Alec Baldwin shows a disgusting level of liberal condescension

36% of the population who still approve of Bush. I don't think LuvDuke was calling you one of the 36%, but was "introducing" you to one of them.

(This is my interpretation. LuvDuke, please correct me if I misunderstood you. :teeth: )

AG, you are 100% correct. IMO, the "36%" who still support Bush consist of:

1) the delusional

2) the ill-informed

3) the uber-rich who can't believe their tax cut bonanza and aren't going to bite the hand that feeds them

4) the "woman, shut up and sit down, I'm controlling your ovaries now" crowd

5) the ones who know better, but just can't let go of the Bush image

The Bush water carriers prove that opinion right every single day.

Don't believe it: monitor some of the exchanges here and pidgeonhole your favorite Bushie.

well if that isnt a personal attack....

I don't get it....Alec Baldwin clearly said what he said. Insulting people who think he's a moron isn't going to change that. So what if the guy (I don't even watch that show, so I don't know who he is) was a former construction worker? Why would Alec think that was some sort of insult? Because he's an snob, that's why. I can watch CNN and listen to NPR and Alec still said it and he's still an idiot for saying it.

This list is kind of narrow but I admit that I'm having a great time assigning these categories to the DIS Righties that still support Bush.

Oh please, the amount of condesension the Republicans in power have shown the working man is beyond anything Alec Baldwin could do or say. They've made it advantageous for companies to send their jobs overseas, failed to enforce mine safety regulations, allowed illegals to come in and take thousands of construction jobs and not enforced any employer limitations on hiring these illegals. They've made a mockery of labor laws and put in place federal judges that will rob people of their pensions. And Sean Hannity supports the politicians that are robbing working men and women of their way of life and middle class status. Who cares about some actor in the face of what our politicians are doing to us?

As far as I can tell, Baldwin and Hannity are just two sides of the same cheap coin--loudmouths who have titanic egos and prefer theatrics to reason.

:confused3

Why anyone would give Hannity any more credit than Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin or any other celebrity mentioned in this thread is beyond me. Is it because the other celebrities mentioned in this thread make their living in front of a camera while Hannity makes his behind a microphone? I mean seriously, what's the difference? If you think one is anymore educated than the other on any political issue, you'd be saddly mistaken. Just because it's Hannity's job to spout off about politics all the time, that doesn't make him any more knowledgeble or insightful than anyone else on this PLANET who has a political opinion. It makes me laugh to see people putting celebrities down for their political opinions on this thread, yet fawn over Hannity for doing the same exact thing! :lmao: What's the difference? :clown:

Why do Republicans or conservatives think liberals or Democrats rely on celebrities for anything other than a night out at the movies or a little bit of dancing or listening music? Good grief. Everybody has opinions. I listen to opinions I feel like listening to (and they ain't Hannity's or O'Reily's, that's for sure), whether they be my neigbor's, my boss or someone's I read on the Net or in a paper. Who cares? They are opinions.

Hannity is a loud mouth, ******* of a blow hard, whose opinion is about as worthless as any other person's, except to the station owners that pay him to give his on his show. :confused3 Yes folks, show. Hannity has a show. He is a show. He's a talk show host. He's a celebrity.

LuvDuke, I normally find your posts to be dead on target, but I think this is a rare misfire for you.

IMHO, the largest sub-category of the 36% are the religious fanatics who refuse to acknowledge that the Constitution overrides the bible every single time when it comes to the law of the land. President Bush has demonstrated through his actions that even though he's sworn to uphold it on two separate occasions, the Constitution is at best an annoyance to be disregarded when it's inconvenient.

It's this personal tendency of his that inspires rabid devotion among people who feel the same way as the President, and IMHO make up the lion's share of the President's ever-dwindling support these days.

I think Sean Hannity is great! I've been to his Freedom Concert's before too - they are a blast! I think last year he helped raise over 2 million dollars for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund - Honoring the Sons and Daughters of America's Heros. :thumbsup2

It doesn't take being a liberal or a conservative to be a pompous idiot.

And there is plenty of pomp on both sides of the Hollywood aisle.

Bottom line: this thread is about 2 egotistical gas bags throwing bricks at each other.

Exactly, but there are also a lot of celebrities that do a lot of good and charitable things, a lot of times quietly and without any publicity, and to be fair, also on both political sides. Hollywood has it's share of bozos, as does talk radio.

Some may call it rude. Bush calls it his base. :lmao:

Speaking of Alec Baldwin, this little gem, courtesy of Ann Coulter, had me howling with laughter!

From the New York Daily News:

Will Hollywood Democrat Alec Baldwin ever crossbreed with right-wing provocateur Ann Coulter?

It can't be ruled out - but judging by their reactions to the possibility, it would sure be an angry coupling.

"Would you rather sleep with Ann Coulter or Dianne Feinstein?" Elle magazine asks the actor in a raunchy interview.

"I gotta go with Feinstein," Kim Basinger's ex answers. "With Coulter, we'd have sex and I'd have to jump out the window. I wouldn't even get dressed."

Yesterday, Coulter told Lowdown: "That's the only reason I can think of for wanting to have sex with Alec Baldwin."

:rotfl2:

Perhaps they doth protest too much?

Anyway, I think Hannity has taken a page from the Cynthia McKinney handbook. He's getting way too full of himself. I couldn't stand him before but he's going beyond the pale. Today he actually felt what he was doing was successfully debating some professor when all he was doing was ranting. A while back it seemed to me he would patiently bide his time and trap the person into a losing argument. I didn't like that but you could see where the person had tripped themselves up. The last couple of times I've listened he seems to start with bashing the person over the head with an argument they have yet to screw up and make.

Why do people want to listen to this? There are more rationale conservative commentators out there.

There certainly are more rational conservative commentators than Hannity--I think Tony Snow is a good guy even when I disagree with him. On the other hand, I think Michael Moore is kind of a jerk even when I agree with him. The capacity for being a jerk knows no political boundaries, lol.
