I wanted to know if AKV owners at Jambo are going have the same rights as AKV owners at KV and vice versa. I own at KV and as we all know it is not built yet, so we can't use our points there yet, but JH owners can use their points obviously at JH. So I guess my question is do people who own at Jambo house have the 11 month out priveledge for KV once KV is finished and do KV owners have that for Jambo house then? This was never very clear to me and I tried to search for the answer, but came up with nothing. Does anyone know or have any speculations? I guess it is just weird because if it becomes one cohesive unit, it's kind of lame that I can't use my points at Jambo House now when in 6 months it won't matter, but I can see why because they would have far more members then rooms and that wouldn't be fair to the current Jambo owners either. But at the same time Jambo owners get to use their points now and use them at KV I am assuming at the 11 month mark. Very sticky stuff.

Side Note: We were at AKL last Saturday and KV is coming along quickly. It looks really cool. I wonder if it will open early. The outside is almost done, but who knows about the inside.

Yes, KV and JH are both part of AKV, so anyone who owns at AKV can book either KV or JH, subject to availability, of course.

To open early for point stays, they would have to sell contracts with an occupancy date prior to May 1, 2009. Those that already have contracts with May 1, 2009 and later occupancy dates still would not be able to use AKV points to stay anywhere.

Every member's DVC points are tied to a particular Unit within a particular resort. You are not restricted to staying in just the Unit that you own, you can stay in any room in any resort subject to availability. When you stay in a DVC resort you are staying in a room owned by another member and allowing someone else to stay in your room. The problem is, your room is still being built so you have nothing to trade yet. All of the rooms in Jambo House are open so the people whose points are tied to a Unit in Jambo House are allowed to use their points now. The people who own points tied to a Unit in Kidani have to wait until May 1st when their rooms are available for occupancy to use their points at AKV or any other DVC resort.

To add to this, keep in mind, if you own at AKV Kidani then you have the 11-month booking window there and only a 7-month booking window at Jambo and vice versa.

I actually, didn't realize this until this morning when I called MS to ask a question about booking a trip for next September 2009 and I was told that I can book Kidani now but I would have to wait until I was within the 7 month booking window if I wanted to try to book Jambo. That would really only apply if I wanted to book concierge service since it is not offered at Kidani and only at Jambo.

I don't think this is the correct information, I have been told by both my guide and people here that once Kidani is completed it will be one DVC resort with separate booking categories of Jambo and Kidani but you will have the 11month window with either category.

Tozzie, you are correct. I just called member services for the second time today and the gentleman I spoke to this time told me that it is an 11 month booking window at either Jambo or Kidani and that the other rep was mistaken.

Thank you for the clarification. :)

As far as I am aware you can book a reservation as long as it is a) after the occupancy date of 'your unit' and b) is within the home/away reservation window. So if a KV owner and occupancy date is May 1st can book home resort from June 1st or away from Nov 1st.

Claire ;)

My AKV points are at Jambo House, but since it will be after Kidani opens, I was able to reserve a 2 br Savanna View at Kidani for next September right at my 11 month window.
