We are doing a standard view room at AKV and I was wondering if we should do Jambo House or Kidani Village? We currently have JH booked.

First off...:welcome: to the DISBOARDS...

2nd...There's many factors that could lead to your decision....

Like : How many people, are kids involved..Old or young...Is it a studio or 1 br..Would u rather have an extra Bathroom instead of 1... Bigger pool, with a smaller slide, or quieter smaller main pool w/ longer slide..Newer rooms? Would you like the bus to stop off and drop off 1st as opposed to 2nd...Grand lobby, or not...More Ts restaurants at Jambo or not..

There are plenty of other sites to answer these but, hopefully we can help here.

If staying in a studio we prefer Jambo because counter service food is there. If staying 1- or 2-bedroom we prefer Kidani because it has an extra bathroom. 2 full bathrooms in a 1-bedroom and 3 full bathrooms in a 2-bedroom where Jambo has just 1 bathroom in a 1-bedroom and 2 in the 2-bedroom.

As far a view goes, I would prefer the Jambo standard views...which looks at the pool, or a few standard views are reclassified partial savanna views.

Most of Kidani standard views face the parking/bus dropoff and some are pool view and may have partial savanna.

As far as the room goes, I much, much, much prefer Kidani in a 1 or 2 bedroom. The Jambo bathroom is not connected to the master bedroom, and the Jambo has you step into the jacuzzi tub to take a shower.

But for a studio, Jambo doesn't have any big problems, and I would take the Jambo restaurant proximity.

I would also take a Jambo GV, with the pool table (and it has a proper master bathroom, wih its own flat screen) ;)

We are staying in a studio and traveling with our 8 year old daughter. Keep the comments coming.

Totally agree, studio; Jambo. One bedroom or larger: Kidani

We travel with 6-8 and stay in 2br's so for us the 3rd bathroom is invaluable! Above and beyond that, I prefer the villa layout, the lighter decor and the covered parking at Kidani. We aren't fans of Mara so that's not a consideration and at this point we've grown fonder of Sanaa than Jiko so for us Kidani makes sense!

The one thing that Jambo has that simply can't be beat, that majestic lobby, the immense size of it with the decor is fabulous!

Ditto :thumbsup2

So glad this thread was at the top. We're trying to decide between the two also. With 3 kids, I think we better go Kidani.

I concur with everyone's opinion here in that Jambo is best for a studio, i.e. potential views, lobby, counter service, pool location.

BUT, I do think the studios are a little nicer at Kidani. Personally, I love the larger size of the bathroom [even though not everyone likes the layout] and appreciate a guaranteed closet [not always the case at Jambo - sometimes armoire only].

Other than those two things, Jambo is the standout for studios. :thumbsup2

But at Mara, you can get Zebra Domes as your QS dessert for lunch or dinner :cool1:

(And the African bounty breakfast is one of the best overall breakfast combos ice had at WDW)

For me I prefer Kidani for the extra bathroom and the first stop bus service.

During a busy period, the bus can fill up (or be very close to full), go over to Jambo and maybe get one or two families onboard. When coming home on a crowded bus, Kidani's first stop is wonderful!

I do admit I miss the grand lobby!

Jambo house

Its where the action is with all of the restaurants. Plus, you have a better chance of a reclassified standard view that actually looks out over the savanna

Actually I've been very fortunate at Kidani, I've gotten lovely, partial views of the Pembeh Savanna on "standard points", without making any requests!

Here's our views in Aug 2012

Sorry about the size issues, photobucket Arg!

Great way to start the morning, coffee on the balcony watching the animals!

I will always go Jamb - I like the "feel" of the place. AND the standard studios are going to have a better view.

Kidani is lovely, but if you get the wrong view it loses something.

Oh and there are zebra domes right downstairs!

We ended up going Jambo standard view, and feel like we'll be roughing it with only one bathroom! BUT....we wanted the extra points to save for our Christmas trip... Choices, choices!

We have a 10 y/o and 16 y/o and we have stayed in both Kidani and Jambo.
We all like Jambo better because the CS is there, also and most important to us is the we don't have to get out of the building to go to the pool. At Kidani you either have to walk using the lobby or the elevators to the parking lots ( we used those when returning from the pool all wet so we would not have to use the lobby elevators).
For us is a lot easier to just take the elevators down to the pool area from our room.
If you forget something in the room or doing laundry it is very easy to just jump in the elevator directly to your room hall instead of having to walk back to the main building like at Kidani.
