Alaska Cruise - Port Upgrade Chances...?

For those of you who have sailed to Alaska...

Does anyone have a feel for what the chances are of port upgrades being available for cruises in the July timeframe?

We happened to score an incredible (5D to Concierege Cat V) upgrade on our last cruise - and that was during Spring Break, which made the upgrade even more surprising. I'm honestly just wondering if there's any chance of any upgrades at all for when we sail this summer...

(And if not, I'll still be sailing with Mickey, so I'll still be in heaven!)

Sadly, I think your chances of upgrading to Concierge are pretty much zero, since all the concierge level cabins have been sold out for the entire summer for months. I guess someone could cancel at the last minute, and you might get lucky. But any concierge cabins that are canceled right now are getting booked immediately.

Definitely not thinking Concierge for the exact reasons you stated. (Heck, the only reason we were able to go that far "up" last time was because they had a last minute cancellation.) But if I can upgrade to a verandah room from our current Oceanview room, I'll be thrilled...

On our Alaska cruise, it was more likely that insides were upgraded to oceanview than anything else. Verandah's booked up and were not readily available. Everyone wants a verandah for Alaska.

Our DCL Wonder cruise was sold out I was close to first into the DCL side and as concierge next to the supervisors desk there was a sign no upgrades at all. Veranda rooms are very very popular in Alaska many can see the benefits do they go fast and rarely gave upgrades bar early and very late season.

It will depend on your individual cruise but I know our June 8th Alaskan cruise is getting pretty full. Good Luck!

Resurrecting an old thread but if I am trying to purchase an upgrade at port on an Alaska sailing (I have the first PAT) what time should I actually arrive to begin the check in/customs process?

There was a sign on the guest services desk saying our May 22-29 2017 cruise was sold out....

I've been on 3 Alaska cruises with DCL in 2011, 2013 and 2016 (all in August) and each time there were no port upgrades available as soon as the terminal opened.

I don't know when you are sailing @dallastxcpa but we are sailing August 28th and there are currently two concierge suites (HA) available and they have been available for quite some time. So they might be available the day we sail (not that I'm going to check, probably still too rich for my blood lol).
