropist. He would give 50k to someone he barely knew for education at a drop of a hat. But he drove a beat up little car, dressed like a homeless guy and ate a inexpensive deli’s.

i guarantee when staying at a hotel he treated those rooms like gold. But he stayed at best western.
Point being. Don’t judge how much care one takes because of the room they rent.

I keep reading people saying that Disney will not be charging us for the items that we will not have use of like pools and other items that the NBA may be using. Here is my problem with that. First we have already paid our maint fees for this year so we have essentially prepaid for the use of these things. It would be different if we paid after the fact. Second it is a bad precedent to set.

Think of it this way you pay rent for a house that you live in with the owner. This house has a lot next door with a nice pool and a patio. You pay an additional $30 per month to maintain and use the pool and patio. There is no choice in paying this $30 it is mandatory if you want to rent the house, which you do. You have always had access to the pool and patio except if either are under maintenance and the maintenance has always been announced far in advance. In June you plan to have some friends over on the 4th to use the pool and the patio. The 3rd roles around and you notice a big fence go up around the pool and patio and the owner comes out and says that somebody else offered them more money to use the pool and patio for the 3rd and forth and hands you 2 dollars and basically says too bad suck it up I don't care about your plans or how far in advance you made them. Remember Disney has not even announced that we will not have use of the common areas. Now you get to thinking that every time the owner wants to rent out the pool and patio he can do it and all he owes you is a pittance to do this. He isn't going to announce it and it may be the very days that you want to use it. But you have to pay to maintain it.

My personal opinion is that if you take my money up front you have a moral obligation to provide the common areas that you are charging me to maintain. It may not be a legal obligation, but it is the right thing to do. I read so many people on here stating that we have no right to anything but a room. You are 100% correct, but as long as Disney charges DVC to maintain the common areas and as long as we have paid our dues in advance to use these areas I feel as though we have a right to use that which we are paying for. Disney can stop charging us to maintain the areas anytime they wish. But as long as they do I feel as though I have a right to use them when I am there. If Disney doesn't then they are as bad as the rest of the scummy timeshare operators out there.

Disney's new motto can be "We love you as long as there is not a better offer."

We do pay ahead of time based on estimated expenses and then adjustments are made If something happens. They have said that any credit we have for the 2020 issues will be applied on our 2021 bill,

Disney owned property and amenities are Disney owned property and amenities and if they have a reason...whether we like it or not..to close them to DVC owners, then unfortunately, it’s part of it,

Shockingly, when projecting annual resort expenses, Disney didn't include global pandemic infecting millions in their projections.

Budgets are expected outlay. Stuff happens. Sometimes really big stuff.

So many threads with posts comparing cash vs. timeshare, value vs. deluxe/DVC etc. Just because you’re choosing to stay at a Value doesn’t mean you are a lesser guest than someone else staying club level, grand villa, cabins, or bungalows. Likewise, DVC owners are not superior to non-owners. Disney is for everyone and I hope that anyone who truly wants to experience it has that opportunity. If that means staying offsite in a tent, packing sandwiches and going only one day, I say go for it! That’s pretty much how my grandparents did when I was little. We stayed at Jellystone campgrounds in the heat of July! I think sometimes we need to really listen to the message that many Disney stories and songs reflect. Illuminations didn’t say “we are one,( except people staying the all stars)”.

They should stay in the "bubble" of their designated indoor practice facilities and not disrupt other guests. IF there is truth to NBA using outdoor courts, guess the ugly blue fencing will go up around the courts so guests cannot gawk at them, lol!

Upgrades for cash guests to DVC accommodations isn’t a new concept. Last year my brother paid for a 9 night cash stay (with 30% discount) in a 1 bed and got upgraded to a cabin - for all 9 nights. Guessing they oversold the resort. Nothing was vandalized or destroyed to the best of my knowledge.

Upgrades for cash guests to DVC accommodations isn’t a new concept. Last year my brother paid for a 9 night cash stay (with 30% discount) in a 1 bed and got upgraded to a cabin - for all 9 nights. Guessing they oversold the resort. Nothing was vandalized or destroyed to the best of my knowledge.

Good for him. With kind of money that he paid for a 1 Bedroom cash he deserves to get upgraded if possible. I always think the the cash price for DVC resorts is outrageous. Many of those cabins remain empty so it's good that somebody gets to enjoy them. Those cabins and bungalows were just a cash grab for Disney. A way to drastically increase the points they could sell with a much smaller investment than say building a new long house at the Poly or adding more structure to the WL main building. Disney got the best of both worlds with those cabins an bungalows they got the extra points to sell and they get almost guaranteed breakage.
