ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

I have been enjoying the blogs and the pictures! The pictures look cold. I'm bringing jeans and lots of long sleeves. It should be warmer when we are there probably not much. But we sure don't want the ice to melt:rotfl2:

You probably bought your FE from a disser on Ebay, they aren't allowed to sell them on the Disboards:)

That's great PJ!!!!!:woohoo: Did you figure out your rental car for getting back to Seattle? I think that you can have breakfast at Beach Blanket that morning, that may save you a bit of time.

Thanks! We don't have our plane tix yet so are also contemplating flying into Seattle but out of Vancouver. Still weighing all options but know we need to decide soon. I keep seeing fare deals through May so hope they might release some for August soon as well.

Good to see more at the Pan.:thumbsup2

We were actually already there, just got a better price through Hotwire. ;)

Well hopefully you get it sorted, I know I would have much preferred flying in/out of Vancouver but from Louisville it was more than double.

Traveling is a lot of fun, but it sure is a lot of work getting to the fun part. My friends and I joke that we share an obssessive compulsive planning DISorder:rotfl::rotfl:

It's definitely more, but only flying out of Vancouver instead of into and out, was quite a bit less so we are weighing all options. The less hassle and more likelihood of getting home the day the cruise ends is a big plus for us!

The only thing I am hoping to do is to make my Palo reservation for brunch.

I read somewhere that they only do brunch on sea days. Is this true? Then at least I can plan.

Would they consider Tracy Arm a sea day?

Piieka, I confirmed this on the July 26th thread, their silver were booking last night.

PJ, saving yourself stress is worth quite a bit in my book

Happy Mother's Day
Have a WONDERful day!!

We were gonna fly into Portland but I didn't want to change from the amtrak train to the bus so that went out the door.

Then I suggested Seattle but my parents didn't want to go through SeaTac sooo...

We are probably going to fly direct from Hawaii to Vancouver but flights are limited so cost may dictate (which is why we won't be staying at the Pan (boo) but will think of all of you who are). On the other hand, I would rather stay at a Best Western or such and just get there, than not make it cuz of the flights. But it has been fun watching you all talk about it....may even temp my Mom and suggest it, tho she doesn't like booking online (she still doesn't own a cell phone!).

Thanks Paula for checking on the Palo. I don't want to miss anything (like Ranger nature talks) so am now thinking of doing Palo on the last sea day before we get into Vancouver. Decisions, Decisions....

HIMagicFan - if you still want to fly into Portland, there is a train-only Amtrak route that leaves PDX at 2:50pm Monday the 29th & arrives in Vancouver 10:50 pm.. $112 for 2 people in coach.

We have good friends in Portland so we're flying in early to spend time with them, then taking the train up Mon night - still not 100% sure where to stay. Have been looking at the following hotels...

Ramada Limited [Wyndham] - 435 Pender St W - $171.69 Hotels.com 4/22
(Free breakfast , wi-fi - 5-10 min cab ride)
HIE Vancouver 2889 E Hastings - $186.57 hotels.com as of 4/22
(free breakfast & wi-fi, free shuttle to cruise terminal 7a-10p)
Days Inn [Wyndham] - 2075 Kingsway - $132.98 hotels.com as of 4/22
(free breakfast, wi-fi - 10-15 min cab ride)

Although the Priceline deals you guys have mentioned are awfully tempting - wondering if I should just go for one of those.... ???

Tracey, it is Hotwire and there are quite a few on here that got that rate of about 135 a night, also quite a few on some other threads I have been reading. The 5/17 that Liz changed to were able to nab it for 124. It is also in US $, I don't know if the ones you were looking at were CAD or US so that is something to consider to. That is nice that you all are able to meet up with friends beforehand. Enjoy the train ride:)

I had been checking one way rentals from Canada Place (Alamo and National) to SEATAC for post cruise transportation and getting rental prices starting at $200 plus fees and up. However, I was checking without logging in as a frequent renter. When I did this, the rate dropped to $68 plus fees (so $100 total including booster seat) for a standard SUV or mini-van (needed for 5 people plus luggage). So, for any of you who may also be considering driving yourself as an option be sure to log in first!

I appreciate the input....we are only now starting to talk about all the "other" stuff....like air, hotel before and after...

PJ, that is a huge difference in pricing:cool1:

I love the way folks share on the Dis. It has helped me save quite a bit on several trips and gives me some great ideas. :goodvibes

So in other words you are getting down to the nitty gritty

I've really enjoyed reading the blogs and seeing the pictures from the 1st cruise. Our day to board will be here before we know it.:goodvibes

You are so right. I can't believe after reading the blogs (and I was checking them often for updates!) that their time has finished. I think I am going to go into withdrawals:rotfl2:

I haven't figured out how to do two quotes. But yes, the nitty gritty has started. I had packed and am now repacking cuz I did my FE gifts and am making sure I hit that 50lb mark!

So I could go tomorrow - or today!pirate:
