Wouldnt believe it but for once totally organised the night before, cases packed and locked. Decided not to get help to get David up in the morning and do it ourselves. Up at 5.45 and ready, and I mean ready, shockaroonie for 8 including getting David all up and organised.
Flight was 12.45 and we didnt need to check in until 11.15 but our flight started off in Manchester and we were worried about the seating especially concerning David. Were at the airport for 8.30 checked in at Premier no queue there . good news we got rows 1 and 2 but doom and gloom flight delayed until 16.15. Tried not to panic as David can only sit so long in his chair and we were pushing it in the first place with our times. Decided there is nothing you can do so went for breakfast and then on to the international departure lounge and waited and waited until 17.00 when they announced the flight had arrived. Boarded with no hassles and sat for another 1 because the ground staff had jammed a crate somewhere in or around the plane. Flight otherwise was fine. Nice comfy seats and the crew were helpful. Landed around 11 America time and by this point the tiredness was starting to click in. They have changed the procedure on landing and they no longer allow the wheelchair up to the aircraft door so we had to put David into an airport wheelchair which was a bit concerning as he cant sit up without his special back that and the fact they transferred him into his own chair at the immigration queue he felt was embarrassing. He wasnt the only one, which was slightly better. Apparently all the wheelchairs have got to pass security now. I found security even tighter than last year.
Ian from Discount mobility was waiting for us, now that is service for you with our special adapted vehicle and the boys went away in that and I went with my Dad to Alamo to get his. (We decided to get the two cars because of the luggage and our up and coming trip to Vero)
Headed down to Saratoga Springs and checked in. Room had a view of DTD and was really nice. Another 2 hours to get David into bed and then we flaked it.
Day 1 thankfully over
