I was wondering if the construction near the Sunset Savannah will be completed by March. We will be there for 2 weeks and would probably not like the sound of construction so early in the morning.

For those who have stayed with the view of the Sunset Savannah, are the construction noise really loud and what time do they usually start?

Thanks.

We stayed in a room on the Sunset Savannah this past March, and we didn't hear any construction noises at all.

Thanks. That is very reassuring. I am just so nervous with all the posts I see. We were there in March as well, but we had a different savannah view and didn't hear anything.

We are trying 1bed value next year to save some points but I'm afraid that if I request a savannah view (since it's only at sunset savannah), it will be loud.

Thanks again.

If they are to truly open in May I would think most is not all outside construction would be complete in March and they would be inside for the most part. Not sure if the new Savannah would be complete and have animals yet but I would think the noise would be to a min. Maybe doing landscaping and pool but that should be on the other side of the building for the most part...

I would have to agree with DH (walteeyoreworld). Rumors are that it will be opening early, and if that is the case, there should be very little construction noise in March.

On the member site, DVC has stated that the Sunset Savana will be closed from January 15 through April 15 for what they call "Animal Acclimation.

Here is what it says:

As the development of Kidani Village continues at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, crews are preparing to complete the new savanna and acclimate the animals to their new habitat. To accommodate this important process, animals are not scheduled to be on Sunset Savanna from January 15, 2009 through April 15, 2009. Members and Guests who reserve a savanna-view room during this time will be advised of this process, and confirmations for those bookings will include a notation to that affect. Approximately 30 days prior to arrival, the resort will determine, based on occupancy and booking date order, which Members will be assigned to a Sunset Savanna view room. Affected Members will be notified, and after their stay, will receive a Vacation Point credit reflecting the difference between a savanna view and standard view. As a reminder, animals on the other savannas can be viewed from multiple public locations at the resort.

Hopefully it won't take that long.

When they first posted this on the website, I thought it wasn't a big deal. Then I realized that if they were moving the animals out, it may mean construction on the grounds which could mean a lot of noise closer to the lodge.

I, too, am hoping it won't take that long.

I feel a lot better about it. I understand we may not see any animals, but I'm glad most of the construction will be done by then.

Thanks everyone.:thumbsup2

When I was there in May we had a private Safari of the grounds on our last day. I knew there was construction but I had a pool view and couldn't find it.

Also on the Safari the guides told me that the savanah will be closed because they have so many new animals not because of construction noise. The new animals need to make "friends" and get used to each other. I hope that reasures that most of the noise should be over with.

We are staying in a one bedroom value next Febuary   and when I made the ressie yesterday I was told I could not request a view:confused3 . But from what I understand there are 2 parking lot, 4 pool, and 4 savannah views. Even if you can not request a view for these rooms you have a 80% chance of not looking at cars.

That's strange, :confused3 I booked a one bedroom value for next March and they did take requests for views. They didn't tell me that I couldn't, they only said that it is not guaranteed, which I knew.

DW and I will be staying in a 1 br value in a few weeks. When we booked at the 11 month window, we were able to request savanna view. It is on our confirmation. I think that perhaps they are not taking view request for value during the time when the Sunset Savanna will be closed to animals. They would likely have everyone request pool view.

You are correct with the odds of getting a lot view. I did read here that even that view is not a bad one.

In terms of the Sunset Savanna being loud next year, I think that once the exterior work is done on Kidani and after Kidani opens, there will be no noise at all and the savanna should be great.

When we were there in May, We did not hear noises, it was things like painting and such. There was a lot of equipment on the grounds next to the lodge, There was a construction fence up to the savanna. We saw construction on Kidani, but we heard nothing over there. It was exciting to see how much they have done. It is going to be a beautiful resort. I am more excited over this resort than any other.
