When you sail up Tracy Arm, the glacier is all the way at the end (assuming you make it all the way in) on the right hand side. The cruise we took (not DCL) the ship turned around 2 or 3 times both directions, so you could see it from either side/end of the ship.
The ship also turned several times in a circle when we went to Dawe's Glacier in Endicot Arm when Tracy's Arm was impassible on our cruise. The best place to view it though was deck 10 so you could go from one side to the other IMO.
We had an amazing day at Tracy Arm on our August 2012 cruise. The captain was able to get us pretty close and slowly turned the ship back and forth several times giving everyone on all sides fabulous views of the glacier. We hung out on deck 10, port side most of the afternoon taking it all in. DD5 even took a nap in the lounge chair on deck since it was warm and sunny.
