We are going in March with 5 people (3 adults, 2 kdis). Are the sofa beds and sleeper chairs comfortable for adults at the Animal Kingdom Villas? Or would it make more sense to get 2 studios and have 2 beds and let the kids sleep on the sofa beds. It appears to be about the same amount of points.

What is your mix? Does one child belong to one adult and the other belong to the other two adults? Or do both children belong to two adults with one childless? How would you break up the group into two studios?

Studios never connect to other studios. So there is a chance you may not be close to each other.

i am a Pooh sized person and slept very comfortably on the chair bed in AKL. HTH.

If you're planning on doing any cooking in the villa, studios wouldn't work for you, other than for just rudimentary meal preparation, since the only appliances are a toaster, coffeepot, microwave and a small fridge. Also, studios don't have laundry machines in the villas, a great convenience when traveling with children (and some adults ;) ).
But if neither is important to you, and you want more comfort for the adults, 2 studios might suit you better. :thumbsup2

All studios in DVC have a Queen bed and a sofa sleeper, with the sole exception of OKW which has 2 Queens in the studio. In order to get a King you must move up to a 1 or 2 bedroom.

Vero Beach has 2 Queens in the Ocean View Inn rooms too.

so do the one bedroom villas have one bathroom or two?
Do any other one bedroom DVC resorts sleep 5 or just at AK?

AKV (not Value Villas), BLT and now OKW sleep five with a king bed, one queen sleeper sofa and one twin sized sleeper chair.

OKW only has one bathroom in the one bedroom villa.

Its really too bad there aren't more units with king sized beds.

The sleeper sofa is uber-comfy. I've napped on it a bunch of times. :)

The sleeper chair is comfy, provided you're not super tall. There's not a lot of "wiggle room" if you are, and your feet are going to hang over the edge. I'm 6ft3 and I don't think I could sleep in one, all night.

Nope, the sofa beds are not comfortable for adults. I am planning on bringing an egg crate to sleep on for this year's trip. I would try that if you decide to go with a 1 or 2 bedroom.

:) DH and I have a king bed at home and usually sleep in double beds on vacation....after all it is vacation :lmao: So last year we stayed in a studio at Kidani. He let me have the queen bed due to my back issues and he took the sofa. He is 5'7" and 260# and he seemed to sleep pretty good and did not complain at all about the sofa bed. This Dec I have asked him to just sleep with me on the queen...we will see if this happens. We both use CPAPs so it is easier to put both machines on the center night table and have our own bed when we travel.

I slept on the sofa bed at Animal Kingdomand found that they were a little stiff but you can tolerate it. It is not going to like your bed at home at it will work. Not sure about the chair though.
