we are looking ahead to aug 2011 for vacation. There may be 5 of us going instead of the usual 4. Ideally, we would like to stay at BLT since it sleeps 5 in a 1 bedroom, but we only own 50 points there and can borrow 50 more, so that puts us at 100. Im pretty sure at the 7 month window with our SSR points, i would think it may be booked for aug1 week, but we may get lucky, but if not, we are thinking instead of using more points and getting a 2 bedroom either at SSR, BCV or any other place, we may try AKL since it says most sleep 5, some sleep 4. Do you know which accomodation would be best for 5 of us if we picked and they had room at AKV? can we go with the 1 bedroom value, or do we have to move up a level for 5 of us? There is a chance there may be 6 of us, so obviously we would have to go with the 2 bedroom someplace.

any help on this?

No, value class one bedrooms at AKV will only sleep 4, there is no sleeper chair and the rooms are smaller. Unless one is a child under three in a pack n play. MS has been firm on the limit for the value rooms. Five people would be OK in other AKV one bedrooms. The value class rooms are only in Jambo House, and are off-sized because of their conversion from standard AKV rooms.

1 under 3 would not count for occupancy, otherwise they are very strict on the studios and value 1 BR units. The standard view Kidani would likely be your best value for 5 or 5 plus an infant. For 6, OKW is likely your best bet or if available, BWV standard or AKV value. You could stretch your points with cash days linked to your reservations if needed, by renting or by arranging a transfer of points.

There would not be anyone under 3, it would be myself, DW, and kids with a friend possibly, aged approx 20, 18, 18 and 16, one of the 18 year old may or may not be going thats what we are figuring out still. we have extra points we can borrow from the 2012 year allotment, so we should be good on points if we had to get a 2 bedroom, just trying to go the best way possible and use fewest points, but dont want to pay any cash for room. At least i know now not to count on akv value, so i will cross that off the list! thanks.

I have a similar problem only the 5th person in our party is a 5 year old. We are interested in a studio room since we dont plan on being there much. Although we could find a place for him to sleep in the room (air matress from home), I was advised not to risk it. We didn't want to break the rules but do want to stay for least expensive rate.

If a studio room is an option for you, renting two studios may be less expensive than a two bedroom from what I've been figuring out...

Good luck!

For 6 you need a 2 bedroom. Ms will not take a reservation for 6 adults in any DVC 1 bedroom. IMO, even if you stay in a Kidani 1 bedroom (with the extra bathroom and sleep chair), it will be crowded. Two of you would have to share the queen sleep sofa.
