I'm going 2 WDW in August and i am thinking of going on Alien Encounter but i want to kno opinions on how scary it is and if its a good ride and if its somthing that some1 who gets scared easily should go on it

I wasn't too sure about Alien Encounters but once I went in and made it through, I knew I wanted to do it again. It's really not a ride. You go into a "theater" and they "clamp" you in your seats (you're not going anywhere). It will go completely dark at a certain point and the "alien" will be running loose and breathing down your neck. The first time is excruciating but if you can make it through the first time, do it again and enjoy it because you'll know what's coming. It's great! Do it at least once!

I don't know if you have any kids, but I suppose it could be pretty scary for them. Heck, my wife was freaked out by it the first time, although in a good screamy movie-type way. It's not actually a ride at all; just a round theater they strap you into that shakes and what not and uses other 'real world' physical effects (not wanting to give it all away) to give you a scare while other action is going on in a darkened room. I guess it would probably be fairly scary if you're the type of person who did NOT like watching the Alien movies. I thought it was good the first time, but after that you knew what was coming when and it just doesn't have the replay value of other rides.

Yes, it is very scary if you are not used to this kind of thing. If you go on, be prepared for absolute darkness. Also, they use the "4-D" effects, such as spraying water and tapping you on the shoulder, etc. The restraints are very tight; you can barely move. You will have a hard time holding the hand of your companion if you or they are scared. We took our nine year old sons on this ride at the beginning of a trip and almost ruined the whole trip for one of them. He is usually a brave kid - likes roller coasters, etc. - but he screamed the whole time at this attraction and then was scared to go on Haunted Mansion, ToT, etc.
Be prepared!
Have a good time on your trip!

I love this attraction, but if I was a kid I would be terrified. It was pretty darn scary for me in my twenties. I suppose if you warn them that there's going to be things that 'touch' them, it may be better. I went in not knowing what it was all about. From what I remember, it's pretty loud too.

are your arms and legs straped down or just your body? I hate it when I can't move my arms.

These are my recollections:
Your legs are not strapped down, but the seats are a little narrow, as I recall. There is a "harness" to come down over your shoulders, like in a roller coaster, and it is so bulky that it is difficult to move your arms. If you need to comfort a scared child, you will not be able to turn towards him, or do much except hold his hand. You can move your head pretty well, I think. My opinions of this attraction are a little skewed, so I may be adding a negative "flavor" to my memories.

I didn't think it was very scary at all, but I had a good idea what was going to happen going in. I laughed my way through it. I hate scary movies, they give me nightmares, but AE didn't scare me. Took my kids, 9 and 7, and they were fine too.
