I am driving myself crazy trying to decide what we want to do and what is most realistic. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We are planning to go Dec 14-24, 2008. Staying at AKV. I am trying to minimize points (saving for a trip with friends in 09) and I was thinking, how hard is it going to be to book value accommodations? I know it is pure speculation, but what do you veterans think?

I was thinking about the first half of the trip in a value 1 bedroom and the 2nd half in a SV studio -OR- the first half in a SV 1 bd and the 2nd half in a value studio.

I really don't want to move more than once in 10 days. I have no problem calling day by day at the 11 month mark, but how rare are these value views? When does the Christmas rush of people usually start arriving?

Should I just stop being so cheap and try for standard view instead of value to avoid the risk of having to move more than once?

Ugh, I am too much of an overthinker sometimes :sad2:

Why not do the 1 bedroom value all the way through?

That would be smart, if I had not told my DD we'd get a SV for her birthday trip (should have kept my mouth shut, I know). So we really should do a few days in a guaranteed savannah view.

If you want to make 1/2 of your trip in a Value, I would do the first half in the Value and the second 1/2 in the SV. I only say this b/c the SV will "spoil" you....if you stay SV first, you won't want to switch! Of course, some Value villas have SV's but there's no guarantee that you'll get one of those.

Whatever you decide....definitely call day-by-day at 11 months! Because you have the home resort booking advantage, you have the best chance of getting the Value villas...call as soon as MS opens each day, if possible.

You will love AKV! Have fun planning your trip...I think most people on these boards over think things more often than not. That's what makes DVC fun!:)

We find it easier to start with the studio and move to a 1 bed. It would be really hard to have the space of a 1 bed and move to a studio. Why not do a value studio and finish with a SV 1 bed. You may get a SV in your value anyway.
