Alamo - I just got a decent January rate

In case anyone is still looking for a fairly good rental car rate for January, check Alamo. (I'm not really interested in Hotwire or Priceline and taking my chances on which company I get - I have had good luck with Alamo, love that they are onsite and that you can check in quickly on the kiosk). They just posted their Last Minute Specials and they are the best prices I have seen so far.

At their website go to the Hot Deals tab then click on the link for Last Minute Specials. Scroll down to Orlando and select the size of car you want. At the coupon code, if you are booking for a week you can use AD6974JDM, which is the $25 off code from the Alamo site.

We got a mid size for a week for $177 including all taxes and fees. Not as cheap as it used to be, but the best I have seen for January so far.

That is a good price! They sure have come down from a few months ago. With the coupon code it's the same price I got through Priceline back in early November. I've always had good luck with Priceline and too many times when I wait till the last minute I lose out.
I'd say we both did well!

My National rate went down too. I have an 8 day rental 1/4-1/12 for $165 mid sized EA. Used contential air code and a $40 coupon from National that I got in my email. I also am holding an Alamo resv. for $172 for a standard sized car. That one I used costco code and a double upgrade coupon.

January is almost here!

Thank you for this! DH and I are going to WDW for a parents's getaway for MLK Weekend. I was able to use the Alamo last minute deal and got $20 a day for a full size car, then applied a coupon code from Mousesavers and got the car for $86 from Thursday night through Monday morning. We are happy with that price.

My mantra is just keep checking. I re-booked my Alamo reservation (1/23-1/30 Midsized) a couple of weeks ago when it dipped for $163.86 and I hope it may drop a little more when I get inside the last-minute special window. The way I look at it, it takes like a minute a day to check the rate and so far my rate had dropped about $60. Isn't that worth a minute a day?

I can't get the Last Minute Deal with a coupon. I am trying to rent a minivan for 1/16-1/23 and I have tried a handful of coupons with the ID code and it won't let me use any of them? Is it because I'm trying for a mini van? I am getting an OK rate but would be happier with a GREAT rate!!

I'm not sure what is going on. Last night it allowed me to use both an ID code and coupon code. I tried again today just to verify rates and it won't allow both to be used. I guess I'll see if they honor the Last Minute Special and the Coupon code when I check in. I am using the kiosk so it should honor what is already in the system.

Thanks to the original poster who brought this to our attention. I was able to get about $40 off a compact rental for 1/7/ -1/11. (marathon weekend). I got it for $18 a day or $88 for the 4 day rental (all fees). I usually pick up at the CCC but the rate wasn't valid there . I am thrilled as I can now cancel the other Alamo rate I had ($130) and National one I had for $120.

Not as good as the $10/day I paid last year but this works for me!

Can you explain what you mean by this? Is it Alamo you have a problem with, or Priceline, or both?

Can anyone verify that you can use this code with the Last Minute Specials? According to the "Terms and Conditions" of the code, "this offer can't be combined with another." I'd hate to get down there and find that you couldn't get the $25 off, especially if this was what made me make this reservation over the one that I allready have.
If you can do this, this would make a really good rate over everything else that I have been able to find.

Using IG as ID with Alamo for last minute rental the total for minivan is $323.24.
