Alaska Air or Virgin America

The Virgin America is the new service from Seattle to LAX. I wonder where the other poster flew to? There is supposed to be great food. I can't wait to see!!

I still need to get airfare...I'm thinking Alaska this time just because I don't want to deal with LAX, I'd rather fly into SNA. The price, though, still has me a bit on the fence!

Thanks for the input, though. I'm trying to figure out if Virgin charges for the second bag? Their webpage isn't the best.

Alaska Airlines has flights for $81 each way from Seattle to either Los Angeles or Long Beach right now. The fare is good through June 25th. I wish we had plans to go during this time. That is a really good rate! :)

remember jet blue when looking to seattle to long beach

Wow! I always go to MasterPark.com and get a coupon for about $10 per day for valet parking at Seatac. I have friends with a favorite lot for about $5. per day. I would never pay $26!

Definitely, but you know about it. People thinking about driving up from Portland, where their long-term lot is $8 per day, would likely never imagine that it would be $26 at seatac, and they could be very surprised! I was surprised to find how relatively cheap it was at PDX when I went looking for the comparison.

FWIW, I have some coupons for masterpark right now (SW rapid rewards sent approximately 35 coupons to us, all good only for a year, each for 3 days' worth of parking) that are 12.95/day. So either those are baaaad coupons, or they are getting more expensive. :goodvibes

I used to spend the night at Super8 in seatac then use their week-long lot...they then created a special rate for that...and most recently I looked into it, there were all sorts of reports of break-ins and such. Darn. :upsidedow

The parking at the Seattle Airport lot does have a fairly decent weekly rate...I think it was $126 (not sure the exact amount, but it is in the $120s). For budget parking, try Shuttlepark2...they have a website. You can get their internet rate, which is usually about $8 a day. We've used them and they are quick to take you to the airport on their shuttle (a short 5-min or so drive) and quick to pick you up on your return too.

I fly Alaska Airlines twice a week to and from PDX and LAX. Alaska is working hard to keep it's Seattle passengers, hence the $81 airfares to SoCal, the double miles promotion, the upgraded first class offerings etc etc. Those of us in Portland get nothing :-(, but it's because VA or JetBlue haven't picked us up yet.

I do love Alaska's customer service, I have flown many different airlines and really am treated best on Alaska and I don't believe it's because I'm MVP Gold, even before making this status I still feel the customer service was important. I've not flown VA or JetBlue but of course will try them if they come to Portland.

Also, as many of you know - LAX is busy and the luggage can take a considerable amount of time to get to baggage claim, plus the parking at Seattle could be a deterant to flying in LAX and choosing SNA instead even at the higher cost.

That makes sense about the fare from Seattle being so low due to the new competition from Jet Blue and Virgin now. We always fly Alaska due to the great customer service and of course to add to my frequent flyer miles.:) We also always fly into LAX because they offer so many flights per day and we can schedule a real early flight down and a real late flight back and get maximum time at DLR. We aren't going again until Dec. but I sure wish I could take advantage of the $81 flights now. :)
