AKV $8 off & $101 price offer for current owners - Extended to 6/4!

You can't use your points until your unit is completed (I believe).

Thanks.

That's exactly the answer I got from other posters (I asked the question in a couple other threads, too).

The way I understand it is if you get '07 UY points, your unit will be up at opening.

If you get '08 UY points, it's a crapshoot. It may be open, it may not be, any time prior to your actual UY arriving.

This is why we hurried and added on last week. We wanted 07 points to go ahead and bank for use next year. My guide acted as if the length 07 points would be available was very questionable.... Although she was not sure what use year would be offered to the general public. She has stated several times that disney is even more "tight lipped" than normal about AKV. It was worth it to us to go ahead and get everything settled. Sure, I may have saved several hundred dollars in payments... but I bet not.

We are beyond thrilled to be new members!!:yay:

This is so awesome, I want to add on 50 and don't want to finanace so I needed just a bit more time to save. It will be nice to save the $100!

Remember (and you probably know this already)...there is no maximum down payment % and no pre-payment penalty. So if you wanted to move quicker, you could, finance the difference between what you have now, and pay it off VERY quickly (possibly even before your first payment is due...or just after). You simply have to BUY 50 points.

Just wanted to make sure that info was "out there".

My guide called and left me a message this morning. He said he just got out of a meeting and the default 2007 use year that is going on sale to the general public first has changed to SEPTEMBER so I have more time to hold onto my money! :)

Or, pay up to $2500 on your Disney VISA and get it 0% interest for 6 months.

My guide just called me to tell me DVD has just extended the $8 off/point AND the $101 pricing for current members offer to June 4! He says it is official so I could post this on the DIS. I am so happy! :cool1: We are pretty sure we want to add-on 100 points but we could really use the extra time to delay paying the $$ since we're not financing.

Price for the general public is still going to increase to $104 on March 5 and there has been no word of any purchase incentives.

UPDATE (as of 3/2): See my post on 3/2 re default use year = October going on sale first to general public.

UPDATE (as as of 3/5): My Guide called to say the default use year (first on sale to general public) has changed to September.

Why doesnt this surprise me, When do Disney actually not knock something off the price, there is permanently an offer on, makes the offers look pretty unbelievable IMHO, why dont they just offer the product at the true price of $91 or $94 or what ever they want for it and cut out this discount nonsence.

Good question...here's the answer:

For the same reason that car dealers offer "cash back" promotions on their cars, rather than just lowering the prices. It's a proven promotional technique. And, no matter what people want to project, DVC is about selling timeshares.

In addition, that "discount"/"incentive" that dvc offers actually, unless I'm mistaken, counts toward your down payment when going to financing. That makes it easier, in some cases, for folks to get the terms they want if they finance.
