We’re staying in a Kidani 2 bedroom Savanna view this winter as part of a split stay. We aren’t driving, and plan to exclusively take busses.

My mother (in her eighties) is coming along and so are my two kids (10 and under). I am trying to optimize our room request for the following (in order of desire):

-giraffe viewing and other awesome animal views you can’t typically see anywhere else from a hotel room in North America
-easy pool access (my kids are hearty northerners and swimming is a must for them)
-easy Jambo access
-easy food access

I know a “near lobby” request probably isn’t going to be fulfilled. If you were me, where would you request? Note while my mother is older, she still walks, but she is getting slower. Thank you!!

We love the Timone section of Kidani, which is located on the Jambo side of the Kidani resort. It has the under ground parking with easy elevator access. It's a reasonable walk to Jambo, which would get you access to that pool and some of the best dining options at Disney. It's not that far from the main lobby at Kidani, which will be closer to Sanaa for dining and the Kidani pool. Both pools are fun, and very different. The Kidani pool always seemed a bit more kid-oriented to us, with the splash pad. NOTE: another option is the Zazu section, which is the section of Kidani on the end right by Jambo - but a little farther from the Kidani lobby and pool.

Enjoy your trip!

See Kidani map here in post #4 which shows location of elevators: www.disboards.com/threads/kidani-map-with-elevators-marked.3558443/

Lead request through MS should be Sunset Savanna view; about 80% of all savanna view rooms have Sunset Savanna view snd thus a high chance of getting that request. That savanna has giraffes. The Pembe savanna at Kidani has no giraffes.

If you also want the shortest trip from the building to the pool, your second request should be room near the Rafiki elevator on the north wing of Kidani (lobby faces west). Down that elevator to the ground, parking lot floor, leads to a walkway that provides the shortest possible trip from the entire building to a gate to the pool. That elevator is not very far from the lobby,

To go from Kidani to Jambo, you can take a shuttle bus that runs all day and evening, about every 15 to 20 minutes, between the Jambo and Kidani front entrance/lobby areas, about a 1/2 mile trip each way.

If you want to walk to Jambo, the shortest possible walk is from the Zazu elevator on the south wing of Kidani and thus you could request a room near that elevator. Down that elevator to ground/parking lot floor gives you about a 1/4 mile walk to the Jambo lobby, but be aware the Kidani building is extremely long and if you have a room near the Zazu elevator you will have a very long walk to the Kidani lobby and even longer to the pool.

Kidani has one restaurant, Sanaa, a very good table service restaurant. It is on the ground floor beneath the lobby. The Kidani pool bar also has quick order food. But otherwise, the only "food" are some items you can buy in the store near the lobby. Jambo, besides items at its pool bar, has three restaurants -- Jiko, a very good but very expensive table service restaurant; Boma, one of the best buffet restaurants in WDW, and Mara, a good counter service restaurant with ample seating, including outside fairly close to the beginning of the pool area. All three are on the ground floor beneath the lobby.
