We are two Adults and two kids ages 13 and 6. Even though we love Disney we would not mind going on another cruise line if the service and rooms are comparable. For our party of 4 it appears Disney is around 7 k for a ocean view room. When I look at Princess it is also 7 k but smaller room. A lot of people say other lines are cheaper.. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks,

Are you comparing the same itinerary, same dates, same category of room?

Generally, other cruiselines than DCL will be less costly, but not always.

Looking for 7 night cruise. Only difference I see is other lines leave out of Seattle instead of Vancouver. Actually would love to go see Glacier bay, some of the other lines go there instead of Tracy Fjord. All other stops are the same except short stop in Canada. Looking for July 2016.

Alaska is expensive regardless. The only real way you can save it catching a sale. We have NCL Jewel booked for August 2016 under a KSF promotion they had briefly in February of this year. Okay the promotion has been ongoing but only briefly included the Alaska cruises (we also have Getaway booked for a couple of weeks at $2200 for four). 7 night RT from Seattle, almost the same itinerary as Wonder, for $3,800 for the four of us. Yes the ship isn't as nice the Wonder (we were on it in March and have a soft spot for that ship) but for 1/2 the price I think we will be fine. After all we are still going to Alaska. The difference will pay for the flights and a ship load of excursions.

Reality is we are in Toronto and as nice as it would be to stay in country and go our of Vancouver, we can get to Seattle for half the price (yes our airlines are that messed up).

There was recently a discussion about leaving from Seattle vs. Vancouver. From what I read it seems that leaving from Seattle is open water and rougher sailing the first night. Also yes, quick international stop due to U.S. law.

It does seem NCL Pearl is cheaper and goes to Glacier Bay. Anyone ever sailed with them?

We are cruising the last Alaskan itinerary, for scheduling reasons but it was significantly cheaper

For me..... glacier bay is important as I wanted to see glaciers (The Wonder excludes this stop). Holland and Princess offer a mid-cruise transfers on some cruises to Tracy Arm for those determined to see Sawyer. This side excursion meets up with the main ship in Juneau without retracing 50 miles of water and saves you beaucoup Juneau time for Juneau attractions.

There's savings on Alaska cruises in May (cooler) and September (wetter). But I like July Alaskan cruises for dryer weather, yep cost is higher this month too.

I hear several ships are unable to dock in Skagway today due to strong August winds.

Here's what I just priced out on NCL and DCL for Alaska.

DCL - 7 Day from Vancover in a 5A Balcony, 2 adults
May
- $5815
July - $7579

NCL Pearl - 7 Day from Seattle in a Mini-Suite (sq ft = DCL 5A), 2 adults
May
- $3804 also includes choice of Free Bev pkg(includes alcohol), Free WiFi, Free Gratituites or Free Adult dining (5nights) AND $150 discount for AARP members.
July - $4602 includes all of the above.

As much as I love DCL, I cannot justify the price difference for this cruise.
