AKV question

Let me get this straight? your "DSIL" is complaining about not having to pay for a room? Maybe DSIL needs to stay home. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We just returned from AKV on Monday. Our first night, we could smell what I called "Flamingo Poop" at the Flamingo area (near the back of the pool area) The other days we didn't notice it. I don't know if we got used to it or if it wasn't there!? The one thing that "bothered" me (only because I have allergies) is the smell of wood burning. Our 1 BR even had the smell, the studio didn't... go figure. We love, love, love AKV. I would not worry about the "smells", it's what makes the resort authentic. Savana view was great and a must do if you're staying there.

I think I know what she is referring to. As the other posters have mentioned there is no bad aroma from the savannahs. However, when I was at AKL in May '07, the flamingo area (i.e. near the pool) was a bit odorous.

I have to agree regarding the flamingos. We've stayed at AKV's 3 different times, twice during the summer months, and also found a slight odor coming from the flamingos, but that was it. That would definitely not deter me from staying there by any means. AKL is an absolutely beautiful resort and we found it extremely well kept. It's quite amazing how you don't smell anything at all from the savannas. I guess that's the Disney "Magic" at work. :rotfl:
We love our AKV's and would highly recommend it to anyone!!

I too was told that there was an awful smell from the animals and when I heard this I was so upset because I so wanted to stay there, well I bit the bullet and stayed there in June and there was no smell whatsoever and I was waiting for it, so to speak. Loved it so much that is when I bought into DVC at AKV. I loved being able to sit on my balcony and watch the animals. Tell your SIL to relax she will have a great time there.

Thanks to all. I called SIL and told her about all your reponses and I also told her that she needed to find something new to worry about!!:rotfl:

She feels much better, thanks. I can't wait to go. Let's hope we can get the rooms there!:thumbsup2
