need a little advice...

starting to map our our DVC pts for another family trip in 2013 and are trying to get in up to 9 nights for our 2 yr allotment of points (so that out's our home resort of BLT)

wondering about AKV...I see listed Value and Standard views for the 2BR. Are they both at Kidani or is Value at Jambo house only?

BTW wouldn't want a lock off, if that is what value is.

I'd like to stay more nights on the points vs view (DH thinks diff). Stayed in a 2 BR in Jan w/ friends @ Kidani in Jan in a Standard view (I think)...it was parking lot...but I didn't care.

TIA and would love view pixs if you have them

Values are only at Jambo. They are value because they are smaller rooms (smaller to the extreme in comparison to what you previously had at Kidani). All 2BR values are lock-offs. In fact, all 2BRs of any classification at Jambo are lock-offs. Values can have view of savanna (40%), pool (40%), or parking lot (20%) and you cannot request view.

Values are only at Jambo and all 2 brs at Jambo are lock offs.

Value is at Jambo only and standard is at both. Value rooms are smallish. A 2 bedroom would be a lock off. The only dedicated villas are some dedicated value studios.

I think the value is a real value and since I really enjoy Jambo house, when I don't have a reason for a Savannah view 2 bedroom, I pick value. The views can be savannah, pool, or parking lot. The studios in Jambo house have a double sink arrangement in the dressing area and that's another reason why I like Jambo. I've not had a studio in Kidani, but they have the sink in the bathroom and I don't think I would like it that much.

I have a gals trip coming up in September and I have a value 2 bedroom for 4 of us gals, and a value studio for 2 others. I like everyone to have their own bed. We'll gather in the kitchen for breakfast and maybe a lunch or dinner or two. Maybe we'll be lucky and one of the villas will have a savannah view, sure I hope it will be the 2 bedroom, but we'll work with whatever we have. I've had value pool and savannah views and have had great vacations in both.

thanks for the quick response all...

Jambo house=lock-off...dang that is what I was afraid of :sad2:

there would up to 8 of us staying 3-4 adults and 4 children (the childrens' ages for the trip would be 14, 14, 10 1/2 and 6 1/2) I really think we need the extra space...and I just don't like the idea of the extra entry door and we don't need the extra kitchen space...

DH isn't sold on all buses for a summer trip either, but I will keep it in the back of my planning brain.

^My view on the AKL busses: one of the best systems on site. Seldom have a delay and there are only two stops at AKL: Kidani and Jambo. I also own at BWV and AKL is way better than the piece of junk they call a bus system there.

A value would be too small for the size of your group; the Kidani dedicated 2BR gives you about 300 sq ft more in size, an extra bathroom, the sleeper chair (which is not in the values), and two queens in the second bedroom rather than queen and double sofa-bed.

thanks drusba for mentioning the buses...I have heard mixed reviews about the buses at BWV too.

I thought the buses at AKV weren't bad either during my Jan stay just wonder how are they in summer :confused3

and thank you for clarifying the value would be too small for our group too.

this is why I love the Dis very helpful in helping me make some decisions and share them w/ my family!

This ^^^! Thank you for bringing this up. I get tired of hearing people say that AKV is so far out and you have to take all busses. However, in the same breath, they will talk about the Epcot resorts and how they are so convenient. After staying at BCV for Thanksgiving, I can say without a doubt, there bus service stinks. I'll take a direct bus from AKV over a multi resort stop bus at the Epcot resorts anyday. :thumbsup2
