I've been wondering about this for a while now. I'm wondering how many folks will prefer staying at Kidani Village or Jambo Village once both are open? Seems to me there are advantages to both areas. I thought a poll might be interesting. So, once both areas are open, which do you think you will try to make your reservation at - Kidani or Jambo? And what are your reasons.

I love Jambo House but if the savanna views are really nice from Kidani then that will be my preferred location. I prefer to be on a lower floor (closer to the animals) and that is not an option in Jambo House. I also prefer a separate shower stall rather than a combined tub/shower so the Kidani 1BRs will work better for us. We love Boma but won't mind the walk over to Jambo House.

The 1-BR at Kidani will be much nicer than the 1-BR at Jambo, so that settles it for me. Until we stay at Kidani, who knows for sure?

We need the dedicated 2 bedrooms for the whole family visits, so it will be Kidani for family visits. For DH and I, I don't have a preference. We would like to have 3-4 night concierge stay, and the value rooms are fine for weekends, I prefer that to even sv boardwalk weekend stays ( which I like a lot) , so those things give us reasons to stay at Jambo.

I didn't vote.

If a studio then Jambo, but for a 1 bed or 2 bed think we would prefer Kidani!

I'm thinking Kidani at this point, for a couple of reasons:

1. I think we'll be able to park closer to the building (great for car-parkhoppers like us).

2. The extra bathroom in each villa.

We will usually take and extra cousin for the DD so Kidani for the extra person in the 1 Bedroom.

I'm in the minority, in that I voted for Jambo. For one thing, for me, the value studios are a big draw, and they'll only be available at Jambo. The other reason is that I know I love AKL and its views, resturants, so I voted for that....until I see Kidani, then I might change.

The Savanna and standard view at Jambo accommodate up to 5 but there is only one bathroom.

For us,

Jambo for studios, concierge and Grand Villas.

Kidani for 1 bedrooms.

We normally stay in 1 beds so we will stay at Kidani most often.

Kidani looks like a winner to me and everything will be new, at least for awhile. That's always nice. (New beats refubished every time, IMHO)

Considering Kidani is not open, its hard to give a honest opinion. The concierge level is in Jambo House. Can't wait to see the new pool and Sanaa Restaurant to give a comparison to Jambo house.

We are staying at Jambo this summer for the Concierge level, otherwise I wouldn't stay at Jambo at all. I think the units are too small and not DVC enough for us. Besides the fact that the units are too small, I also think it's unacceptable for a 1Br DVC unit not to have a separate tub and shower. That said, Kidani appears it will have everything we expect DVC to be. :thumbsup2 The models at SSR are really nice, although a bit dark for my tastes. I figure we will try out Kidani once, and then continue staying at OKW or SSR. If we are happy with the concierge level, then we may try to stay there again, though I know it will get harder and harder to book. We have absolutely no intention of purchasing any points at AKV, since we are saving our $$ for CRV and GCV.

If the points for views are the same (other than Concierge) will we be given the option of either building or will be assigned rooms based upon availability?

I think we'll stay in both 50-50 (how's that for diplomatic). We will definitely use our 11 month advantage for value and concierge bookings and I can see really enjoying the extra bathroom and new pool/play area in Kidani. So I didn't vote for either. I think we'll love both!

Though we realize rooms in Kidani will be larger and likely nicer than Jambo, we are fairly certain to remain in Jambo. The reason: Boma's and having no long trek to get there. If they stuck Boma's in Kidani, we would go there. If they stuck Boma's in Hilton head, we would probably go there.

It's THAT good? Really, why? Never ate there, ate once at Jiko's enjoyed it but don't think it was THAT good.

What do you especially like at Bomas?

OP back here. For us, I guess I'm thinking it will be 50-50 also. It kind of depends upon whether there is a CS type restaurant at Kidani. I think the early information was that there would be no CS, just a full service. Most of the time we only stay in studios and I like the convenience of Mara for my morning coffee, drinks, quick meals, etc. One of my favorite activities is to get my morning coffee at Mara and then go sit in the AKL lobby and read the morning news. I wonder what kind of lobby Kidani will have? If we stay in a 1BR (which we won't do very often), I'd say we'd stay at Kidani.

For us it would depend entirely on the villa or category we are staying in. I think most times we would opt for Kidani so that we can have a lower floor and for the seperate tub and shower.

I voted for Kidani, but put me in the 50-50 category. I prefer to be on a lower floor for the savanna plus the larger rooms sways be to Kidani for now. But if the only CS is Mara, then I may sway over the Jambo.
