Alaskan Adventures on the Wonder! June 3,2013-FE info post #61!

We have canceled this sailing. Family crisis. Good luck and happy sailing.
Sorry to hear that, TexasGirl. I hope things get better for you in the future.
Just got off Fantasy today and booked this while on board. I am not sure if we will be on it... Kind of waiting to see what 2014 itinerary looks like, but thought might as well go ahead and book it. Kind of concerned about the rooms we got though...
We just booked our 2nd trip on the Wonder and this time to Alaska! Our first was the Mexican Riviera in Oct 2011. This is the first time posting to the boards. A friend of ours told us to find our cruise because it makes it so much better to make friends aboard! We are excited to go.

We (me, my wife, and 2 kids (7 year old boy, 4 year old girl))are from So Cal and will be driving to Vancouver. Any one else planning on a large trek like that?

WELCOME luvmy2kids and Tocwby! pixiedust: Glad you are joining us!

What kind of cabins did you get, luvmy2kids? We have cat 7 Secret Verandah booked, very excited since we have never had that category before.

Tocwby, where are you in So Cal? We live in Devore, outside of San Bernardino. We have talked about driving, but I think we will end up flying into Seattle, spending a day there before taking the train into Vancouver. We haven't made any plans for Vancouver yet...not sure if we will stay and visit there before or after the cruise yet. I have never been to Canada so I can't wait!

Hey everyone! We booked this cruise while on the Fantasy in June! I can't wait!

We will be, My Dad(Robert), my Mom(Sody), my brother (Robert - 21) and me (William - 19) This will be so much fun! This will be my brother and i's first time to Alaska and actually anywhere on the west coast north of San Fran. Should be exciting! pirate:

We are in a Cat 5 with a veranda. Its the same room type we had on our last cruise. I have not heard of a secret veranda, what is that? We are in Bakersfield. We have family in Seattle so it appears we will drive there and have them take us to the train station the morning of the cruise. Then we will stay the night in Vancouver after the cruise before heading back home.

I just wish I could request the same servers I had last year if they were still on the boat.

A secret verandah cabin is a cat 7 verandah that isn't fully enclosed like the other cat 7 Navigator's Verandahs are. :goodvibes It has a plexiglass wall and a slight enclosure towards the top on one side. I think there are only 6 of these cabins. It can be far less $$$ than the cat 5 that's on the other side of it. Like all other cat 7's, it only sleeps 3. So, my kids get the inside room across from us! My parents have the cat 5 on one side and my brother has the cat 7 on the other side. Anyway I was thrilled to grab one!

We are going to try to reshop this cruise onboard in early November but for now I am super psyched for our 7A! Hoping the extra enclosing bits help with cigarette smoke and cold wind... it is by far our most expensive cruise so I hope we don't get TOO spoiled! :lmao:

Just booked this cruise this morning and despite the killer cold I have, I'm super stoked! I'm a first year teacher, so I needed something to get me through this super tough year. It'll be me and my parents on our 4th cruise and 2nd DCL. It's been a long dream to see wild orcas in Alaska.

Hi everyone! We have also booked this cruise! It will be me, dh and ds (9). This will be the 3rd cruise for me and dh (first was honeymoon, 2nd was 10yr anniv this past October) and 2nd for ds. All Disney. We are so looking forward to this trip! Thanks for this outlet to share planning tips!

Welcome! pixiedust:

I think I will try to keep a running list in the first post of everyone. If you'd like to post your names and kids ages I can add that as well for those that didn't put it in their introductory post. As it gets closer we could get a kids Facebook or disboards group together. If you are interested in participating in the Fish Extenders, let me know. I can organize it- I've done it on many cruises before and have deck plans for the Wonder to make delivery easy. :)

Christine

Thanks Christine! My name is Carolyn. My husband is Travis and our 8yr old son is Ben. We would absolutely be interested in participating in a fish extender. We noticed a lot of them on our last Disney cruise an it sounds like fun. Keep me posted as we get closer to the date about the details! Once the holidays are over I will start getting excited and start the full throttle planning!

Has anyone booked airline tickets yet? I'm curious to hear how many are considering going through Seattle. So far, from Orlando, it's half the price to fly into Seattle than Vancouver

We are booked through Seattle. It was much cheaper, even with transport to Vancouver. We are looking at it as an extension of our vacation as well, having never been.

We are super excited because WE CAN DRIVE for once! No airline expense here, woohoo! :cool1: We've made the drive from PDX to Vancouver lots, so that is what we will do again.

We are very excited to join this cruise. We (myself, DW, & DS) just finished our first on the DREAM. We've now booked with my in-laws for their 43rd anniversary, my birthday, & my DS's. They don't know it yet, but it will be their first cruise, and they have always talked about taking an Alaskan cruise.

Welcome to the new folks--we're at less than 6 months now! Jordan'sMom, where are you staying in Seattle and how are you traveling up to Vancouver? I really want to take the train, so I'm thinking it'd be best to stay as close to the train station as possible.

We are in! This will be our fourth Disney cruise and we can't wait to see Alaska with the Mouse! We are a family of four which includes DH, DS age 14, DD age 12 and me. We have never done an FE, but might be interested in trying it out this time around.

So looking forward to this trip and having a few friends on board!

I think we will stay at the Grand Hyatt in Seattle. The train sounds wonderful, but I want to see either Victoria or Whistler from Seattle before heading to Vancouver. I'm still figuring out the logistics. Anyone been to either or both of these places and can make a recommendation on which to chose? I'm traveling with an almost 12 y/o ds at cruise time.

Please add us to the list. Three different couples. Michelle(DW)& Mark(DH), Catherine(DW)& Nick(DH), Lauryn(DW)& Dave(DH). We would like to participate in Fish Extenders also. Thanks Michelle

Welcome! I promise to update the post in the next week or so when I'm finally at my laptop again and not the mobile. I am definitely excited for the FE!!
