All Aboard! The Great Land and Sea Getaway - May 2009 PTR

couple of things to add...

you might be able to get the shirts sent to your hotel since you are staying on property...

going up 400 feet in a balloon is madness, I tell ya! :scared1:

 I know how you feel about the balloon, leaves me a bit nervous. My Mom keeps telling me there is nothing to fear, it is well tethered but I am still :scared:.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 on the plans!

OOOOO, border patrol. I'd be like your mom. You know how I am about the Popo!:scared1:

BTW, STAR WARS trivia on Tuesday at 8:30 PM.

:lmao: I'll try and be there, I have been having technical issues with Enchanted lately.

Only 25 days to go! :woohoo:

May 17th

Our first full day in the parks! Today we are heading to Epcot for several reasons:

1) A certain tour guide indicated it would be a good day
2) Flower and Garden festival - can't wait to see all the beautiful flowers and topiaries.
3) The Mammoth May Meet

We plan on being at the park for rope drop. While in my normal life I abhor waking up early there is just something about Disney that motivates me to roll out of bed at 7am.

Breakfast will be in room or down at the food court, most likely something quick and easy and then it is off to Epcot!

First ride will of course be Soarin then over to Test Track. We will either grab fastpasses or hop in line it all depends on the wait. Mom has said that she is actually going to go on this ride this year so that should be amusing. I told her that it is nothing to get nervous about. It is just like driving down the highway in a convertible. If we end up going the fast pass route then off to the Character Spot to get some pictures taken. Got to fill up that photopass card!

We'll do random attractions around Future World, really the only two that are musts are Soarin and Test Track. Most of our time will probably be spent taking pictures of all the beautiful flowers. :rotfl:

For lunch we have an early ADR at Le Cellier, it is up in the air as to whether we will actually go to this ADR though. We might skip it in favour of saving some money. If we skip Le Cellier then we will start our tour of World Showcase in Mexico and instead of having a proper lunch we will probably graze our way through the countries.

However if we do eat at Le Cellier then we will tour Canada, England and France before meeting up with everybody at 3pm.

Our ultimate destination is France for 3pm for the Mammoth May Meet. According to Rosie there are about 50 Disers coming to this meet. It will probably be a madhouse! After the meet maybe we'll head over to the Boardwalk area and check that out as we have never been and it will be a nice break from the parks. We'll have to be back at Epoct for 7pm though for our ADR at Chefs de France. I am really looking forward to this ADR!

We may stick around for Illuminations, really depends on when we finish up with our dinner.

Other goals for our time in Epoct:

I want to actually get on Maelstorm in Norway this trip. We have been to WDW several times and I still have not been on this.

I would also like to see the Voices of Liberty, see the film in France and catch the Beatles act in England.

I also want to catch as many of the performances around the countries as possible so I will be paying close attention to our times guide.

We have another day later in the trip scheduled for Epcot so the things we don't accomplish this day I am sure we can get done on the next day.

The meet is going to be crazy! It should be pretty fun though.

Okay, I need to stick to the trip report boards only. I was just over on the resorts board and read two threads that really freaked me out!

The first one was about people being given your room key and entering while you are asleep/changing/ in the shower. :scared1: Good thing I always double lock the door when I am inside.

The second one was about snakes found in WDW hotel rooms.:scared1::scared::scared1::scared: That one really gave me the heeby geebies.

Perhaps I should go over to the snake thread and post about my rat encounter! :lmao:

:woohoo: Just talked to my boss who gave me a sneak peek at the summer schedule and I for sure have my requested days off! I wasn't really worried but you just never know!

I also talked to him about all the issues we have been having with the operators get shortchanged on their paycheques/others getting paid for our hours. Turns out he knew nothing about it! It has been going on for months and I have just been reporting it directly to out payroll clerk when it happens assuming that my boss would find out as well. Well my e-mail to him was the first he had heard of it! I'm glad I e-mailed him as he says he is definitely going to do something about it.

Sounds like you have a case of pre-trip jitters. :rotfl:

I am all about double locking! And the snake AACCKK:scared1:

 Not really, stuff like that just freaks me out. I am not good with snakes and I am super paranoid about safety. I asked a question on the cruise boards about whether the private verandahs have lights so that I could read out there late at night as I would not feel comfortable out on a public deck alone late into the night/early morning. I laughed at the response I got, quite a few people were very defensive and acted like I was ridiculous for thinking of my safety and telling me how silly it was and that I should totally feel comfortable doing that. I guess in my line of work I have learned that it is better to be safe than sorry. :confused3

Yep, I am all about the double locking of the doors. I even keep the house locked all the time when I am at home, even during the daytime. Even back in my first year at school my dorm room door was locked 24/7. It amazes me how many people leave their rooms/houses unlocked and then act surprised when they get robbed.

Lookie what I got in the mail today!

I like the luggage tags but I think we are just going to keep using our Year of a Million Dreams tags, they were so pretty! I also like that the documents came in a booklet form. The last time we were on a package (2007) all the vouchers were loose pieces of paper, made it more difficult to keep track of.

Now we are only waiting on our cruise documents to arrive. I am a bit paranoid about those arriving on time as they will include the luggage tags we need for when we board the ship. I guess I am just paranoid about them since we are spending a week at Disney beforehand and the docs get shipped to our TA before they get shipped to us. I'm sure it will work out though. If for some reason it doesn't get here on time I am sure we can go to the cruise desk at one of the resorts and figure something out. :thumbsup2

Oh and about the cruise docs, the TA got them on Monday when we were about 20 days out!

I love how the documents are in a booklet now, so much more convenient!!

Yep! :thumbsup2

Oh and about the cruise docs, the TA got them on Monday when we were about 20 days out!

Good to know, hopefully the TA will mail them to us ASAP once she receives them. I guess it is one of the disadvantages of allowing a TA to have control of our ressie. Just couldn't resist the $200 of onboard credit though.

Hi Lessa!

Many apologies - have been lurking and keeping up with your PTR, but just haven't been posting - why I don't know, my brain not workee!

 I just posted the rat story on the snake thread.

Aaarrrgghh!!! Was that the snake nest in the Contemporary room story? I was freaking out before we went on holiday after reading that!:scared:

Your plans look good so far, can't wait to hear about the rest!

Di x

Geez man, so I go looking for the snake story and I end up with bedbug threads. And like a car wreck on the highway, I can't look away and end up reading the whole freaking thing. SIGH.

Even so, it's still not as freaky as your rat story. :scared1:
