All Aboard Presidents Week Mexican Riviera February 19, 2012 Wonder

There are some advantages to getting on the ship early. If you are looking to change your dining time, you should be one of the first in line to do so. Also, if you want tickets to the Disney and Friends Tea or other events, you should pick those up before eating lunch as they are often out of tickets by 2 pm.

More than anything else, the earlier you get on the ship, the earlier your vacation begins. :beach:

Make sure you kids wear swimsuits under their clothes so they can start swimming before the masses get their luggage.

For those of you flying back home on Sunday, did you book a shuttle to take you back to LAX? I've got shuttles booked from LAX to Disneyland and Disneyland to the pier but not from the pier back to LAX.

I'm wondering if I need to book something or if there is transportation readily available the day of.

I did book a shuttle from the terminal to LAX, yes. We're using Prime Time. I think it would be best to have something booked. We have a fairly early flight and can't risk missing it.

We are leaving Sunday and have a shuttle booked from the port to LAX. We didn't go through Disney though because we are trying to get to the airport early and didn't want to have to wait for our luggage and stuff. I'm not sure what company we went through but I think it was $65, I'd have to ask my DH about that to be sure!

Can't wait!! Only 7 more days for us!!!

I literally just laughed out loud when I read this, as our 9 year old boy is EXACTLY like yours. Ours likes to read me science and nature facts in his books: an example from the other day, "Daddy, did you know that a termite hill can grow up to 32 feet in height?" In fact, the last time we talked to him about kids club on the cruise, he said he'd bring a book to read there.

And the sports thing too- we have him playing to get exercise, but he has no interest. He feels perfectly fine while playing on his Nintendo DS, but he amazingly gets a headache when it's time for us to play catch in the backyard for 5 minutes.

So if we can get our boys to at least meet, that would be great!

My DS is in the same as well. He spends most of his time playing with his circuit board and inventing stuff. I didn't know if he would like the lab on our last cruise but they seemed to have activities he enjoyed (exploding volcano, making slime, creating structures out of marshmallows, solving mysteries). I'm hoping they still have a variety of activities like that with the new hours for the lab.

We are doing the swim with the dolphins but are doing it PV because the ratio of dolphin to people was smaller so we thought we would get more time with the dolphins and it provides lunch which we heard was good and we thought the bus ride would allow us to see some more of PV.

I would suggest booking something in advance. The shuttles will fill first with people who have reservations. The shuttle stops are right outside the terminal, and porters are available as soon as you pick up your luggage to take it out to the stop. Both Primetime and Supershuttle offer shared vans, with a cost of about $16 per person one way to LAX. A1 is another service I have used when I don't want to share a van. We use them to get from the airport to our motel, because I don't want to wait for a bunch of people and make a bunch of stops on the way. Last time it was $65 for 3 of us one way from LAX to our motel in San Pedro, and it was nice to know they would be waiting near the airport for us and just us, and took us directly to the motel with no stops. Their toll free number is (888) 593-1333.

Really bummed. Looks like I will cancel my private excursion in Puerto Vallarta. In light of the new travel warning I don't think I want to take my family an hour north of the city into the jungles and woods of Mexico. I really hoped to have found something similar in Cabo but nothing really compares.

I might do the San Jose tour. Did any previous MR's experience this excursion? I figured I'd trade some nature for some history/culture.

Sorry that your private excursion has to be cancelled.

We didn't do the San Jose tour but did the Tequila and Historical Towns excursion. It was okay but a lot of driving and kind of hokey. I wouldn't recommend it.

Hmmm, just checked the 10 day forcast on weather.com and it looks like we'll be sailing into some stormy weather on the first couple of days.

I have been checking the port weather but have not checked the ocean weather. Wasn't aware that weather.com offered an open sea forecast. Good to know and will have to check.

By the way I decided to keep the private tour in PV. The tour guide emailed me and assured me that regular violence is at least an 8 hours drive away and that he has been birding the area with his family for 14 years. I have to trust that he knows better.

One week from tomorrow! It is 19 degrees here and we've had about 6 inches of snow today. I've been working on packing all day, since we fly out Wednesday. I had to dig bins out of the basement to find warm weather clothes!

Hope it's not too bad. Don't want to be sea sick the first few days.

Finally finished all the FE gifts and had enough to make some for the late arrivals!!! Can't wait to pass them out!:dance3:

My hubby's clients are used to being able to access him 24/7. Do the cell phone and internet always work? Is there a plan we should buy? What is the best way to go about this.

Thanks!

Good to know about arrival time. Ours is also at 1230. I was thinking of taking my time at DTD in the morning and avoid the morning rush. DW wants us there at 10 so we can hopefully be on the ship nice and early.

Getting to the port from DL is the only unplanned part of my trip. My hotel tells me not to worry because they will arrange transportation for me that morning at a good price but I am not comfortable with trusting this offer.

HI
I just booked a private shuttle thru Rapid Shuttle for $68 from DLH to the port..they were the cheapest I could find.

Wow thanks for the update but I missed the info by one day. I just finished booking with Luxury travel. All the other quotes were for $120 so I thought that $85 was a good price. See you on the ship.

Looks like the storm either dissipated or pushed forward. The people that are cruising this week are getting some rain but, keep your fingers crossed, it looks like we'll have sunshine. :sunny:
