I have registered as an Alamo Insider and have a rental coming up in May. I understand that my DH can also drive the car for free.

Can I pick up the car at the kiosk and enter in his driver's license number there? Or do we have to go and wait in line at the counter? I could not find any way to update my account online with his driver's license information.

Edited to add:

I found a link in my email confirmation where I could add the info for an additional driver. However, when I did this, it charged me $10 per day, even though he is my spouse and my reservation had my Insider's ID on it. Now what?

Perfect - that's what I thought, but my email confirmation implied otherwise.

Thanks!

I've tried to enter spouse at kiosk, but not been successful...it added the $10day, so I started again (skipped spouse). I have not tried in a while --PP have you done this without the charge kicking in?

I have also tried to add spouse at the kiosk, and I could not get around the $10/day charge. I finally gave up, but I think you have to go to the counter.

I have added DH at the booth as you leave the garage. No problem just handed over his license and was not charged. Hope this helps.

KMermaid: did you go directly to booth (grab bags and head across street) or do kiosk, and then go to booth. Sorry for level of micro-detail, just trying to build better mouse trip!

Oops, re-reading (my bad) -- you mean on the way out, at the very last booth. Not the booth where you pick up cars...so same question, you already kiosked by then?

I think if you have the Alamo Insiders contract ID on the reservation, you can add the additional driver for free. But just being an Insiders member and using another contract ID (such as Entertainment Book that doesn't provide for a free extra driver) won't as easily get you the free extra driver. The free driver is usually tied to the contract ID. When you have a contract ID that offers a free extra driver, you can add the extra driver via SaveTime or at the kiosk. Sounds like you have to go to the counter if you are just an Insiders member using a non Insiders contract ID.

We picked up our bags, kiosked, picked out our car and headed to the checkout booth and the end of the garage. That is when we added DH as additional driver, had to he was driving :thumbsup2

We've never been asked for the "other" driver info. Since I reserved the car, they only want my license. Said they didn't need my DH's and he was actually in the driver's seat at the booth.
