Alamo Chevy Equinox Luggage Room???-NEW PIC OF TRUNK!

We got back last night and rented two Equinox's from Alamo. My sister arrived at 1 pm on Friday the 6th and they upgraded her at no additional charge to the Minivan. We arrived at 5:00 pm and got an Equinox. It easily held four suitcases, golf clubs, a Maclaren stroller and two aerobeds.

One word of warning - Alamo tried to charge us for the additional driver until I showed them the printed confirmation. In addition they kept trying to sell us the larger trailblazer (for $70 more) saying we would not have enough room for luggage. They also pushed the insurance. Be prepared with your confirmation for the additional driver and just say no to the hard sell. Our final bill when we returned the car yesterday was $136.94 for Friday to Friday - it was actually 4 cents less than the quote!

ugh, I hate the hard sell! I will surely miss national's easy garage and emerald reserve, if they do the hard sell. :scared1:

I am not looking for to this nonsense. Life was so easy with National, walk across the street, get the car and you were on your way.

I have an Equinox and while I love the car, I had it before we had surprise baby #3! :sunny: Three car seats in the back - a very tight fit. On our last trip, we had 2 large suitcases, 1 medium suitcase, 1 small suitcase, a single umbrella stroller and a double umbrella stroller. DH could not fit it all in the trunk so we had to take his car. FYI - my graco duoglider double stroller takes up half the trunk space. Not a whole lot of room for anything else. I will say there is a good amount of floor space in the back seat that I thought we could have put the umbrella strollers and the small suitcase. DH would not go for it. He wanted it all in the trunk and wanted to be able to see out the back window!

I think 2 adults and a small child could fit comfortably in the back seat, three would be snug. And if a child needs a car seat, more snug

Wondering how much more luggage room you get in the trailblazer? . :scared1:

That depends on if they have the TBLR with 3rd row seating. XLT model.

You fold down the 3rd row seats and yes, that will have much MUCH more room than the equinox.

We own a TRBLR XLT and it is a big medium sized suv. bigger than the equinox, but smaller than an expedition.

you can tell if they have the XLT by the numer of passengers it can hold 7 is goodm 5 is bad in your case.

dont forget the roof racks folks.

Hi to all! I originally posted the question on this thread and just wanted to let you know what happened in our case. When we arrived at Alamo there was only one Equinox left so they said to just pick out any SUV on the lot! So we put our luggage in the back of the Equinox and looked at each other and said "they DID say ANY SUV right?" So we transferred our luggage to a Buick Rendezvous which gave us a bit more room plus a pull down armrest in the back seat to separate the children when needed :thumbsup2 . However we did take pictures of the back trunk area of the Equinox before moving to the larger Buick. I will post them as soon as I figure out how to do that! Anyway I think the Equinox would have been just fine, our two suitcases were very large and fit ok, and the other two smaller cases would have easily fit alongside of them. The Buick wasn't a ton bigger than the Equinox but was higher off the ground and didn't have the funny shaped trunk area. We were pleased with it although DH says there isn't enough power in the Buick (only a V-6). I thought the power was fine personally! It got us there right? :woohoo:

Finally figured it out! Here is the back of the Equinox with my two large suitcases in it. As you can see there is plenty of room for at least one more large or two small cases. Those wierd box-like things on the sides really cut down on the room, but for us it would have been fine. Hope this pic helps someone out there! :sunny:

Couple of questions for you experienced Alamo renters. I have only rented from National. When you added the coupon codes, did you have to make a new reservation or did you modify the old one? Also, when you get to the airport, do you go to the rental counter or straight to the lot like National? I'm the lead planner for 12 people, so I want to know what I'm talking about when I get there. Thanks,
Chrissy
