I want to book 2 nights before our cruise in late March at AKV. I plan to spend those 2 days at the resort. If I am able to request it, which location is best for 2 days? Which has the better pool for a 6 year old?

Thanks!

I would say Kidani's pool is better. There is a water play area with water cannons and buckets that drop water. The slide at Kidani is also longer. The Animal Kingdom lodges (Kidani and Jambo) has many activities as well (more than any other resort I have stayed at). Make sure you take a good look at the resort data you get at check in.

I would say the big drawback to Kidani is the limited place for a quick meal. The pool area has sandwinches and salads, but that is it. Jambo House has a good quick service place.

There doesn't seem to be one resort that's "Better". I've heard one answer that sounds reasonable to me-for a studio, go with Jambo house (nearer fast food), a 1 BR go with Kidani for 2 bathrooms.

Great info! Thank you!

If you stay at Jambo House, as a DVC member, can you go over and use the Kidani Village pool and play area?

Oh yes! They even have a van that goes from one resort to the other. Enjoyed both resorts in January while staying at Jambo.

Stayed at Kidani last summer and really like it. While our 3 year old granddaughter enjoyed the pool, I felt very separated from food in general. Not much food for purchase in the gift shop and no QS. Thank goodness we were in a one bedroom where I brought food and could cook.

If I were only staying for a couple of days, I would opt for Jambo and walk or take the bus to the Kidani pool if you want to swim there.

That's what I was thinking too. I really don't like cooking on vacation and we don't eat huge meals during the day anyway so being near food/snacks is important. We are also taking Disney transportation and won't be grocery shopping for such a short stay. I'm going to ask for a Jambo House studio if I can get it.

Thanks for the information and advice! :)

Not sure if you are aware, but Jambo House and Kidani Village are booking categories. When you make the reservation, you will know then which building you are going to be in. Magical Express will drop you off at the building you are staying in which is where you will check-in. This is the only DVC resort that has 2 check-in desks. They function as separate resorts, but they are actually one resort.

We are staying in a studio at Jambo for two nights pre-cruise in March as well!

We decided Jambo because for such a short stay we wanted quick access to Mara and I think Jambo is where the DCL transportation picks up from. :thumbsup2

When are you going? We are on the March 30th Western Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy.

I hope I can get a studio at 7 months. It will be my first DVC stay! :woohoo:
If I can get a studio, does anyone know if I have any chance at getting a studio with concierge at 7 months? That would be perfect!

AKV is the third largest of the WDW DVC Resorts. Between Jambo House & Kidani Village, there are a maximum of 296 studios available (250 are part of 2-bedroom lock-offs). I believe you will have a very good chance of reserving a studio somewhere in AKV.

As for Concierge Level, there are 5 2-bedroom lock-offs available. At a max, there can be 10 Concierge Level units available (5 studios & 5 1-bedrooms). CL is very difficult to reserve at 7 months.

Thanks for that info! Looks like I will be able to get a studio at least but probably not concierge. Oh well, that's ok. I guess I'd have to buy points there for that.

We are going a few weeks before you on the March 9th Eastern Caribbean Fantasy :)

I just checked online, there are no concierge studios available the couple nights before your cruise, but both standard and savannah view studios are open at this point! :thumbsup2
