I'd like to find out everything I can about DQ. My DD is about to turn 10 and would like to spend the day at DQ for her B-day. I'd hate for it to be a let down although I'm sure it won't be. I'd really like to know what to expect. Things like crowds, lines, places to eat, games or rides to do and what to avoid. She says there is a place where you design a coaster and you ride this virtual coaster also. Is this so and is it worth it or does she have her hopes up too high. I'd really appreciate all the info you can throw at me.

Thanks a bunch
Patti

We went there on our last trip and our kids, DS 12, DD 10 just loved it. My DD made a wild roller coaster ride, spinning herself upside down many times and discovered she loved it. You can buy a video of them 'riding' the coaster they make, it is fun to watch. There were lots of games to play and most of the time there were very little lines. Some things had lines, the longest were for the bumper cars, but many others had little or no lines. We were there at a busy time of year ( always are there at a busy time of year since we have to go at the kids spring break ), but DQ was not too bad. It was a nice day outside,so it is very possible that on a rainy day it is not the best place to be.

All I can say is that the drug companies do not make enough asprin to convince me to return to that place. Once was more than enough and I'd normally do anything for my DS. We went last week during our vacation and it was terrible. Long, long lines for all of the "cool" attractions like the roller coaster maker, bumper cars, raft ride, jungle cruise, ect. Imagine your local arcarde and then imagine it being multiplied by a million. While you expect lines at WDW the noise in that place was just too much. We did go in the afternoon on a day that was hotter than heck so that may have made a difference.

Your DD will probably love it but if you go may I suggest the Cheesecake factory lounge? Nice treats, couches, and a few internet ready computers. We took a short break in there and it made a big difference. I told my DS that he could go back in a few years when he is old enough to go by himself

:rotfl: I agree! This place is way to much for me! Im not into video games. But my husband and 2 sons love it! What we usually do is go right when they open, ill ride a few of the reality rides like Pirates, and aliens, then ill go shopping in Downtown Disney and meet them for a early dinner at Fultons!

My DS (15) really enjoys DQ. We had a good time there last month. As with the theme parks, get there early. I believe they open at 11am or 11:30am.
At opening and for the first couple of hours it is great. My DS made a wild roller coaster and I watched from the outside when he rode it. The Pirates of the Caribbean was a lot of fun. We also were on a raft ride that you had to paddle around obstacles....a LOT of work paddling, but loads of fun.
Don't go on a rainy day as it will be very crowded. Plan on a few hours one morning and you should have a great time.

Thanks for all the great advice and the links to allears. I've been there before and did not even think of checking there. As always when I have a dis ? I head straight for the boards here :)

I can see I need to do a few extra things to get ready for this trip.
1. pay extra close attention to the weather.
2. make sure we get an early start.
3. Bring earplugs and aspirin!
4. get a good nights rest the night before.

Thanks again. You guys are great!

Disney Quest has been a must do for my son & his friend for years. We even bought annual passes a couple of years. There is even enough to entertain me although I usually spend a few hours in the morning, break for shopping in downtown disney, then return later for more fun.

One of my very favorite things to do is the Animation lessons. You can even purchase your finished drawing. It comes in a folder with a certificate. I think it's $4 or $5 and makes a great souvenier.

The food is great for lunch. It's run by the Cheesecake Factory. Yummy desserts.

ITA! We love DQ, and when we go to Orlando, even if we skip the parks (shocking, I know) we always go to Disney Quest.

I will admit that I often bring a book and settle in on one of the chairs in the food area to wait for my DH and kids. I have some motion sickness issues. The noise does not bother me - I have two kids, after all!

We always go on a hot and beautiful day because that is when DQ is least crowded. It's a nice break from the heat, and we use DQ for our rest day when we do the parks.

For our next trip, we may spend two days there. When I asked my DS14 if this would be too much, he said, a week at DQ would not be too much! :bounce: We have a great video of him "riding" the roller coaster that he designed, and it's really a great souvenir.

My DD11, who is not a video game nut, loves DQ. Her favorites are Pirates of the Caribbean, Virtual Jungle Cruise, the Buzz Lightyear ride, and animation lessons. She is really proud of the Goofy she drew on 5-5-05! :Pinkbounc

Have a great time! :wave2:

Our family always does a boys/girls day during a week at Disney. My dd and I go in search of all things princess, while my dh and 2 ds's 14 always opt to spend their day at Disney Quest. I've never been, but they consider it a real highlight of their week.
