I was on Alaska Air's website and I put together a vacation package with the kids fly free deal and it didnt seem to work out that way... I didnt book it but when I put together the package, the cost was more than the same package on expedia by $200. I checked the hotel rates that both Expedia and Alaska were getting (same!). How is it that in putting together a Kids Fly Free Package (so basically $309 less ticket cost) that it is working out to be so much more? Everything else was the same. I called Alaska and they couldnt seem to figure it out...

Any one have some ideas as to why this would be?

Also when I try it with just the Air tickets, it still works out to be charging for 3 people...

Hmm that is strange indeed! I will have to look into it. I wonder if the kids park tickets are offsetting your cost? But I'm sure you know that is there...hmm Idk.

Just a thought but, maybe Alaska does not include the most favored times to fly. Right now there are some great deals if you are flying to S. California. It works out cheaper to book via Alaska for airfare and book hotels with the resort you would like to stay. Please remember that if you are going to Disneyland before April ( I do not remember the cut off date) you pay the same as a child for park tickets.

They are probably giving you a much higher price on the adult tickets than they would be.

Or the hotel is costing more than it would if you priced it out separately.

It's good that you're doing the research between packages; but it really behooves you to price it out completely separately as well.

Thanks for all your quick responses! I called Costco travel just to see if I could get a better deal, and not only do they use Alaska for the kids fly free (which they actually give you) but you get a character breakfast for everyone in your party, a pin and lanyard set, a $20 gift card, and a free meal at the PCH Grill or Goofy's kitchen.

For my dad, sister, and I to go, it would be $1812 for 4 days, 3 nights. Not bad! (Staying at Best Western Anaheim Inn)

My experience is you need to call alaska air to get it to work right, I have never found kids fly free works well on the web site. Did you enter the kff code?

Well, if you price all that out seperately without giving value to the lanyards, it is still probably close to $200 a night for the hotel. I would bet you could book all that seperate and pay for the meals you want and still come out ahead. Everytime I have done it, it ends up saving about $500-$600 by booking seperate.
