I was looking at the points chart and noticed in the AKV that there is a "Value Accomodation" Studio. What exactly is this? Is the view just of a parking lot and the room size the same as the others?

The rooms are just a bit smaller.

the rooms are noticeably smaller. in value 1BRs and 2BRs, there is no room for the sleeper chair so the occupancy limit is lower.

view can be parking lot, savanna or pool...based entirely on luck.

value rooms are only in jambo and they are pretty limited in number.

We book value, especially for a weekend night or two. We used to book a Value resort, but like the AKV accomodations much better. I've booked a studio when it'll just be two of us, and a 1 bedroom when we had 3. The rooms have been very nice for short stays, 1-4 nights.

We have two young children (ages 4 and 6) and find that the value 1BR is perfect for us. We still get all of the amenities of a 1BR (kitchen, washer/dryer/ master BR, etc) but for less points.

Although a savanna view is not guaranteed, you still have a 40% chance of a savanna view, a 40% chance of a pool view and only a 20% chance of the dreaded parking lot view.

I am willing to take the chance with the value 1BR since I have an 80% chance of NOT looking at the parking lot. Although I really love having the animals right outside our balcony, we really have to stretch our 100 points and the value accommodations are a great way to do that. I would book savanna-view every time, but we would have to limit our trips to one every two or three years. We plan on doing 5 night trips, starting with 2 nights in a studio followed by 3 nights in a 1BR. If we take advantage of the value rooms, we can do this over Spring Break (Premiere season) for only 120 points.

Do alot of people do that? couple nights in a studio and a few in a 1bdroom with their points? I have 100 points as well and if worked correctly I think every other year would be studio/1 bedroom.

Is doing a 1 bedroom for 5 nights then switching to a studio for the last night a possibility?

Sure, but probably more people would begin with the studio...then have the 1 bedroom with laundry for the last part of the trip.

We've only done value to stretch our points, also the 2 times we have stayed in a value we've had awesome locations. First room off the elevator, stair right to the bus stop and right above the pool.

Yup, that's why we do it that way! It is so nice to come home with a suitcase full of clean clothes. I just unpacked it all and put it straight into the drawers. No laundry!:woohoo:

Another nice benefit to splitting our stay between a studio and 1BR is that we can add a dining plan to just the studio reservation. If you arrive in the later part of the day, you can stretch your meals over three days since they are good until midnight of your (first) checkout day.

We did this in June...

I had a Sun-Wed stay in a value 1BR booked. Then, we got great airfare if we took a Saturday evening flight instead. Since we wouldn't be getting in to the hotel until almost 11pm, I booked a value studio for that one night. Then, we managed to get on an earlier flight which got in around 5pm. I decided to add the deluxe dining plan to just the one night reservation. We ate at Boma on our arrival night, for dinner, and got our refillable mugs at the Mara. Already, that was almost $170 right there. Then, we had Boma for breakfast the next morning ($90) and LeCellier for dinner ($130). We also went through the 8 snacks eventually. Not including the snacks, we got almost $400 worth of food. The DxDDP for 2A and 2C was only $184 so it was a great deal. We'd planned on eating those same meals anyways using the TIW card, but this worked out better.

We're "point stretching" again in April. My parents are coming with us and we arrive on Easter Sunday. We have 2 standard studios booked for 2 nights at Jambo. Then, we move to a standard 2BR at Kidani for the next three nights. It seems a bargain at just 206 points for 5 nights over Easter. We will be driving so the move should be that much easier. We'd thought about just doing the 2BR for 4 nights on points and one night on cash, but the rack rate on a Kidani 2BR over Easter is over $1000:scared1:! By splitting the stay, we save money and we get to do a "side by side" comparison of Jambo and Kidani. The last time my parents were in WDW, the AKL wasn't built yet so I cannot wait to see their reaction:goodvibes.

This is the same reason we will be doing it next summer. To take advantage of the dining plan for two nights and then will just do the QSDP for the rest of our stay.

We typically only do 1 -2 TS meals a trip so being able to customize the plan is nice. Plus, saving points by doing studios for the 1st two nights is nice as we also will be arriving around 8:00 pm at night.
