I currently have a 5 night stay in an AKV studio for early December. After seeing the pics of Gran Destino Tower I would really like to stay there; love high rises and the look of this resort. I would have to rent out my reservation and have already spoken to David's Vacation Club Rentals about it - they are wonderful to work with. I have no interest in trying to rent it out on my own. I have not made the commitment yet because it would still cost me over $600 OOP [including parking fee] WITH an AP discount.

Can I afford it? Yes. Would I miss the $$ in a year? No. But dang that's alot of moola.

What would many of you do?

I’m biased because AKV is my favorite resort so personally I’d keep that reservation, but if you want to try Gran Destino and can afford it then go for it! I tend to splurge a bit more for vacations than I do in regular day to day life, so I totally understand the temptation.

It looks to me like there are no balconies. I'd stay at AKV just for the balcony, otherwise what's the point of having a view?

I would stay 1 night at the GDT, and the rest at AKV. If that taste has you wanting more, book longer stay at GDT for another time.

I would keep put at AKV.
Do you ever do cash stays? Thats when I would do GDT.

I often get in late at night, so I do a cash stay my first night. Something to consider - if you know ahead of time, and pack right, you dont have to open your suitcase until day 2.

I would not pay 600$ to stay at GDT over AK - Particularly the way the Decorate AKL for the holidays, which, imo, is among the best on property.

We stayed in a king room @ GDT for a couple of nights in July. We greatly enjoyed it, thought we could easily do a longer (more than 2 nights) stay there, but still thought that especially with the balcony that a DVC stay was still a better value.

This is a great idea ,maybe add or even trim a couple nights off your AKV and try it out !
I had a Riviera stay booked for Feb. ,but after talking with my husband I canceled -We both agreed better to go check it out
before we spend 6 days -

Thanks for all the great responses. I am trying to get into it for my first night only; currently no availability. I just can't justify almost $700 OOP for 5 nights.

Good luck, sounds like a good compromise. If you do secure it, make sure to do a review.

I just can’t get excited about it, usually spot on when I feel that way about a resort, but probably would try for a one or two night short stay FOMO lol
