im thinking of buying a stack cause I love them. I wanted to know a few things. I know they are not real silver or gold. They are stainless steel (silver ones) and i'm not sure of the gold ones. So my questions, do they change or turn colors? How about the charms themselves? Do you add charms to them? I bought a faux one at Macy's in November and I can add charms to that one. But do they even make charms only for them? I have the old school charm bracelet with lots of sterling silver charms and they stopped making them or just stopped selling them in the parks. You can find some on eBay every now and then.

I'm collecting the silver ones & love them (not sure about the gold- sorry!). So far I've got he Give Kids the World ice cream cone & the MK bracelet. Looking at probably Rapunzel for a Christmas gift from the DH when we come down in a few weeks.

I didn't like the fact that you can't add to them but in the end I think I like it better. Had a great convo with an AK CM on June comparing them too & that was fun. Did I mention they're a lot cheaper than a Pandora? :earsgirl:

Honestly, I never wear mine. I thought they were the coolest ever for a few weeks, but the clanking together drove me nuts. I prefer pandora.

I have some in silver and some in gold and notice tarnishing on both (I wear mine regularly). I have most a year and was a bit surprised they are showing wear on the band portions but I still love wearing them and have gotten many compliments. I am looking forward to getting some of the Star Wars ones when in the parks next week. I have a Pandora bracelet also and enjoy it on one arm and my Alex and Ani on the other. :)

I love mine and can't wait to add the Disney ones to my collection! However the colors do turn or age as they say. I made the mistake of wearing mine in DC last summer, sweating and sunblock pretty much ruined two of mine.

The bracelets can tarnish and Alex and Ani sites or Disney will replace them. At the Alex and Ani store in Winter Park, the employee said to polish the bracelets with a polishing cloth... their polishing cloth was either $6 or $8.

I had a silver Lion King one and it tarnished pretty quickly. I mainly wore mine to the parks, which is where sweating, rain, washing hands, etc. all happen pretty frequently so it led to the tarnish and now I don't wear it at all. :/

I routinely clean mine - the gold ones, I don't really mind the patina on them after I've worn them a while. I actually like how it adds another level of color to a whole stack.

But when I clean mine, it's either with a polishing cloth OR I'll use the same cleaning solution and soft brush I use for my precious metals (ie. platinum). It's kind of a mindless thing for me to do while I'm watching TV or something.

I would definitely avoid wearing them on days where you might be wearing a skin substance (sunscreen, bug spray) and definitely don't wear them in the pool or anything like that.

I have a silver MK one and I'm getting "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" silver (blue charm) for Christmas :woohoo:. I love mine and my DD has a gold Rapunzel. I just clean with a soft silver cloth once in a while. I am going to start to get one on each yearly trip:-)

So you all love them and just take extra care of them. Awesome.

I'm not a huge fan of the Pandora style charm bracelet. I'm more old school charm bracelet kinda girl. I do love the dangle and the noise.

Thanks for the tips.

I've been admiring them since last year.

How do I like mine? In the drawer...

My cousins got them as a status symbol, which turned me off of the bracelets immediately. A student gave me one (very sweet of him!) and so I wore it so he could see I liked it. It is an incredibly awkward design, the charm gets in the way of everything, and the metal is cheap. They claim to use 'recycled' metal, so there's no guarantee what exactly is in the jewelry, IMO. I see they sell more expensive metals now - the metal on my bracelet gave me a rash, which means it's full of nickel.

I mainly wear Pandora but started collecting a few Alex and Ani so I could have something in a gold-tone look. I haven't worn them in over a year now - probably the last time was when I was at the parks last year (I've actually gotten rid of all my non-Disney ones). For some reason the gold-tone ones have a really odd smell on me. Maybe I have some weird body chemistry :confused3.

I'm hoping they bring back the sterling silver dangle charms. I miss them so. I wanted to start another bracelet

I am not a bracelet wearer usually, but love these.
I bought some just to wear to Disney parks and cruising.
I have the silver.
Disneyland, Disneyland 60th Disney World, Mickey head, DVC and DCL
I will be wearing both DL, Mickey and DVC all next week on our DL vacation.

My question for those that wear them to Disney World. How do they work with a Magic Band? I wear a watch, so they have to go with one or the other, or would the MB work with the watch?

Is the cloth just a regular jewelry cloth? I have the same exact bracelet you do, and after buying it at the end of October, the bottom portion of the charm is tarnishing already. I was a little shocked. Wondering if that would help.

You're fine with the MB and watch on one wrist. Your Alex and Ani bracelets will be better highlighted without a watch or MB next to them.

I have a silver cleaning soft cloth (from Wal Mart; I use it on my Citrus Silver jewelry) and I've had no issues. I hope you are able to get something for your bracelet because they really are adorable. I've had mine for 1.5 years with no problems. Good luck!

I have one that is a true Alex and Ani - MK castle one. The others I have are knock off brands with charms the kids have picked - soccer, basketball, etc. I love them all. I prefer the silver and haven't noticed any tarnishing yet but after reading this will pick up a jewelry cloth to wipe them off.
Can't wait to get another from Disney - it was on my Christmas list so here's hoping. :)

I have the antique (non-shiny) finished silver ones and I love them. I have 3 from Disney, Cinderella, the castle, and Minnie, and wear them alone or together. Personally I like them because they aren't heavy or bulky, especially alone. They're also made in the USA and less expensive than Pandora.

Great....sounds like my arms will be loaded.....going in Jan. so most likely wearing coat or sweatshirt too
