Alaskan Adventures on the Wonder! June 3,2013-FE info post #61!

We are flying Frontier into LAX for the repo cruise then flying home from Seattle after the Alaskan cruise on Frontier. We will save a lot of money. I think the RT fare was $340.We live in Virginia and will have to change in Denver going. Can't remember where we change going back home.

Hi everyone!

I just got off the Fantasy on Saturday and had a great time in the sunny Caribbean! You know how us disboard members are...half the fun is the anticipation and planning of our next adventure!

I booked this cruise the first day I was able and am so excited to be headed to Canada and Alaska in 2013!!! It's just me and my ds (11) sailing.

We had a friendly group of folks participate in the dismeet for this past cruise that made it fun seeing people you "know" around the ship. One way we got acquainted was through a private Facebook group. FB profiles still remain private unless you "friend" someone. It was a great way to share the excitement with others that could relate and plan group activities, as well as share pics and experiences from the cruise now that we're back. I will be happy to set one up if there's interest! :)

Hello all. We just booked this cruise last week while on the Magic. Looking forward to getting FE's together...

Anyone flying into Seattle?

Nay, for the first time we won't have to fly at all - just a 5 hour drive from home! :goodvibes We'll come up that Saturday and hang out then go home Monday after we disembark.

I rarely post on these boards but have finally taken the plunge (so to speak) and booked. This will be my first ever cruise and am already counting down the days!

I'm glad you will be joining us! This will be our third cruise, all on Disney, but our first on a "classic" ship. I can't wait! I have started a facebook group if you are interested. It's a bit slow this far out, but if it's anything like my last cruise group, it will get hopping the closer we get. :)

Hello! Just checking in since I haven't in a while.

We are still booked on this cruise...although it is very likely we will end up canceling it. I love the idea of taking the mouse to Alaska!!! However it looks like my daughter's annual church camp will be an conflict Also I think the cost very well be prohibitive due to the cruise plus air plus hotels plus excursions. It is a steep vacation!

We are hanging on to the ressie for now though. It is a dreamy sounding vacation!

We are planning to fly to Seattle...so some touring and either rent a car or take a train to Vancouver. Anyone know much about how one-way car rental might work between countries?

My family (myself, dd age 10 at the time of the cruise, and dh) will be joining ya'll on this cruise. We were suppose to go on the Alaskan cruise two years ago and weren't able to due to my heath problems. We were booked on the Med Cruise in 2013 but when this opened up we couldn't resist so we switched cruises. We are so excited. We will be flying into Seattle on May 31and then be taking the train to Vancouver. After the cruise we will be flying to Hawaii for a week. We can hardly wait!

Wow! Alaska followed by Hawaii? Can you say DREAM vacation?! Best of both worlds!!!!! My family is giving me a hard time about sailing to some where cold. I wish we could afford your solution too for my surf , sand & sunshine loving family! Good for you! That sounds amazing.

Just got off Fantasy today and booked this while on board. I am not sure if we will be on it... Kind of waiting to see what 2014 itinerary looks like, but thought might as well go ahead and book it. Kind of concerned about the rooms we got though...

We just booked our 2nd trip on the Wonder and this time to Alaska! Our first was the Mexican Riviera in Oct 2011. This is the first time posting to the boards. A friend of ours told us to find our cruise because it makes it so much better to make friends aboard! We are excited to go.

We (me, my wife, and 2 kids (7 year old boy, 4 year old girl))are from So Cal and will be driving to Vancouver. Any one else planning on a large trek like that?

I agree about the sunsets and sunrises. A veranda was a must for our booking for Alaska. we don't want to miss any of the sights!

Welcome to the disboards and the cruise meet thread! It is more fun to "meet" some people before boarding. :) All of the planning talk also adds to the excitement of the cruise adventure! I'm sure things will pick up on here and the Facebook page after the first of the year.

I wish we could drive, but we are coming from TX so are stuck with having to purchase expensive airline tickets. My dilemma will be whether to fly into Seattle or Vancouver!

We looked at both flying and driving, with 4 of us we could do the drive in 2 days for a few hundred less than if we flew. The decision for you to fly into Seattle or Vancouver could come down to the passports. If you don't already have them you could just get the passport cards that allow you to drive across the border. However, if you fly into Canada, you will need the full book passport. We only have the cards so if we did fly, it would have been into Seattle and its only about a 2 hour drive up to Vancouver.

Thanks for the info on the passports! I did not know we could get by with the card if driving across the border vs flying. I have a passport, but my son doesn't yet. I will keep that in mind if we fly into Seattle.

I really prefer to fly into Vancouver to keep it less complicated overall. It's going to come down to what's most cost effective in the end. Those Alaskan excursions aren't cheap, plus we are spending 3 days pre-cruise exploring Victoria, Whistler, and Vancouver.
