Yes, just claim your baggage and go to the island and catch the bus. They come by every few minutes. You may want to find out the street address and print out directions on Mapquest or Google maps, etc. so you know how to get back to where you have to return the car. Also, give yourself plenty of time to return and check in -- last week-end it was easy to get back to LAX, quick time to return the car, and a long time to get the luggage checked in.
