ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

Tuesday: We are getting to boat late 3:00. Its our only day in Vancouver.
Taking rental car to Grouse Mountain. Leaving at 8:45 to spend day there and leaving the at 2pm. The ride back is 35 minutes. Rental is returned to Port.

Tracy Arm: 6:30 Palo for Mom and Me.

Skagway: Book both trough Disney. 8:30 -11:45 Disney Liasville with Lunch. 1:45 -5:15pm Musher camp Dog sled. This is not snow, but pulled by wheel carts

Juneau: My mom and DS 10:00 -2:30 go with North Star Trek. Helicopter and Glacier Hike. ON glacier for 2 hours. Me an DD with take bus on our own to Glacier.Maybe 3-4 see town when they come back.

Ketchikan: 4- 6:30 All of us book on a float plane to Misty Fjods. With water landing and walking around.

Thoughts. Ideas. Love to hear.
Sounds like some great fun!!!!:cool1:

Skagway: Laughton Glacier Wilderness Hike and Rail Adventure (no kiddos for us this time)-booked thru Disney

Juneau: Dog Sledding on Glacier with Helicopter-booked thru Coastal Helicopters...bit concerned we aren't doing a whale tour here

Ketchikan-Not 100% on this one...splurging so much as it is on the other tours but have Bear Country and Wildlife Expedition for now (thru Disney)...bit of a compromise really as I would love to do the float plane over Misty Fjords instead. DH says we should just hang out here in town or something.

At Sea: Palo's Brunch 11:30

I need to research our Vancouver day a bit more. We get in crazy early like 7am, so we have most of Monday after finding the hotel and dropping off our luggage. Not sure about how we are getting to the hotel or the port. The Hilton is not super close like some of the other options to the port area. Taxi I guess to the port and maybe transfers from the airport to the hotel? Also and I know this sounds crazy but I want to figure out how to bring some wine on board for our room. So at some point I need to find a wine shop in Vancouver or bring it with me in those wine diaper bags? Got to plan ahead for the veranda!

Your plans sound great too!! I'll be doing wine & liquor shopping before we board also. Trying to decide if I am going to pack the rolling cooler or just carry it on. I don't plan on buying very many bottles, but I know the cooler could be used for any souveniers I get........

I am hoping that this works. This is a photo of the cups I made through Cafe Press.

Carol that turned out great!!!:goodvibes

I took Quick Shuttle from Vancouver to Seattle after the May 3rd Alaska Cruise. Left Vancouver at 9:15 a.m. and arrived at Sea-Tac for my flight at 2:10 p.m.

I was afraid to chance that with our 2pm flight, so we are spending the night in Seattle.
Can't believe we are getting closer to the cruise. My parents got their very first passports last week in the mail, so one more thing "to do" has been checked off the list!

Janet's arrived on the 24th!! So all the Quick Shuttle ressies are made:) It is so nice to get things checked off the list:thumbsup2

Hope you had a great time.

:banana::banana:We had a blast:banana::banana:

Finally booked our air fare today flying in and out of Seattle. I doubled checked the rental car I had reserved from Vancouver to SEATAC and realized it was quoted as returning to Vancouver, not one way so had to fix that. It is cheaper for us to rent two mid-sized cars one way than one large SUV or mini-van.

Anyway, at least that's one less thing to worry about!

Glad you got your flights out of the way PJ:cool1:

I still have our transportation questions open between the airport and hotel in Vancouver. And the online check in:sad2: (she actually asked me when was the latest we could complete that:scared1:)

So, if she doesn't do the check in items until the very end, do you think there will be problems with getting the time we want to arrive for check in or is that just a guideline?

My list of items isn't getting crossed off too quickly.:headache: ah well...keep thinking bears and whales and mickey, Oh My!:yay:

Piikea, you should have told her June 30th:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I don't think you will have a problem with the port time. I think it is really just for the Dream:)

My name is Marni and my family and I will be joining all of you on the Alaska cruise. I have been studying up on FE, etc. and we would be happy to be part of the FE exchange, too. This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise and our first on the Wonder. We went on the Mediterranean cruise last Sept on the Magic and now we are hooked. We are already booked on the Fantasy next April! I have been reading everyone's posts about Vancouver airfare and shuttles from Seattle to Vancouver. We are flying from Portland, Or to Vancouver and just bit the bullet. I look forward to getting to know everyone a little better over the next few weeks and to enjoying our wonderful cruise to Alaska with all of you.

Here's my info:
Marni - me
Bill - DH
Owen - DS (8)
Spencer - DD (1)

Welcome to the group.:)

Marni - welcome to the group!

We'll actually be in your neck of the woods for a few days - we're flying in early to visit with friends in Portland, then taking the Amtrak Cascades from PDX to Vancouver the night before we cruise. Looking forward to the train trip - just not thrilled that it doesn't arrive til 10:30 pm!

Have you booked your excursions yet?

Piikea, my friends on the July 26th cruise received their docs June 15th--so about 6 weeks out. I would have your checkin done in the next week or so if you would like it personalized with all your travel information. The booklets are a lot nicer than they used to be.

Tracey, that 10:30 pm arrival is the reason we didn't book the Cascades! I imagine it will be really nice and some great scenery:)

Thanks for the info. I was wondering when they would send them.:thumbsup2

Since I see some new members posting, thought I would send out my request again. If you are participating in the FE, please send me the hair color of the women/girls your cabin as I am making personalized gifts. TIA!

So far the only plans we have are:

Skagway. . .doing the Chilkoot tour with bus up, dog sled camp/ride, lunch and train down. I heard great things from people on the trip reviews so am trying it out.

I am still contemplating the Lumberjack show, nothing yet for Juneau. . .I have young kids so I am worried about the long day in Skagway and they still use car seats so I am somewhat limited by that, my husband has forbidden any floatplanes/helicopter tours. . .time is running out to make decisions. We may just end up winging it when we get to Juneau and Kethikan.

can't believe we are almost 2 months away. . .

If you go to my photobucket I have lots of pics and videos of the lumberjack show. Look on page two. http://s135.photobucket.com/albums/q140/tracyvansmith/Alaska 2009/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ24

Deb and her daughter Jen in my group are blond. I think Jeanette is a dirty blond, she is Deb's friend and I have not met her yet.

Has anyone tried to make a magnet out of our cruise moose logo? I want one. I have to figure out how to make those door magnets again.

The cruise is getting closer. YEAH!!!

Kim, I haven't done it yet but, I will be doing that probably the beginning of next month. What I do is simply print the imagine directly to some magnet paper. Or, when push comes to shove, I print the imagine on some nice photo paper and then put a couple of strips of magnet tape to the back.

Hope that helps.

I luv it when great minds think alike! I was almost gonna do one but changed my mind and am probably gonna try my hand at another one. Sorry but you guys are my guineas since this will be my first FE experience.

Ah! thanks! :thumbsup2
I don't know what I would do without your great advice! I didn't know they personalize stuff for our travel records! Oh my ~ will have to let my mom know so she (and I) can get on the ball!

At first we were gonna fly into Portland cuz M&D have never been but I didn't want to change to a bus in seattle. I did see the 10:30pm arrival (which they weren't keen on). But I missed the morning Cascades! I will have to check that darn website again (for my next Alaska Wonder - :rotfl:)

I always print my door signs on photo paper and just put some magnets on the back. When I make a bunch of them for longer cruises, I use a couple of those clear sheet protectors and cut the side off that has the holes. I put magnets on one side and just move the signs so a different one shows on the top. :goodvibes

My 1st experience with FE was with the 2008 EBPC--well over 100 staterooms......that was a work out. I am glad this one is manageable:)
