I just went to check my reservation on line and could not get on. I called the 800# the gentleman who answered told me my price was $375.76. I told him no way I got my reservation down to $275.56. He said they were having computer problems and to just take my paper with me and I would get that price. I told him I wanted it fixed so I didn't have problems when I got there and he said my printout will be fine. I still didn't feel comfortable so I called back and got a wonderful lady who is fixing my reservation. I would double check my reservation with them if I was you.
 
Thanks for the heads up. Alamo is updating their system and has been for the last week or so. Today is the last day of the update so I am not surprised that it is a bit buggy. I imagine when they run the backup files before they go "live" all will be restored to it's original condition.
 
I got this e-mail from Alamo on the 11th:

The Alamo.com Membership program is in the process of a system upgrade to afford Members with the best rates and features available through our Web Site. In the future Alamo.com Members will benefit from additional discounts off already low Internet rates through email and online offers. We are also working to incorporate your online experience with your offline, rental experience.

In order to participate in this Member upgrade, please ensure that your Member Profile is up-to-date with your current Driver’s License Information and Address. You may update this information by logging into Alamo.com through August 15th, 2004. Please note that between August 16th and August 22nd, 2004, we be upgrading the system and will not be able to accept updates to your profile during that time period. However, the site will be active and we will be able to process all your reservation requests. If you have not updated your Member Profile with the required information prior to Aug 16th, 2004, you will need to create a new profile when we re-launch Alamo.com Membership on August 22nd, 2004.

I am checking rates this morning and none of the ID's work. Also, I can't get my confirmation # to come up.
 
I cannot sign in or check my confirmation either.
I was told they will be up and running on Aug. 23rd. Apparently they are still working on the system.
 

After reading this I went and checked my reservation. Low and behold, it was wrong. I had to modify it and found out they had changed the code I originally used. Thanks for posting about this, as I probobly would not have noticed .:p
 
The code always changes after you book it. IE: BY goes to HX on the final confirmation.
But, the OP was right, I did check my friend's and it had doubled. They fixed it. Then I checked it online when it was finally able to be accessed and.....wrong again. I called and they assured me what I had printed is what they showed on their system.
Guess all the bugs are not out of the system yet.
 
What I meant by changing the code was Alamo apparently changed the actual code to get that specific price. When I made the original reservation it was with code U6 (a special from Alamos site). When I printed that confirmation it had U6 as the code I used on it. When I went to check after reading this thread, it had a higher price with a different code. When I went to fix it with the same special the codes are now different and there were additional numbers you had to use. I ended up getting the same price. It just seems that when they did their upgrade they also changed some codes.

Hope this all makes sense. :p
 
Yep, made sense and I still think the system is glitchy. Hopefully it will be fixed or there are going to be a bunch of really angry customers. Doubling the price of a reservation is NOT amusing.
 
Holy Cow! You should see what happened to my rental-I was finally able to get it down to $320-went to check Alamo's new and improved system - location codes, discount codes etc have all been changed. My rental is up to $732.93 today.
 
i think it's a good idea you got them to change the price in the computer.

i went to alamo in feb and the woman at the desk charged me more than my quote. luckily i brought the confirmation form with me but she still refused. after 3 attempts with her, i asked to see the manager.

they went and talked awhile and she acted like she was doing me this huge favor by "allowing" my quote. it was all legit--no old codes or anything.
 
I just got off the phone with Alamo. what is showing on line is NOT what they are showing for me on their system. Mine is exactly as my printed quote, but, the website shows it at a much higher rate.
I think it would be wise for anyone holding an Alamo reservation to call them and make sure it is what you are quoted.
 
Thanks for the heads up on Alamo. I got them to"fix" my rate back to what I originally got. Just another note, check to make sure your
car size is the same! Not only had my rate gone up, but I got downgraded to a smaller car. I think I would have been fired if this ever happened at a large insurance company I worked for!
 
Checked mine too-went up $37 and car did go down one size.
Just checked National with a CA FF Contract ID and it gave me the full 20% disc. - rate went down another $20 so I booked with them.

Waited until today to check on tomorrow's rental and figured everything was OK. Tried tonight and still could not retrieve reservation. Called alamo and my confirmation # had gone up to $153. They were charging for an extra driver (which, if you book with the costco code, should be included). We are coming into MCO late tomorrow and I want no issues.

Checked my car size and it is still the same.

Yes - the system is glitchy - on the reservation side it will not accept the Costco BY code.
