Alaska -- best port adventures for someone in a scooter?

My mom is 82 and uses a walker to get around. For the cruise, she'll be renting a motorized scooter.

Two years ago we did an activity that required her stepping up into a bus, which had big steps and was not easy. Luckily the driver was a retired nurse and he knew just how to help her get up.

In Juneau, we did the lumberjack show which was very close to the dock and accessible. I think we'll do that again this time, but I'd like to know of some other good options that don't involve longer distances or having to get into a bus.

My daughter is in wheelchair with no ability to stand or walk, so getting into buses does not work for us. In Skagway we took the White Pass & Yukon train excursion. The train has a lift and the scenery was breath taking. Well worth going on. In Juneau we did the Mt Robert tramway which takes you up the mountain, the cable car is very accessible. We were able to walk around, shop and get something to eat. We were able to see bald eagles and apparently there is a bear trail, but not wheelchair/scooter friendly. Again, the views were beautiful. In Ketchikan we did the lumbar jack show which was ok, but the town is fairly easy to get around. Have a wonderful trip!

I know some folks rented a car for the Juneau day when we were there last summer. They were able to extend their time at Mendenhall Glacier without messing around with bus schedules and I was a tad jealous. And I'll second the White Pass and Yukon train excursion. The train is very accesable and they can work with you on the short jaunt from the dock to the train station, I feel certain.
