AKV - Kidani or Jambo?

Which Village Will Be Your First Choice at AKV?

  • Jambo

I voted Kidani but that would only be for regular stay or if they make some of it concierge. My preference is concierge stays and I bought enough points to make most if not all of my stay in concierge.

I voted for Jambo.

I love the lodge and I am a little uncertain that they will be able to recreate that feeling in the DVC building. Not sure DVC will spend the money needed to get that level of theming. The new pool plan isn't swaying me either (splash areas don't really thrill me - give me a big pool!). But I'll wait until Kidani is finished before I will have a real opinion.

Kidani.

We're a family of 5: Me, DW, DD5, DS3, DD1.

Right now, we're perfectly happy at Jambo. But very soon, having that extra bathroom in the 1BR/2BR is going to be a god send. Very, very soon.

So we'll stick with Kidani, and trek over to visit bomas on a regular basis. :)

We have a trip scheduled for early December, and if they open Kidani by then, and they tell us the pool will be open, we'll likely switch out.

But, even so, I suspect this upcoming trip will be our last stay at Jambo.

An interesting note: Right now, the poll is running at almost the EXACT % that the rooms run at each resort. Meaning if 100% of AKV is made up of the combined Jambo and Kidani, around 33% of the rooms are at Jambo, and around 66% are at Kidani.

That's pretty close to the breakdown of the poll voting. :)

I voted for Kidani. DW and I plan on getting all of our Concierge activities done this coming May, so a SV room at Kidani will be in our future plans.

I voted for Kidani. We have 3 kids ages 7, 5, and 1 and think that the new pool area will be an event in and of itself. That being said I have never been to either and after the most recent snow storm would be happy to be in a sleeping bag in Florida

Voted for Kidani because it will be purpose built timeshare resort, rather than a hotel conversion. Hotel conversions have design compromises that purpose built resorts do not.

It might be interesting to run this again about a year after Kidani opens and see how we react after experiencing the new resort first hand.

If Kidani is open for our next trip to AKV in September of '09 that would be our first choice. For subsequent trips, I guess we'll base that on our Kidani experience.
