I was wondering if anyone had any pics of the value rooms in AKV and standard rooms. Can you really tell the difference in size? We are planning on trying AKV in Feb 2013 during presidents week and I am just trying to decide what type of room to try for (since the 11 month window is in a couple weeks). We usually stay at BLT studios so for those who have tried BLT and AKV value studios how does it compare in size?

Thank you for any info!! :)

Have a great day!! :)

I would be interested in this info as well. Are they really a different size? I thought the value just gave you a parking lot view and that was what made it "value" priced. We are thinking of going here in November of this year and would very much like to know what the differences are.

I don't have any pictures, unfortunately, but Simba's mom has a picture on the Disboards that shows a refrigerator in a value studio that doesn't have a little freezer. I think I've had that room, but I don't use the freezer so it didn't matter to me, it may matter to some.

I've stayed in a BLT studio this past January just to see for myself how the two compare. I think the BLT studio has a very nice kitchenette arrangement now that the bathroom sink is in the bathroom, not in the kitchenette. I like that little kitchennette better than the value, but I like the 2 sinks outside the bathroom when I'm with someone, so the AKV value "wins" in that respect. I really like both.

I love AKV and often book value villas, I've booked all 3 sizes. I was trying BLT because my DGS wanted to stay there with DH and me before our DCL cruise in August. I think either would be fine for DH, DGS and me, and I was able to get a standard studio at BLT for the time and I'm thrilled!:yay:

I've stayed in a standard studio at Jambo with a DGF and my DS has stayed in one with his 3 children, 7, 8 and 9. For short periods, I don't necessarily see an advantage to the standard studio over the value. I do like savannah view, but sometimes just don't have the points.

This thread I found shows the square footage of all the DVC properties, so with AKV having a range for the rooms I had assumed that meant the value rooms which I might be wrong about :confused3. I am a new owner and trying to get all the info I can before I book. :)

Ok thank you! I think I might try a value if I can get it with points being so high during that week I am just trying not to blow all my points in one week LOL since we want to go later in 2013 as well. (only reason I am thinking of going this week is for my youngest daughter's birthday she will be 5 and since we took my oldest when she turned 5 only fair lol. She wants to see animals all trip so I figure maybe save some points get a value room then we just walk the resort several times daily lol)

Thank you for the info!!

The value is smaller by 3 feet, from the door to the balcony, and the balcony is smaller, narrower too.

It's not the view, a value can have parking lot, pool, or even a savannah view. Values are only at Jambo.

As Bobbi said, the Value rooms are 3 feet shorter than non-Value rooms at Jambo House and the balconies are narrower. The size difference is in the living/sleeping areas of the rooms. Because that space is smaller, you don't get the storage bench in the studio and you don't get a sleeper chair in the living room of the 1BR so the occupancy of the Value 1BR/2BR is less than a non-Value at AKV (4 in a 1BR, 8 in a 2BR instead of 5 and 9 respectively).

People have reported that because they put in almost the same furniture in the Values as in the other rooms, it's pretty much wall to wall furniture with little open space to store suitcases or even the throw pillows from the bed.

On the plus side, they are a great deal point-wise and the views are pretty good unless you get one of few parking lot view Value rooms.

We stayed in 5134.. VALUE studio and it was a perfect savanna view.. across the hall the rooms faced the parking lot.. it is really luck of the draw but I think I have read the majority of the value rooms face the pool... only a few face the parking lot..

Thanks for some clarification guys. We haven't stayed here at all yet but are looking very much fwd to it. I'm staying at the POLY in June. We are making dining reservations for Boma to give us a chance to scope the place out. We are planning to stay here for our November trip. :dance3:

There is a great map of Jambo House here. The Value rooms are located along the Giraffe and Ostrich trails on either side of the front entrance to Jambo House. There are four 2BR lockoffs and 4 dedicated studios that face the Sunset Savanna and an equal number of rooms that face the pool area. There are two 2BR lockoffs facing the parking lot.

The studio without a freezer section was 5012 (at least in 2010). The way it was explained by maintenance, who did try to replace it with a regular studio refrigerator was that someone initially mis-measured, necessitating this-

I found that the shorter value seemed to be here-

I couldn't hekp but noticing, though, that it had two sinks in the vanity-

I usually stay at BCV, more points, but a single sink in the studio vanity.
