We're doing the one way rental to port thing for the first time. Staying in Cape Canaveral the night before. DH is going to drop us at the terminal, return the car then take the shuttle. I've heard nightmare stories about the shuttle to port so I wonder how Alamo's is? Also, how early are we allowed to drop off at the port?

The port opens about 10:30 (maybe a bit earlier, depending on whether the previous cruise is cleared early). I think the nightmare stories can move from company to company. It just depends on how many cars/people are using your particular company on the same day/time as you.

It's definitely better to just have one person with no luggage. It did take some time for us as a couple in the past. It really depends on how busy they are.

You can always call a cab ahead of time and have them meet you there.

you are aware that Alamo (and National and Enterprise) moved?

Just used Alamo 2 weeks ago. PAT was 11am and dropped rental off about 10:30am. No need to drop off family first as it would have been to early.

We were the only ones on the shuttle to DCL. Noon time would be much different.

Budget is a madhouse. Alamo not! lol

We did Alamo when at their old location (next res will be at their new closer location) buy dropping all off at the terminal at our scheduled PAT time and dropping off the van myself. With no luggage along I was able to get on the next shuttle as a single without wait after dropping off the van. There were dozens of families with loads of luggage in tow waiting for the shuttle and if we had all done the same, the wait would have been a while. I made it back to the terminal and to the counter just as the rest of the clan were getting their cards.

we rented with Enterprise (National and Alamo) after our last cruise (Jan 2016). One shuttle was leaving as we exited the building with our luggage  but we went ahead and walked down to where their loading spot and another shuttle was already there:yay:

and it was a short (very short) trip to their location. I think that they have several shuttles and can move people pretty quickly since they have such a short distance to go. The biggest issue could be the "crowd" of vehicles trying to enter the port area at the same time. You will not know how long it takes to get into the port area in a vehicle. It MIGHT be faster to do it only once.

Yes. They are located at that address. Just recently moved at the beginning of the year.
