Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

Ok, I finally caught up.......I will now look into our options for air and hotel....thx to all for the excellent suggestions.........:surfweb:

At the risk of coming across like a complete nutcase:rotfl:, I switched hotel rooms again today! I have finally settle on L'Hermitage, and am very happy with my choice and refuse to even look at another hotel! We booked a 2 bedroom suite with the AAA rate. It is a little pricier than our Pan Pacific rate, but is still a great value. It has a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, fireplace, balcony, and a washer and dryer. The washer and dryer is what really sold me, since it will be nice to be able to wash everything before boarding the Wonder. The regular rooms also seemed very nice and very reasonably priced if anyone is still looking around at hotels. Definitely worth checking out!

Quick hello to all!

We're in for FE's as well (not sure if I replied I would already????)

Glad to see you all caught up, JoAnn. We're doing Cathay Pacific out of JFK to Vancouver. Good price for a direct flight. We're also doing Pan Pacific right now. May change that closer to the trip but at least we can rest our weary bones somewhere.

How's the engagement party plans going?

I have not decided yet but have it down to a couple....just cant remember what they are :lmao:...but that's okay because I do have them written down.

I am still grappling over the price of the flights...UGH! But hey once its paid for I have no doubt I will get over it. I am going to have to start soon making arrangements...it will be here before we know it.

Wonder if any other DIS members will be starting to join us in here? Up to about a month ago we were posting a lot...than we slowed down. Summer time guess we have been all busy....I know I have.

Have a great first day! Ours is next Tues.

Check out seeing Victoria. It really looks beautiful and with its Mediterranean climate, it might be the perfect ending (no ice!)

Looking forward to my 1st B2B cruise this October. Taking one of my twin son's for his 18th birthday and early senior graduation present.
We'll spend 3 days before the cruise at OKW. Only 42 days of waiting left.

Day 3 is tomorrow, I'm hoping to be able to book this weekend!!:dance3:

To those of you who are booking with DVC points, have you made a decision about trip insurance? We have never done trip insurance before, but think it might be a good idea this time around due to the number of points being used. If you are buying insurance, would you mind sharing the basic details? I feel very clueless about the whole insurance thing.:confused3

If anyone is looking for a hotel in Seattle, I found the Red Lion on 5th Avenue. It seems pretty decent, nothing fancy, but adequate for our 2 night stay there. I got a AAA rate of $199, which includes a hot buffet breakfast each morning for everyone in the room. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! DH and I are about to head out to the boat to enjoy the beautiful day we are having today! Next week is going to be a heavy duty work week for me with getting my classroom set up. School for us starts on September 7th, so DH and I are trying to make the most out of these final days of summer!

I always get trip insurance. This is however the first time I will be cruising on pts. I was given the wrong info on transfering my cruise/ressie into points and found out 2 days ago that I could not no longer do it because the points allocated(sp) for that cruise were all used up. :scared1: I was so pissed because I was told when banking my points in June that since i already had a ressie that I had till 75 days prior cruise to transfer from cash to pts...never cruising before I didnt know any better.

so DH and I figured we would use out pts through RCI or Intrawest for our hotels stays in Whistler and Vancouver and was again given the wrong info. So i went to a supervisor for help and because I was given so much wrong info she came back and told me that they were going to let me convert my pts for the cruise afterall even though they didn't have any left she made a call and they gave her the okay.

That was good because for that one cabin in cash it was $5300 bucks. Thats a lot of cash. The only bummer is that when i first called to transfer the points the pts value was like 70 less pts...owell ya snooze ya loose. But the good thing is that we can use our pts.

Also saw that plane fares were lower so will also book that soon:thumbsup2

Great news for you! I heard that they were being somewhat flexible if you had a good case, like yours. They just decided to stop the points for cruises until Sept 2011 without any notice. :headache: Even though it is not the best use of points, we try to use points to book at least one of us on points. We are doing this one both of us on points. It works for us.

I'm really glad that worked out for you. I was following the big thread about cruising on points and would have been really upset if that happened to us.

This is the largest amount of points we have ever used for one trip. 2 cabins for the 4 of us all on points, which is why I think insurance would be a good investment this time around. I really need to do my homework on that one.
