We typically stay at the Swan and we hire a driver through them. They include a stop at the grocery store in their fare. We typically stop at Walmart and buy some breakfast foods, snacks, wine and sometimes a couple of TShirts.

It's one of those things - it's a want, not a need. So I'm not sure I would rent a vehicle for it. LOL. Do you know how close Walmart is? Or a Grocery Store with Liquor? I wondered the last time we were there.
I've thought about buying water as well, but I think I'd rather have cold counter service ice water than really warm bottled water. And we are on the DxDDP - so I'm thinking I don't want to buy any extra food!
I've seen bottles of wine and six packs of beer for sale at the little grocery store at Boardwalk. And they also had the same at the Hess station across the street from Boardwalk. I've heard they have changed their name from Hess to something else. There are 2 Walmarts and a Publix which are all close to WDW. You could even get an Uber if you wanted to. It will cost you less than a cab. DH took a cab from the Swan to Walmart before and it was in the neighborhood of $12-15. I'm not sure how much uber is but I always hear that it's cheaper.
ETA as far as I know all the resorts have mini fridges so no reason to drink your water warm
Duty free prices will be cheaper than what you pay at your local liquor store in Canada. Depending on how fussy you are about your wine, you can get a bottle at any of the resort stores, but will pay a premium for it. If you weren't going to buy enough groceries to make the cab fare worthwhile, I'd just get your booze at the duty free.
You won't be able to bring Bailey's on board to consume under the new rules. Only wine or beer. We never bother. It's a little more expensive buying by the glass on board but not by much and we prefer to sit in a lounge and have a glass which you can't if you have your own anyway. Personally, unless there's something in particular (again, wine or beer) that you like that they don't carry, I find it more of a hassle and not that much less expensive. Plus it gives me a perfect reason to try something different every single time I order a drink.
EDIT: Sorry - I was just on the DCL forum and was thinking about the cruise instead of WDW. We still don't bother. It's just easier to pick something up from the stores on property and is still less expensive than what we'd pay at home though less than at duty-free (and I still get a chance to try something different every time and/or go to one of the lounges). I also find that duty-free is relatively limited in selection, although they would likely have Bailey's.
I would say that if you're going for the hard stuff (like Baileys) get it from the duty free. Otherwise if you can figure out a way to get to a store - go for it.
If you're ordering groceries, or want to pick up a few things, take an Uber to Walmart, there's one super close, pick up everything you need (you can get wine for under $10 that's actually good, those little single portion of frozen margaritas are $1) or to a walgreens, where agian, alcohol is SUPER cheap!
-Otherwise, the closest would be to bus to the boardwalk and then walk over to the gas station, prices are a teensy bit higher, but cheaper than you'll find in a resort.
-Alcohol at resort gift shops is usually on par with what we'd pay in Canada, so I never realized how jacked up the price was until i moved to the US!
