Alamo - Do you have to show Costco ID at kiosk if you use a Costco code?

Maybe at the counter (if you were to use it)

When you make an Alamo reservation now (on alamo.com) using the Costco code, you are required to enter your Costco card number on the last page of the reservation just before you complete it. Essentially, you have already provided your Costco ID to Alamo at this point. The only reason I can see them asking would be if the name associated with the Costco membership number that is entered does not match the name on the reservation.

I did online check in and card was never asked for at any point.

We had to check in at the counter and did not have to present the card...we just entered our member number when we booked the car.

Used the kiosk at Tampa Airport in May and the machine nor any humans asked to see my Costco card.

Alamo in PHX swiped my card to capture my membership number. I asked what would have happened if I didn't bring my card. Agent said he would have to call and verify membership.

If you're a member bring your card. If you're not a member use a discount program you're entitled to use or join.

AAA and AARP give similar discounts

Thank you. I didn't see the field where it asks for a Costco membership number so I didn't enter it. Wonder why it went through? I'm not a member so maybe I'll keep searching.

We used the kiosk and were not required to show our Costco card. I make my Costco car rental reservations through CostcoTravel. I have never just used the codes to book on Alamo.com

I am not sure you will get much more support here for an answer on this by claiming that you will be using a code that you are clearly not eligible for.

I have gotten some great rates using the Costco discount. I have always booked through the Costco Travel website. You have to enter your membership number when you book.

Please, everyday people use codes on rental car discounts that they are not eligible for. It's a roll of the dice.

Whenever you use a coupon code, the rental company or seller or merchant or agent reserves the right to ask for documentation or verification. For example if you use an Entertainment Book code you might be asked to show the page of the Entertainment Book with the coupon.

Without the documentation for the coupon code you reserved under, you might not be given the opportunity to substitute a different coupon code such as AAA and you might have to pay "full price" or "rack rate" or abandon your reservation completely.

If you book the Costco code through carrentalsavers they do not ask for a Costco membership number.
